  1. We watched these guys during our lunch break yesterday and every single transition was straight up and over... And I maybe TOTALLY wrong here.. but isn't a straight up and over transition super dangerous or is it just a matter of preference?
  2. Thank you Pete It was a great day, and I was over due for a new ride, I just out grew that 450. Some pics from the day...
  3. I just couldn't stand to not take the new to me rappy out any longer! Mike had to work, so I hitched a ride out there with Adam for a Saturday day trip. Adam arrived at the house about 7:30 in the morning, we got the tires swapped out on my raptor, loaded her up and hit the road, bound for Dumont! Had great conversations about this and that. Before we knew it we were rolling into Dumont.. Road going in was probably the best it had been all year! First thing we see rolling in is the mass amount of people walking on the road. As we crest the hill onto the flats, we were super surprised at the amount of people out there this weekend. There were even a couple of vendors on vendor row, but we never made it over to see who was out there. the school bus and the flag people that have everything, I know were there. We were going to park by BR #6, but it was packed around it already, so since we only had the trailer and two quads, we opted to get a little closer and parked by BR #7. Quads unloaded, riding gear on, push the button to start the Raptor and away we go on the first run of the day. Head out over to the west of comp. The raptor rides differently then the Honda, so I am taking it pretty easy, while I adjust to the feel of the ride. Dunes were tore up bad and in need to some serious wind. We make our way over to comp and stop on the little dunes across from comp to take a quick break. Adam's raptor is pingin, so we head back to our day trip set up, so he can add more race fuel. Head back out, towards the North Pole. There were a ton of racers out there on Banshee, but we didn't stop to watch any of them, we were there to ride, not spectate! We didn't see a ton of people in the dunes, just an occasional group stopped here or there, and one line of cars cruising a dune or two over. We did see alot of people walking in the dunes, just out in the middle, walking around, no rides any place. I could understand it better if it was cooler, but it was pretty toasty out there, but hey at least they were out enjoying themselves and not sitting on a couch someplace. Make it to the North Pole, Adam is still pinging a little, and its about lunch time and the shadows are straight up, so its time for putting up the easy up and kickin back with some eats and frosty cold refreshments. We chill out there for awhile wait for the shadows to come back. Good thing for a gentle breeze or it would have been really toasty. Ok enough waiting.. off we go again.. back over from west to east. We even hit up a high point on the west side that I had not been to before, so I stopped to take some pics of the camp area from up there. It made a nice little break before heading on to the North Pole. Did I mention the dunes were tore up? Starting to get a little sore, but nothing was going to stop me from making the most of this day and I was really getting the feel of the raptor. We head back for a refreshment break and to add fuel to the rides. And have the entertainment of watching some one in a lt sand car with a beam following, playing on the face dune, every single transition.. straight up and over.. straight up and over. until finally the beam got stuck at the very top going from the front side to the back side They headed back to their camp, so we decided that the dunes were safe for a little bit and since it was already 4:30 where did the day go??? to make our final almost sunset run. On the way back from the N. Pole , Adam hit up the smaller dunes, hopping every little dune. Boing, boing, hop, hop, hop. I laughed to myself, it was like following the Easter Bunny! Back to the truck load up and head home.. 6:45pm.. Love the day trips, I think that was the most I had riden in one single trip out all year. I am super sore and feeling it today though.. Oh yeah... did I mention... I   my new ride!!!!!!! Pics to follow!
  4. Anyone else doing a day trip on saturday? Can't wait to try out the new ride. Thanks Adam for letting me tag along!
  5. You got a deal!! Which day what time!
  6. Adam... Day trip is better then no trip and staring at a shiney new toy all weekend..
  7. Hoping for a last minute bunny trip, or its going to be a loooong a$$ summer, looking at my new quad! But work always comes first

  10. Yes yet another great weekend in the sand... but seriously if your in the sand, is it not a great weekend?? Lots of great runs. I always love those sunset runs from the back of comp, up and over and ending at the N Pole! Clean up had a good turn out, GREAT job to all who were involved in putting on yet another great clean up. Thank you for everyone who came out and helped pick up our beautiful playground! I always have fun and love doing my part volunteering and giving back to the place I love! Yes it was warm, but we managed to not run our AC at all, once that sun went down it was perfect for visiting by the campfire with a couple of sandy beers Had a couple of mishaps in our little group, nothing major and everyone went home safe and sound. BIG thanks to all of those that stopped to help when our friend broke his Rzr, every person who passed stopped to make sure we were ok. Love my new camera and its cool features! Spent my weekend riding Mike's Raptor... Time for an upgrade... AND the new baby comes home this weekend!!!!!!!! :headbang1: Anyone in the market for an 05 Honda 450r?? I love her greatly, but it was time to part our ways Missed those that were not there Nothing beats a weekend of sand, riding, great friends, laughing, campfires, and family!!
  11. Looking forward to as I do every year. Love cleaning up the dunes, helping out and doing my part to keep the playground open.

  14. So busy these days I didn't even know there was a trip report... Adam pretty much covered the weekend. It was a GREAT one. Friday's storm in the desert made for some spectacular photo's! Really made me wish for that new Nikon Cool Pics P510 that I have been eyeballing.. I am over due for a new camera! I see a new one in my future via tax return.. So much riding to be had, I was totally sand satisfied after the weekend. Pretty empty dunes. Big thank you to Adam for letting me tear it up on the Outlaw, must say, not a bad bike, I was pretty comfortable on it. Poor Trusty Rusty is having a hard year. But she is 7 yrs old Pics next.. maybe tonight.
  15. Anyone heading out this weekend or are we going to have the sandbox to ourselves?
  16. Yes very well. The brownies and ice cream at the fire were delish! I am going to try it next time we are out Feb 7th - 10th.
  17. Had such an awesome weekend I barely took any pics. The sun was just going down when we rolled in Friday eve. We literally found our place, dropped the back pulled out the quads, gassed up and went on a twilight to dark dune cruise to the N Pole. Headed back, set up, got dinner cooked and Doug and Travis came over and we headed out for a don't tell Adam's wife night ride hope she never joins DDR or takes a look at this to see what Rappy is really doing out there in the dunes.. ( I still claim photoshop ) Back to camp for fire and conversations. Up early the next day, just in time for a little customer service, door install while I made the boys breakfast. The day was spent riding, riding, and riding some more. Went over to visit Joe Duner's campfire Sat night, and was treated to some awesome campfire brownies, cooked in a box covered with tin foil.. YUMMMM!!! I brought a box home yesterday to give it a try next time we are out!! Sunday was a repeat of Sat and we stayed until Sunset.... Great meeting everyone this weekend, even met some fellow duner-hikers I will see if any of my pics are post worthy and get them up tonight.
  18. I am reading these reports and looking at the pic and making vroom vroom noises, and I still have two and a half more weeks, Nothing beats an off weekend and having the dunes to yourself! So glad the wind clean those dunes up. Great reports and pics! Thank you for sharing!
  19. Not 100% but I think that second pic shows the beginning of the line up by banshee, we still have not passed comp at this time..
  20. We headed out after work on Tuesday night and stayed until Sunday early morning. Since my tranny hasn't arrived yet, I was what I affectionately call a "camp tramp" this is what a wonderful friend of mine that didn't ride, but always chilled in camp called herself Wednesday started out to be a good day, with pretty empty dunes we were able to go on a "Justin Ride" to the North Pole. Me and Razor in the Rzr, Mike leading on his quad, Jill and Charlie even came over to enjoy the ride. By the time we got to the North Pole, Mike's oldest quad was leaking oil all over the place. So we spent the rest of the day in camp. I kicked back with my book and the boys worked on the quad. The rest of our group began rolling in Wed eve around 6:30. Unload visit for a little bit, then off to bed. Razor (the dog) came down with some kind of asthma fit in the middle of the night, kind of scarey, pretty sure it was all the dust and little wind, but it never bothered him before, seemed that Benadryl did the trick and he has been fine since we got home. Thursday was spent prepping our delish dinner. We did our turkey in our infared turkey cooker, so no reason to hover over a pot of boiling oil.. so just about dinner time, we all decide to head out on a dune run.. perfect timing, everyone seemed to be heading in for preperations, while we were headed out. I was able to ride shotgun in one of the groups rails. I am so grateful that she offered up rail rides and I had so much fun as a passenger. Pretty much repeat on Friday and Saturday. We did join the Sand Sports ride and it was cool to see all the rides in one really long line. Campfire Jenga and Kareoke is always good times By the end of day Saturday the only vehicle of ours personally, that was running 100% was Mike's quad and Justin's quad, so we packed it in early right after a delicious group breakfast Took very few pics, but will get some posted here in a few. All and all a great relaxing fun weekend with a fantastic group of people... Looking like an "end of the world/Christmas" trip will be the next one out, hope there is a huge wind storm between now and then, cause the dunes were pretty rough, as is expected.
  21. I have some crappy regular old sandproof digital pics of part of the train from near the end. In one of them we are still on the west side of comp and you can see the beginning or near beginning of the line up by banshee. If I get time tonight I will post. It was fun to see from the front seat of a friend's car.
