Another great weekend. Plenty of new people to meet and a lot of familiar faces too. Thanks to Pete and Anna for doing what it takes to keep DDR up and running allowing us all to get together for trips like this. I am sure its not said enough but we all appreciate it. Had a blast running around with all the buggies/bikes/can-ams and everything else that joined in. I stayed to the rear just to enjoy the view of all the cars in a LONG-ASS line. It was cool to see us stretch out 4 to 5 bowls as we weaved around Dumont. I have some great videos from my drone, Pete has them and I am sure he will make a sweet video of it all pretty soon. Sandy was pretty relaxed this weekend but she still got around and managed to make it home. Well, after Pete hauled butt in his rail to find me while I was leaving to get her back to me. The Carne/Chicken meal was the highlight topped off with some great fights. Carrie and myself kept on cooking till it was all gone and manage to stuff our faces while doing it. I didn't take many pictures as we duned, but here is what I got around camp and the final sunset of the trip. The circles are steel wool in a wisk and spun around while taking a long exposure picture. Me,Pete,Anna and Steve were laughing our butts off while taking these.

Nice, A lot of familiar name and plenty of new ones. Should be a great trip. I will be hitting the road in the AM, should be there around 9ish. Sandy is already trying to break into the Coors Light!

Let me introduce to you those that have not met this little ball of trouble. Her name is Sandy. She loves Dunebuggy Round Ups. This will be her 3rd year attending this event. She has made a lot of effort to make these events. Let me explain this-- She jumped the US/Mexico Border to start. She crawled low trying to avoid being caught by the Border Patrol. She hid in the brush for hours waiting for the "Man" to fall asleep so she could make a run for it. As you can see, It didn't work. So she stole a vehicle and made a run for it . Upon arrival at Dumont. She quickly made new friends. She even likes dogs. She found out that Rails are pretty fun. Unfortunately, she has a weakness for the alcohol. And she likes to Party So, if you happen to see this little red devil this weekend, don't be shy. Come say hello and take her for a journey. Just be sure to take plenty of pictures along the way. She is kid friendly but as an Elf she is more geared to the older folks for entertainment. She has been know to frequent the camp fires a lot!! Please do all you can to make sure she finds her way home at the end of the trip. I am kinda responsible for her safekeeping.

No big deal. I will top off the propane and throw it in the trailer.

Pete, I can bring out my BBQ if needed to help out in the cooking.

Gave my car a bath and all wiped down ready to get it dirty again. Can't wait!!

I met him many years ago out in Glamis. His rails were state of the art when VW's were still the powerplant to have. I tried chasing him around out near Osborne Overlook and could not keep up. I think he had a 2276 or 2333 and I had my lil ole 1835. I went to his shop when I was ready to get a new rail. His prices were more than I could afford, But he was still the goto guy when you bought a rail in the early 90's. We crossed paths a few times over the years. Couldn't miss his lifted Ford with Mazzone painted on his door. Sucks that he is gone. Sounds like he went out doing what he loved. Hope it was quick and painless for him.

My floor is diamond plated. It looks great but I am sure it added a few pounds to the trailer and the rear door gets a bit slippery when wet.

Hell yeah, good times ahead.

That is a 4.0 motor used in the OLDS Aurora. Shelby was going to use these in his new car he was fabbing up. He scrapped that project and a lot of these we for sale a while back. I run this in my rail. I love it. 280 HP tops, but it moves my car around with no issues.

We might have crossed paths out there. I was all over that place checking our area. The fire was right where I work. Its crazy to see what a couple of dozers can do to the mountains in a couple days. Our roads are huge now. I am going to bring my drone out there and get some Ariel shots now that it has calmed down.

They changed this to a one day event. It will take place on Saturday.
-
I will be there on Sunday. I was gonna do the whole media thing and take pictures. But I just want to go and watch and relax.
-
I will take a 670 w/remote. Where can I pick it up here in SD?
-
I will wave as I drive by!

I will be helping out in this years Baker to Vegas run. I think my support leg will take me right past Dumont. We are slated to start at 9am Saturday just North of Baker. So if traffic is all jacked up feel free to look for me and give me the one finger salute. I am planning on flying my drone for some footage for our team so I hope we are near the dunes while I am out there. After that I am Vegas bound till Monday!

I think I was about 50-75 feet from them. I was shooting into the sunlight and that made it real dark. Next time I will keep the sun behind it. I added another video to my site from Glamis on New Years.

Me and my youngest went to Mission Bay to play around. I found these guys when I was leaving. This file is too large to embed. So head over to my site and watch it there. http://www.619actionphoto.com/Drone-Videos/

Drones are a money pit, be aware. I now have a phantom 3 Professional. an Ipad air 2 to see it way better than off my phone and I just got my 3rd battery along with 3 16gb media cards. FYI- I was talking to FE135 about holding the down lever all the way and some people were saying it would cause the motors to shut off and crash. I tried it and it will not shut off the motors. It will shut off the motors when it confirms it is at the altitude it was at take off. So doing a rapid decent will not turn off the motors (atleast on the professional version)

I love mine so far. It has pretty good range and with a 20 min battery you can really get good flight times and footage. I just bought an Ipad air 2 and that made a huge difference in being able to see what I am filming.

bp-guy replied to dirtflickarooster's topic in Dumont Happenings
Here are a couple quick shots I grabbed of the Drone video. Sucks the wind kept me from flying as much as I wanted to, 500 ft. above camp -
Sandy the Elf is all geared up and ready for the Night time Fire pit activities! She made her appearance last night at the house. I got a Drone and hopefully it arrives before Thursday! I will also have my Nitrogen bottle incase anyone needs to top off their shocks.
