  1. You better get your azz in gear!! Stop playing with the Bronco!
  2. Rappy you might melt!! You are from the PNW! We rust, not melt! It barely rained on us, but the cloud cover made for a fantastic cool 80 degree weekend. Yes your outlaw would have come in really great, but I don't mind hanging out in Coral Pink, it is such a relaxing place. Thank you for the picture and trip report comments, Coral is my favorite place to camp, ride, and dune.
  3. Day two.. Up early to start the day.. I suggest that Jarod use my quad, Mike agrees. So I tell Jarod, if he can kick it, he can ride it He gets it started, and nervously agrees to ride it. The boys all take off shortly after breakfast, while I relax with my book and my journal and the pups. We have been approached several times already on this trip, by forgeniers wanting to know if our quads and the rzr are up for rental. and has we sit down for lunch, another group pulls in and asks again. Lunch is yet another new try. Chicken Nachos on the BBQ! Simple and easy, that was the food goal of the weekend try out new reciepes that were easy to do, delish and kept me out of the hauler as much as possible! This one had the guys drooling and waiting impaitently for lunch, simple.. chips, made at home taco sesoned shredded chicken, and cheese, with sour cream and salsa to garnish.. I wish I would have made some guac though..( next time), line frying pan with tin foil and toss on the BBQ for 15 - 20 mins until cheese is melted. Relax for awhile, wait for the sun to pass the overhead point to go on an afternoon ride. Read, play with remote control toys.. ride around the meadow. My turn to go on a ride I am very excited to see how my quad does with the enhancements that Mike has done over the summer. I am able to cruise in third gear at Coral and still have power left to hit fourth.. Mike is the man!! Thank you for the work on my quad! I can't wait to see what it will do at Dumont this year!!! But before I can see what else she can do at Coral, my ride is cut short the Rzr is now acting up, so back to camp. Done for the weekend.. enjoy the company of our family, play with the dogs, more remote toys and visit with the ranger, who remembers us, so just hangs out in camp for awhile and doesn't even bother to check tags, even though we are all good. I still feel sand itchy, so I tell Mike where I am going and take off to just cruise the trails and take some nature pics. The guys decide to give me a break and cook dinner After dinner, the kids take off to go exploring, making the most of not being able to ride, we keep an eye on them as they climb the side of the dunes and roll down the hill and repeat. Mike and I pick up and prepare for an early departure in the morning. Then it is an early fire, sunset, dessert and visiting by the fire. Up early.. pick it up, pack it in.. I hate to leave this place, especially since we have only been able to squeeze in two trips this year, with our busy schedules, and probably won't be back again until next year... it is so beautiful here.. the temps were upper 80's lower 60's, no A/C needed, just open windows and screens doors. Bye Coral Pink.. until next year..
  4. Poooor Mike has three birthdays within weeks of each each other.. how to solve the what to do for everyones birthday?? Can we say Coral Pink trip? Yep! That works for all of us! We hit the road right after I got home from work on Thursday evening. We arrive at the meadows around 10:30pmish.. and of course we notice right away.. EMPTY meadows Unload, get situated and hit the sand for a night ride. There has been a great deal of rain recently and the sand is wet. I notice right away that my quad has good pick up, better then before, but needs to be rejetted and is overloading. We run around for about an hour, stopping at the far east end (my fav spot) It is a gorgeous star filled night, we relax for a little, have a drink break and watch the moon rise. Back to camp and hit the bed around 12:45am Toss turn.. toss turn..UGG!!!! Apparently riding just before bed, gets the adrenaline going too much.. little nap, wake, turn, little nap, wake turn.. up at 7:30am with Mike talking to the cows that have come and invaded camp. They have come in to close and I am laughing so hard at Mike taking pictures and being nervous that they are knocking over chairs and getting even closer, and don't seem to care that the dogs are out there. Make coffee, start breakfast.. Our friends Jack and Felicia show up just as we are sitting down to eat breakfast. Off through the dunes we go to get our "dino track vision" we have told Mike's little one, Justin, we have special powers that we can see dino tracks with and when we get to the dino track area, we will give him the special dino track vision too. Just to the one way trail and Mike's oldest, Jarod's quad dies and won't restart The dino tracks will have to wait.. back to camp to see what the problem might be, if it is fixable, or just a battery and something a trip to Knaub can remedy. Looks like a regulator - day one and he is done for the weekend We have lunch, visit for awhile and decide how to get everyone to the dino tracks. Jack and Felicia unhook their truck and Mike and the boys are going to drive that over, while I lead Jack and Felicia to the dino tracks and meet them at the entrance.. just out of the meadow and my quad decides to totally bog down, something is not right.. turn back around, change of plans, look at my quad later, I will drive the truck with Justin, Mike will take everyone else through the dunes and meet up at the turn off to the tracks. Then we will all switch andI get to drive the Rzr with Justin down to the track site. Justin and I have plenty of time, so we stop for pictures and to play on one of the "tourist" dunes, I have never stopped to read the signs and do the "tourist" thing, so that was pretty cool, and I learned that some of the tracks I had taken pictures of wasn't really made by a snake, but actually by a beetle. We meet up at the entrance to the tracks and do the switcheroo, me and Justin in the Rzr, Mike and Jarod take the Ridge Runner, Jack and Felicia take thier truck. Dino track hunting Justin finds his first dino tracks ( Justin is HUGE into dinosaurs, so this is a really big deal) Then some bones - cow bones - but we play them up as "dino bones" We get some big fat rain drops and some thundar, time to finish finding the tracks, back to camp. Mike takes a look at my quad back in camp and we find that my new air filter has come off, so back together and YES! I am good to go again! We begin our "trade off" riding weekend, and since Jarod got to dune to and from the dino tracks, Justin and I get first trip out. Then Mike and Jarod go out while I cook dinner. I make dinner and Justin buzzes around the meadow on his quad, hitting some mud and getting super dirty and having a blast. One other group has joined us in the meadow. The guys get back from their ride just as dinner is done. Kick back and relax by the fire, talk about the day, look at all the stars, that you just can't see in Vegas, and just enjoy each others company. I have tested out a new dessert, "chocolate fondue" with bannanas and strawberries, BIG HIT with the kiddies We are all exhausted from the day and little sleep, so off to bed early...
  5. You had me at wheel chair races... I have already began making a promotional flyer and thinking about giving free tickets when you bring a bottle of Centrum Silver or a package of depends
  6. Or hell you live in Vegas.. Drive through.. Over done cheap.. More money for dunes
  7. I have been so busy camping and hiking, and concert going, I have not really had sandticipation (and here I thought I was the only one who called it that ) this year. And we have only been to Coral once. But we do have one more coral trip this weekend. And anothercamping trip in Sept and then maybe sandticipation will kick in
  8. Went there several years ago.. It may have been cooler if we did not break down the first day.. But I did learn after that never to leave my quad at home.. Some of these threads may assist you though.. http://www.dumontduneriders.com/invision/index.php?showforum=86
  9. Right!! :poo: I can't wait to see what mine can do now too, with all Mike's enhancements.
  10. I guess that mean if Rappy goes we will have winds on Thursday and Friday All kidding aside of course, let me know if you are def coming so I can pack extra breakfast and lunch provisions It will be nice to get some sand time in and I can't wait to take the kids to the dino tracks!
  11. Ok I figured if the bacon didn't get ya, the breasts would This one is so ridiculously easy, I pre-made and froze 8 lbs of chicken on Sunday! So one dinner for our upcoming Coral trip is already prepared, along with several more Dumont trips (its right around the corner you know) Great to make your dollar stretch and perfect if your group does the combined dinners and you are in charge of one of them One recipe makes 12 pieces Instructions Season your chicken breasts with all the spices, but the brown sugar. Wrap a slice of bacon around each piece. Roll the wrapped breast in brown sugar Grill until done. Or put in bags and freeze. I put a little bit of the left over brown sugar into each bag.
  12. I can already see the kids running around Dumont with boots looking like this I know its not funny that they are going to try to make it so your kids can't enjoy the dunes or offroading of any kind, its pretty much BS.
  13. Ok I get you can modify a floor, but that only will work if you only take small children and not another adult. But who really wants to modify a floor in their rzr or rhino, to make it only kid legal, and kids grow like weeds, modify the floor everytime your kid grows an inch. I get the concept, but that IMO is abusrd. Even more so to take the family aspect out of a family oriented sport.
  14. I would have to say that the biggest thing is going to be kids, am I reading this wrong or is it going to be illeagal to take your 8 year old on a ride if he/she cannot touch the floor with their feet? So if you have a family, someone is always going to be sitting in camp, cause you can no longer include your small children in the sport?
  15. I did not bring my quad on this trip. We are headed back up for a day trip in Aug and will know more about the offroading area then. On this trip I was scouting out the area camping and hiking only to see what it was like.
  16. The last couple of pics show the new ATV RV Park. Accomidates up to 40ft, I know their website says only 25 ft, that is the "small rv park" When I made my original plans, I had some questions, so I called, that was one of the questions that I asked about. It is just not on their site, you have to call them or send them an email with questions. They are super nice at the office, especially Mary, she was very helpful and also made sure that the ranger stopped by my camp a couple of times, since I was there alone. There were people riding/driving all around camp, so there shouldn't be any problems with that.
  17. The trailhead I know was 6,200 feet in elevation, the peak I hiked to was 7,950. So the campground it self if probably about 6,000 or so. The temp during the weekend I was there high 80's low 63. Pretty perfect. It was a really great place to relax and hike, so the offroad trails should be good to.
  18. Yes Adam I love that truck bed tent I stole from you love it love it love it!!! The pups and I were comfy cozy, just perfect! I will go back anytime.
  19. Thank you. Yes it was a relaxing, peacful trip. The hike up the mountain was a little harder then expected. Yeah the elk didn't seem to care at all that I was there or the dogs. The pic of the one laying down, was the one wandering through my camp and just decided to hang out with us. So its good riding up there then?
  20. I went on a little minication this weekend. Get out of the city! So I headed up for camping and hiking at Hualapai Mountain Park out of Kingman, AZ. They have some ATV trails, so this was another reason for my choice, check out a new area for future dirt riding. 133 miles from my door to my campsite. It was a nice easy route 93 straight through to Kingman, then up route 66, to Hualapai Mountain Rd. Now I thought it was pretty steep, the road signs do say curving mountain upgrade. And there were plenty of haulers but there. But I don't pull the hauler, so I think we will make a day trip out of it sometime in August, so Mike can see for himself, before setting out with the hauler! It was a great weekend, and what an adventure! That is my short version of my weekend. If you want to read the long version of my adventure, you can do so here: https://www.facebook...151153206193969 But here are some pics of my minication escape from the city. This is the "small rv park" only accommidates up to 30 ft. Here is a view down the mountain of the ATV RV park and some of the offroad trails leading out across the mountain. Oh yeah... the ATV camp area for the bigger haulers, moho's etc...
  21. I'm not telling Yes missing him bad. I am counting down those days and there are too many.
  22. Have fun! We will be hitting it up early Aug for a nice quiet off weekend for the boys birthdays. Memorial was crazy!!
