This was a very unfortunate reminder that it could happen to ANYONE out there... The sport is very dangerous and it has its ups and downs.. Your family is in our prayers. Let us know what we can do to help out a family of fellow duners and i will do my best to help in any way shape or form..

Not saying that this wont happen in dumont but the same thing has been tried in glamis and lots of defacement, vandalism and i believe at one point it was even shot at... The only thing i would suggest is asking if Western maintenance is cool with putting one next to the pay station that way anyone and everyone that walks up to that machine to pay for thier pass can see it and remember those fallen riders that died doing what they loved doing.

From what i read that would have been impossible... the 1/4 Ton probably would have got hung up on a 1/2" piece of rebar that staked the top fo the finger dune... I would have done my best to take it out though. This is what i think about rebar :redhat:

Dumont doesnt have the rules glamis does... Allthough you can get away with quite a bit... ultralights dont go by the standard FAA guidlines they have thier own special rules... In glamis there are a few areas where you cannot LAND within certain distance of roads people so on and so forth but not those same rules for dumont... so technically he can make a runway leaving camp and not worry about it.

I talked w/ a co worker this morning and might be able to back up the stuck throttle thing... The motor was JUST installed in that car the previous week so if something wasnt right it is very possible for the stuck throttle.. It sucks that it happened but thats why they call them accidents and thats why most insurance companies call this a high risk sport.

Just because i wasnt there doesnt mean that the 1/4 ton has been replaced... That truck has soooo many more usefull purposes than that one ton.. LOL Trophy Truck, Beer Ambulance, Trash Truck, Tow Truck, Mobile North pole repair truck, South pole installation truck ( both of those were in the same trip but still LOL ) His truck aint got sh*t on the 1/4 ton except about 550ft lb of torque.. lOL

Now that i get to spend the better part of my morning in traffic. I hate the people that think they can cut in front of everyone else cuz they are in such a hurry... When traffic is a parking lot and people go flying around you in the right turn lane to make a left turn... or flying down the shoulder of the highway... that bugs me

Ill take drama over the drunkin idiots rummaging thru other peoples camp stealing stuff and breaking out weapons to steal your stuff.

i have seen people pick thier trailer up w/ dead batteries let the truck run for 30-45min and be able to start the gennie... so a 1.5-2hr drive should be no problem.. Plus w/ the trailer still plugged into the truck and running you will be sharing some power from the trucks batteries... it will start..

Stacy by the time you leave to the time you get to dumont you will have enough juice in the batteries to start the gennie... also start the gennie when you get there w/ the Truck STILL hooked up so you have a little more juice from the trucks batteries to help get it going..
