my appologies, captain clam, in advance. :clown:

did you just call me retarded?.....funny, cause in a room full of retards, i'm pretty sure i wouldn't be able to single you out. and i say that in the nicest possible way....anyways, yes bush presided over the gubmint for the last 8 years so he must take responsibility for doing nothing(or worse). remember he wanted EVERYONE to buy a home to realize the american dream? yup, i'm the poster child for what happened during the bubble. sold my house for TRIPLE what it was worth in the year 2000, even though we made LESS money than we did in 2000.....yup, i'm a retard. been a republican for 25 years now, but they just lost my vote. anyone that bothered to sit up and say"why am i paying triple for a house" in 04 or 05 or 06 would have seen this coming. now then,....what was this thread about again?...hope i'm not too far off topic.
-
he didn't "drop out"...the american people were too dumb to listen to what he had to say, so he lost in the primary...now we get the president we deserve.....and as far as who's fault this "butt crack of doom" we are looking into.... its bushes fault. he and the republicans stood by during the housing bubble..2001 to mid 2005 and looked the other way while the banks and wall street raped and ruined this country, with no regulation. do yourselves a favor and do a google on the "housing bubble" if you still don't know what kinda trouble our country is in. we just sang the national anthem on this thing(did i mention it's a double header)? so pull up a chair and get popcorn....it's about to get mighty interesting.

forgot to thank everybody that gave candy to my kids and others. in about one hour my 5 year old had more candy than he could carry(or be allowed to eat)....saw a lot of great jack-o-lanterns and decorations to!

i already talked about this in the halloween trip report thread, but since theres a specific thread about it i will take the opportunity to get on my soapbox again. dumazz.....they are fun to watch, but they are what they are. when your front tires are 10 feet off the ground you can't see where yer going....been talking about this for a year now. this makes 3 times quad gets run over by wheelie-ing sandrail. i see it as stupid as do many of the people i have talked to about it....pair that up with the fact that probly half of em are legally drunk.....sheesh. in my book, if your sandrail does wheelies you need to work on your weight distribution. i like to show off too, but not risking others lives in the process(hopefully).

got to the D about 4:30 friday. started unloading the ghetto buggy and somebody drives up and dumps out my buddy wade and he says he rolled his rail at the backside top of comp. says he's got 4 flats and we need jack/wheels/tow strap/ .....i say wait a minute here, let me go take a look. gimmee all 5 air bottles we have and lets get to work. half hour later we are driving back to camp with it. hell, he coulda kept on duning it for the weekend but had the renegade with him so....why. anyways, nice weather, but wayyy too much dust til it rained sat nite for an hour or two(thank you god). got superdave in the car with his wife and another guy and went out to make a video from inside the car....hope it turns out. started raining and it got kinda hairy out there so we had to call it quits. when the rain turned the sand all to brown and no more tracks visible you start to get vertigo.....clutch quits working in the buggy so i run the rest of the weekend without it(didn't want to stop much after that in case some of you were wondering why i drove in circles occasionaly) then, in the light rain wades grandson eric leads one of those epic rides one end of the dunes to the other, but had to slow down because of the raindrops on the glasses toward the end. hope that kid don't get hurt ridin' like that, but it sure was fun! saturday the dunes weren't too tore up yet, so it was pretty good riding. different story on sunday after the rain as far as accidents. we saw a girl that had fallen down a steep hill from a quad being put on a backboard way out like half way to north pole that looked like she was busted up pretty bad. hope shes ok....helped the rangers find a smooth way out of the dunes. then they went out via north pole. hate to second guess, but i woulda went through comp hill area...much shorter in my opinion. then on sunday the other randy i took with me was sitting at comp and sees another one of those jackasses doing a wheelie up comp with a sandrail and hits a guy riding a quad. scary for a few minutes, but it looks like nobody got hurt tho. i know i'm gonna get some sh*t for this, but for cripes sake...can't you move some weight up front to keep from doing those wheelies so easily. :no_no: a monkey can do a wheelie(many do). seriously, what do you see when your front tires are 10 feet off the ground?...ok, off my soapbox and packing up...left around 4;00on sunday. surprised at how many peeps showed up. i didn't think there would be anywhere near that many peeps out there. btw...nice to see a lot of you at the meet n greet on sat....i'm kind of an introvert and it's hard for me to stick my hand out and meet new people, but i'm glad i came outa my shell for a few minutes. oh yeah.....thanks to that new vendor...loose screws for the parts and that ron guy does good work too. i think he's the spokesperson for monster rails.

bump for yuh, super. hope to go for a ride wit yuh sat or sun.!

there's a reason the quad manufacturers don't use twist throttle any more. they aren't safe, as others have said in this thread....so i will add my 2 cents. i have become a pretty good rider in the 7 years or so of riding quads(i've owned dozens of them).....almost every wreck i have had has been with a twist throttle, and i absolutely attribute the crashes to the fact i was with less control because of them. you might like them for a while but remember it only takes one mistake to kill you or change your life forever. HATE EM!!!!

couldn't said it better myself. i picked up a couple dozen half melted bottles and cans from our fireplace at camp this weekend. theres always a few jackasses out there trying to ruin things for everybody. do what i do..... a couple years ago i saw some people leaving a camp full of trash. i dashed over and told the ranger....no, sheriff and he dragged em back to their camp....gave em three tickets...made em pick it all up. if you camp around me, you better not leave trash....period! a lot of people dont believe in the electric chair, but if i'm elected king we are gonna have electric BLEACHERS for them effers! (can i count on your vote)?

to my knowledge it's illegal to fire a "solid projectile" gun in san bernardino county (think lots of flat gound)unless at a designated shooting range. shotguns are an exception to this rule. as they don't travel nearly as far.
-
wish i coulda been there for it jess. we got there sat afternoon just after you guys left and weather was perfect til sunday evening when we left. prayers said for john, and i hope to see you in the dunes soon.
-
and shotgun blast doesnt travel too far so we don't have to worry about where that round's going(collateral damage) . in fact if yuh let em git bout 75 yards it will just sting hell out of em as they are runnin off.( don't ask how i know this).

a passerby found an off-roader who was killed at dumont on saturday, officials said. 8am saturday someone reported a man had been found dead in an overturned sand-rail, patially ejected, according to chp. jeffery wayne ebner was his name. a 37 y/o resident of folsom. another tragic accident. my thoughts and prayers to another fallen duner.

i have owned just about every quad made from 2000 to 2007, so i know them pretty well. when i was married my favorite wifes bikes were scrambler 500 4x4, kfx 700, honda 250ex, suzuki z250(it starts in high gear, unlike the 250 ex). my favorite, like 1320 says, the scrambler....auto, reverse(important for girls), rides pretty good, use it in the desert too(think dual sportish), pretty good power, 4x4 allows you to get out of trouble in a tough spot. this is a bigggie.... one brake on handle bars operates all 4 brakes(less to think about). a monkey could ride a scrambler(many do).....my favorite bike now....can-am renegade....it's scrambler on steroids. my favorite bike out of all of em.....nothing, and i mean nothing can touch the smooth ride of this bike and it hauls a**. and it even has a low range. that all being said it sounds like she don't wanna learn? grab her by the throat(did i think that out loud?) and ask if she really does before you spend a bunch more on a failed experiment. lots of girls are much happier in a ranger or rhino. they can take along friends and gab while cruising through the lower dunes or around the parkin lot....makes a good recovery vehicle too. you can buy a ranger 700xp for 5 grand right now(wider and longer than a rhino=more stable and seats 3) just remember most girls don't want to go out and do what the guys do on a quad(i bow to those of you that do!). and it does take quite a while to learn this very dangerous sport. gotta be patient with em. good luck....

kickoff weekend south pole DDR meet & greet
randyvw replied to dunefreak's topic in Dumont Happenings
thank you! i will believe it when i see the deed in my hand. -
ok, this is gonna be a long one. we just sang the national anthem in this baseball game analogie/housing bubble. it dwarfs the technology bubble we had at the turn of the century. at the top, (early 2006) i sold my house in the victor valley for TRIPLE what it was worth three years before that. meanwhile we are making LESS $ than we did in y/2000, inflation adjusted. that figure is from a year ago....the 10% inflation we had in last 12 months makes it not even close anymore!.....housing prices ALWAYS revert to the mean. that means we got a long way to go down yet. 2000 was a pretty good base year for fair value on houses compared to income. over 70 year period before 2000 we paid about 25 to 30 percent of our salary to buy a house. at the top we were paying 50 to 60 percent to buy our houses. unsustainable. period. before all this is over we will be back to 2000 prices IF we don't have a depression. the problem with all these bailouts is the gubmint doesn't want to admit this and let prices go back to the historical norm. they keep spending our hard earned money trying to prop up the prices, because the banks are (virtually)ALL insolvent! the foreign banks and others who lent us the money to finance this casino now know we can't pay it back. that 700 billion dollars we are gonna throw at this problem will be like taking a pistol to a nuclear war! to those that want to educate themselves about housing and the economy, do a google on housing bubble and spend a couple hours reading. or just go to patrick.net. the nasdaq still hasn't got to where it was 8 years later and this bubble was much bigger. we screwed ourselves and our kids and our kid's kids. so get popcorn and pull up a chair, it's about to get mighty interesting!
