Stock is probably a unifilter and just as good as the other foam filters... but whatever... I just ran the ready filters for simplicity.. and if i dump the bike and fill my airbox full of sand i dont have to wash wait dry oil blah blah blha.. just throw one away slap another on and back dunin in no time. thats about the only reason for em. BTW when using the ready filters if you go that route. Throw just a tad bit extra lip grease around the rim to help keep the sand out..

I still camp in the truck, the tent, i have no problem sleeping next to the fire either... i just hope my friends will let me inside when the wind starts blowin LOL... I dont have a high dollar setup or even a TRUCK anymore for that matter. All that really matters is i have some bad a$$ friends who take care of me and you dont know how much i appreciate that. While talkin to my buddy he told me i didnt have to fill up his when i returned it. But it was the least i could do to say thank you for hookin me up. That same friend also let me sleep in his hauler as well. I was prepared to bust out the tent and brought all my supplies and then i got the " hey if you wanna crash in the hauler and outta the wind your more than welcome too " and i was very greatfull.. It doesnt matter how you roll. just go out and enjoy yourself and who cares what you bring... BTW when i had my first bike KX125.. i hauled it around in a 2 place horse trailer as well.. towed by my 83 2wd POS ford ranger.. Just go have fun...

Foam filters are much better than K&N's however some people swear by them... I run Ready Filters... 5 bucks a pop good for a trip and toss em.. they come pre-oiled and ready to go. No more cleanin filters.. In the long run they cost a small bit more than cleanin my own but im too lazy and its easy just to rip one off and throw another one on.... i wouldnt sweat an aftermarket filter just get a good notoil or twinair or something to help keep dirt out. Depending on the model of your bike some people recommend the twinair kit that includes a new cage, and mount ring and all that good stuff to ensure a good seal. but thats an optional thing.

if you are riding on any blm maintained land you have to have whips on your ride. ALSO be aware that not all of that desert out there is rideable.. there are many closed areas. Please dont tread on those areas that are closed.
