I just replace the fuel filter on my Duramax today which is no big deal. I do it every 5,000 miles. But at $30.00 a filter thats a bit steep for a filter. Yeah I know its cheap insurance against engine damage but I was curious where everyone buys their filters and other parts. Maybe we can start a thread for good finds on things like this to help a fellow duner out for maintenance items for us do-it-yourselfer's...

Hey BOB-- I am a full "A" cup and working hard to get that "B" cup soon!!! Maybe I can locate a few and bring some next time I am out there.. I am not sure of the calibre but they weigh 3.9 grams.. By the way...we were hit with training rounds that had baby powder not OC in them. Once you get exposed to OC you never have to do that again..
-
No it wasn't the FN303. I take that training in a few weeks. Atleast I don't get shot with that one! And deserskyz-- yes it did take my breath away. Not totally but I could feel a difference in my breathing for about 5 minutes or so. Foxysandchick-- Yes we got hit with the batons at training but they were foam ones. No on the guns for obviuos reasons. And we might be getting the tasers in the future and yes we will have to get hit with that to carry it. When the National Guard is working out here building our fence they are unarmed as well. We have to stay near by incase something happens. Pretty sad if you ask me.. They go overseas and risk their lifes but come home and take away a tool that could potentially save thier life or one of their buddies.

One guy took 8, but he didn't want too. he panicked and forgot to move.

Ok before you read this.... It was a training exercise and I AM FINE!!! I voluntered for (PLS) Pepperball Launching System training. It is just like paintball but the projectiles have pepperspray in a powder form. In the morning we practiced shooting at steel cutouts that looked like people, and did area saturation which is to dispurse crowds without hitting anyone. These things are good from 3-150 feet. They are very hard to see in flight but you can hear them as they go by. After lunch we were told we had to be shot in order to carry this non-leatal weapon in the field. We only had to be hit one time (about 10 feet away) but we all wanted to see how many we could stand before running for cover. I went fourth out of twelve people. I stuck around for 5 shots and belive me IT HURT!! It broke skin and was welting up in minutes. This was on Tuesday and I just took this picture today (Thursday) so you can see the bruising 48 hours after getting hit with them. Now I am certified to carry it and belive me I WILL! I can't wait to use this new toy. We are getting some real bad people in our area and this will prove invaluable out there.

When I installed my Edge programmer I tapped the manifold for the Pyrometer on the right manifold. The hardest part was removing the fender liner. If you drill into anything I suggest you put grease on the drill bit and go SLOW!! The grease will keep the shavings out of the motor and on the drill bit.

It was fun making it. Took about 3 hours or so. Hard part was making the effects work good and not overkill the video in the process.
-
Ok so this is my first attempt at making one of these so be kind to me. I took abunch of pictures from the site and threw them into various areas of the video. The Music was the hardest to get right but I still didn't make it to the end. Enjoy and feel free to critique my first time... :6pak:

I thought it was a V6 with 2 extra cylinders if needed... Yes I was referring to the newstar as pete referred to.
-
I did a quick search and found a used one in San Francisco. Not sure if it is still available or not. sale-632767856@craigslist.org
-
No, if I am correct it is like the shortstar and its a V6.

If any of you have connections with a Mac tool vendor you can call their headquarters and get All-Access passes for about $80. I did that last year at Pomona and had a blast! We went on a Friday and no-one was there but us in the pits. We got a tour of the big-rigs and all the stuff they bring. Multible engines and anything else that might break is in those things. I was litterally standing 3 feet from the driver when they fire off the motor in the pits. Plus they had those big fans blowing the exhaust into the spectators so I didn't breath that stuff. It's catered as well and I had lunch with Chip Foose. I was given some throw away parts to bring home as well. I got a connecting rod, blower belt and clutch disc. I was hardly ever at the track, I was busy talking to the mechanics and watching them work. I highly recommend this if you can afford it. -
Damn... seems like this thread is going to turn into a beer of choice war!!! But there is only one choice COORS LIGHT!!!!!!

It was a used motor to begin with. I am not mad at all that it went on me. Sure it sucks but now I can get a NEW motor and know exactially what it gets put thru. It might have been low on oil but I can't be sure and yes it was an AURORA motor.
