Wow what a great turnout! At first I didn't think we would have that many cars show up this year, but then we had over 80 cars at sandcars and coffee. I think I burned more fuel than any other trip this time. The buggy rides were awesome. The weather was all over the place but it was really nice most of the weekend. We had a couple of cars on their lid but nobody got hurt. The carnage was minimal too so that's good. It was great seeing most of the regulars as well as some new faces. There are some badass cars that show up every year. Thanks to everyone who showed up, contributed towards the raffle, and made Buggy Roundup what it is. I hope you all had as much fun as I did. 🤟

Our friend, Lily at OhMy Lumpia, will be serving breakfast starting at 7am with biscuits and gravy, pancakes, & eggs. Later on she'll also have combo lunches with lumpia, stir fry noodles and marinated bbq chicken available. Grab some grub and show her some Dumont love. She will be parked in the center of Buggy Roundup camp starting Friday morning. Much thanks to her & Firewood Vendors of Dumont Dunes for providing for the Buggy Roundup crew this weekend. 👊♥️

Buggy Roundup Camp & Weekend Agenda (times are subject to change of course. Afterall it's a dune trip). We'll be camped in the usual spot, just across from restroom 10. See the map.
👉Thursday
🔹Get there early, meet the early arrivals, and go make some tracks in the sand with everyone.
👉Friday:
🔹Run the dunes and burn some fuel!
🔹Curious what your car weighs? We'll have the scales set up Friday afternoon in the middle of camp. (Probably about 1-2PM) Come over and weigh your buggy.
👉Saturday:
🔹Sandcars & Coffee 8AM-9:30- Park your buggy in the center of camp. (Many guys do it the night before). Grab a coffee, wake up, mingle with other buggy people.
🔹10AM group ride: We will do a group ride with ALL the buggies ending someplace like North Pole, Comp or whatever feels right.
🔹Grab yourself some lunch and then head to the raffle area.
🔹1PM We will raffle off some prizes
🔹The rest of the day will be more duning finishing the last ride on Sunset Hill.
👉Saturday Night
🔹group bonfire
🔹possibly dune videos on the big screen
👉Sunday
🔹Pick the sand out of your ears, go for another morning dune run, and then pack it up when you feel like it (or stay another day to enjoy Dumont some more)

2 weeks until Buggy Roundup weekend! I'm asking for a little help this year with a couple of things.
1) We're looking for some new items to raffle off so if you have some ideas or anything you'd like to donate, drop a suggestion below or contact me via DM or email pete@dumontduneriders.com. You can also just bring donated items out that weekend if you're coming out.
2) If you're a good leader in the dunes and don't mind leading some rides, please let me know so we can set that up throughout the weekend in addition to the normal dune runs.
3) Don't forget to bring a little something to add to sandcars and coffee. 🍩🥐 Looking forward to seeing everyone. Please RSVP if you haven't yet. ✌️

Well I finally made it back out to the sandbox after a long summer. This is probably the first time in 15 years that I have not made it out in October but it was so damn hot I'm glad we waited. Not only that I've had a bunch of other trips and things going on.
We had some great weather except for some wind on Saturday. We had a handful of problems with many of the buggies in our group but we got through them all and got a bunch of great dune rides in. I even ran into the guy who bought my Tech 3 and he ended up running with us for the rest of the weekend. That was pretty cool.
Lots of laughs and good times. I can't wait to get back out there in 3 weeks for Buggy Roundup. 🤟

I can't say I've ever seen that car at Dumont.

No, that's the license plate of your truck or RV. You need ohv registration or a non-resident stick for your rail.

I think this last Halloween will be the last for us as well. My group got in on Wednesday and had more than enough space for all of us along the ridge. By the time I got out there Thursday night, there was a car width between where I was supposed to park, and the camp next to us. My trailer got peppered by a RZR Friday morning. There isn't any respect for anything or anyone. I was a big fan of SXS and still am, but at the same time I despise them. Anyone with a 600+ credit score can go buy one with a 10 year loan for $300 a month, throw on the biggest speakers they can find, and go trash our dunes with no regard for anyone around them.
I sold my $75k Can Am and bought a $15k sandrail and am super happy with it.
Yep, it's been about 10 years since I've been out on a holiday weekend and actually enjoy it. 2009 (and before) was the sh*t out there on a holiday. Now I avoid it like hell.

Buggy Roundup 12 dates are set. I've had a ton of people ask me already. It's always the 2nd weekend in December, guys. Get it together.
Buggy Roundup 12: Dec 12-15, 2024
There's more info in the event link below. Please RSVP on that page.
I'm hoping for better weather than at 11.5! See you guys soon.
Comment below what day you plan on getting there. Maybe a pic of your buggy and rig too!
Questions or suggestions? Post those up too.

First I've heard of it but it kinda makes sense.

In case you haven't heard yet, season and weekly passes have not been sent out to vendors yet.
We will update the passes page as soon as the vendors receive the passes. BLM is running late this year.
In the meantime you can purchase your pass online at https://www.recreation.gov/activitypass/e210305d-b769-11eb-87ed-16dbf55c498d

Halloween used to be my favorite weekend. I choose to skip it now. It's no longer my crowd out there. It's changed alot. I suggest going on an off weekend. That's what I do.

I was kidding about not needing one. I was mostly referring to the incorrect dates. 😄
Apparently the vendors in town don't even have the season passes yet. You can buy your (weekly or annual) pass online or at the kiosk (weekly only). I also just got word that Roadrunner Powersports on vendor row will have passes available as well.
-
You'll be fine. They don't even check passes anymore. 😂 At least the last two seasons they haven't. The first year they started selling them online the date was off on mine by one year. My pass didn't get checked once that season.

There's a decent amount of camping space/ area. It's accessed from highway 127. The dunes are little of course, but a fun little area. Mostly "finger dunes". There's the salt creek mines too. I put a bunch of info on those on the landmarks page.
A section of little Dumont got washed away last year but it didn't affect much of the sand. They just plowed the entrance but it's pretty soft still unless they did something about it since Oct 15th.

Thanks for sharing, Nick! Great to finally camp and dune together. Super fun weekend even with the crap weather! lol

Hey guys (whoever is even reading this lol), our plans to feed everyone on Saturday fell through so you are on your own for lunch. Sorry! but we'll still be doing the raffle around 12:30/1pm. The rest of the weekend's format remains the same. Details on the news post.

It's looking like 40+ rsvps so far between the event page, FB group and FB buggy roundup chat I started today.

The next buggy roundup is right around the corner. We are doing it again Easter weekend! It's the perfect way to close out the season. Come out early and dune with the crew. Many of us will be there Wed or Thursday. The Saturday schedule is close to the same as usual. (See event link below for details).
Want to help contribute towards the tradition? Bring out some donuts or whatever for cars & coffee on Saturday morning. Also...we'll have some prizes we'll be raffling off on Saturday so if you have anything you want to contribute towards that, bring it out and hit me up when you get there. Any and all help is appreciated. Looking forward to seeing everyone and seeing some new faces this year.

Welcome back! And no problem combining accounts. I remembered your screen name from way back. It's crazy the things I remember but much more important things just seem to slip away. Dave right?
