I thought this was kind of a cool thing.. thought I would share it. Something to look forward to this summer. Mars The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again. The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m. By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month. Share this with your children and grandchildren. NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN

What an expierience..... What is it? First Friday.. that is? It's an art show that they have every First Friday of the month.. They have different artist showing off thier work.. live bands..street performers.. people watching..food and drink venders.. it runs from 6pm to 10pm I have been wanting to go check it out for awhile.. finally found someone to go with me and an evening we both could go.. so my friend Mike and I set out to check it out.. he had been before.. Needless to say it was quite the expierience.. Some of the artist work was way cool... some of it was some of it was a little frightening very angry and just plain wierd.. The people watching was great.. :hungry: The bands were fun to listen to.. found one I really liked.. Dubstyle.. a Sublime tribute band.. they were pretty good.. There were street "break" dancers they were doing an awesome job.. I loved their bongo player.. what a caricture :kitty: There was a great big tall guy who could put himself into a small box.. it was entertaining and disturbing all at the same time. Some pics from the evening.. (man I need a new camera ) Street dancers.. Their bongo player We went into some of the "Antique" stores.. the things that they have are quite interesting.. who would buy this stuff??????? Really????? A old used CPR Dummy??? For real??? I even had to act like I was interested and how much and I sooooo need this for my collection.. I mean I don't have a Las Vegas Fire Dept. CPR Dummy yet.... Almost peed myself laughing soo hard!! $380 Maybe next time! The Monkie masks were cool though.. The tall bendy dude.. People watching :ogp: These guys were getting all kinds of action This lady was happy to just be there :smoker: :smoker: This was really the only artwork that jumped out at me.. and I have no idea why if I would have had the $$$ I probably would have bought it.. My friend Mike and I found a barn looking building that we decided to get artsy pics of.. My friend Mike getting an artsy shot of some barbed wire Funny Sign.. at least they are honest This dog cracked me up Dubstyle... <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">A cool painted van It was cool to just walk around and look at all the stuff and the people and listen to the music..
