Calling all sandcars! Come join us at Dumont Dunes for our 9th Annual Buggy Roundup. The Buggy Roundup is an annual Dumont trip when all the sandcar people are invited to come out and camp together as a group. We'll be camped together across from bathroom 10, just off the right side of the entrance road. This trip gives the buggy guys and girls of Dumont a chance to meet each other and run the dunes together for a full weekend without the crowds. So don't be a stranger. Every year we have new people join the camp and end up leaving as friends. There is no set schedule of events, but it will likely go something like this... Arrive as early as you'd like. Some get there as early as Tues or Wed. Just don't go hard and break your car before the weekend. Saturday 8:00 AM -~10 AM: Sandcars and Coffee: Pull your car into the center of camp. (Or park it there the night before) Feel free to bring out some donuts or breakfast treats to contribute if you'd like. Grab some coffee, say good morning to everyone, and check out all the buggies. This gives everyone a chance to wake up and get the day started. 10 AM North Pole Dune Run: Join the group as we'll form the biggest train of buggies you've ever seen. We'll do a full dune run (slow to medium paced cruise) through the dunes to the north pole. Saturday Afternoon: The rest of the day will more group rides, dune trivia, a raffle and more group dune runs! Buggy Roundup/ Camp Rules Those that wish to camp with the group for Buggy Roundup must agree to the rules set by us, Dumont Dune Riders. 1) Don't be a d*ck! We've never had an issue with anyone at buggy roundup, but we will not tolerate any BS. We are there to have a fun weekend of duning. 2) Be respectful of others in camp: this means no loud music. 3) No passing on group rides unless you can do it extremely safely while giving that person plenty of room (ie: cut an entire dune to do it. Don't catch them by surprise.) 4) It's asked every year so I feel I need to say it. If you have a side x side, you are not uninvited. Please just understand this one time a year event is for buggies. So please don't get in the middle of the line of buggies for dune runs or photo shoots. Want in? Here's what you need to do. 1) On this page, click GOING... 2) Bring your buggy to Dumont and join in on the fun. Don't be a stranger. Park with the group. If you don't know anyone, just ask for PETE. Camp Location Forum Topic
  2. yes, we have to submit paperwork to BLM every year before we can announce it so please be patient. 2nd weekend in Dec.
  3. Thanks for the info! https://www.dumontduneriders.com/invision/passes/
  4. Yep, there are always vendors there on Halloween weekend.
  5. It works. It still seems limited and a little slow when a bunch of people are there. But it's up for Verizon, AT&T and T Mobile carriers.
  6. It won't be dune weather quite yet. It's still way too hot out there. Unless you are very experienced and know how to read the dunes well, I wouldn't advise it. You'll only be able to hit the dunes super early in the morning. The rest of the day will be crazy hot and no shadows.
  7. Here, I Googled it for you. They have them on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/272323292814?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=272323292814&targetid=1263094005266&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9030743&poi=&campaignid=10454522093&mkgroupid=120902275623&rlsatarget=aud-412677883135:pla-1263094005266&abcId=2146002&merchantid=6296724&gclid=Cj0KCQjwg7KJBhDyARIsAHrAXaFXV2wfTk2-hq1M5Hye-GlpRZmaDV3w5irkWJ3OPI0ulSRBE0rIo0MaAhsAEALw_wcB
  8. Probably a good call. It is crazy hot right now. Wait until October for a much more enjoyable and safe experience. See you in the sand!

Halloween is Sunday night this year, but the usual festivities and trick or treating will still take place Saturday night.
  10. Hey welcome to DDR. We used to go quite a bit in the summer for sunrise rides because we're close enough for a day trip (living in Vegas). You have to go super early and get out of there by 10 or 11 AM if you do go. Be extremely careful. The dunes are super sketchy in summer with lots of drop offs, razors, witch eyes, etc. Be extra prepared. Here a few tips I put together,
  11. Oh man! Look at all those melted Can Ams. https://www.thedrive.com/news/41595/massive-fire-at-can-am-warehouse-torches-tons-of-atvs
  12. Wow, looks like a beautiful day today at D. I bet the dunes aren't very crowded or tracked out. 😆
  13. It's already started at Dumont. I support more law enforcement for this kind of crap. lol I'm all about having a good time, but these guys take it too far and have zero consideration for others.
  14. It likely went to your spam or junk folder. Sometimes you have to save the address or mark not as spam with some emails.
  15. Hell if I know. I haven't found it yet so how am I supposed to know what it looks like? 😂
  16. No, you are giving these people way too much credit, Lee! LOL
  17. The 20/21 dune season has finally come to a close. It was an interesting season for sure with the COVID and all. More so this season than ever were the dunes the perfect escape to normal for many people. It was one of the only outlets for recreation or getting out of the house and not feeling the pressures from the pandemic. No matter what is going on in the world, pandemic or not, Dumont always offers solitude and the perfect setting to turn your brain off. If that's not what your after, it's also the perfect place to party and go nuts with limited impact on others. Regardless of the type of dune trip you are after, I think we can all admit Dumont is great "reset" that all of our brains need from time to time. I hope everyone found that reset on every trip you managed to squeeze in this season. Although the season is over, we all still manage to get out and enjoy some part of the outdoors. So don't be a stranger. Pop in on the forum and let us know what you are up to. We don't shut the site down during the off-season, so please utilize it to keep it alive and fresh. Many people have turned to social media these days and we get it. It's easy and convenient, but please keep in mind we do this for the community and love you guys. Show us some support and we'll see you in the sand in October!
  18. It is sorted out! lol It ran great. Looking forward to it.
  19. Well the season has officially come to a close for us. It has been quite the rollercoaster of a month for me. So I'll quickly fill you in on my buggy motor drama. The short version is this. I have been chasing a low power/pinging issue with my car since last season. Two trips ago the motor went south as the rings were burned up (tons of blow by and low compression). I basically finished it off after 11 hard years of duning and I found out the timing belt had jumped time one tooth. That was my problem all along. Then I replaced the motor and went back out a few weeks ago only to blow the new motor up! I think I had a wastegate issue, it overboosted to 12+ psi and it it went boom. It put three holes in the block. I found another motor and thrashed to get it in and running. So this was our last trip of the season unless we blow this thing up again! lol I am been super stressed to get it done and all the bugs worked out because were going to St Anthony this summer. Finally after all these years! Anyways, here's my trip report. We arrived Friday night. The weather was awesome. We downed what seemed like 100 beers around the fire until the W switch flipped around midnight or so. We knew the weather was gonna suck, but we I had no other choice in the matter. I needed to get some time on this damn car! We set our alarms to get up Saturday morning and get out before the wind. Well, there was no such thing. We were up, but the wind was already howling. I went to fire my car up and it didn't start. My head is pounding from the previous night's bad decisions and now I gotta diagnose why half my fuse block has no power. lol I finally figured it out. It was a broken solder joint on a power feed. I got it fixed up and we headed out in an attempt to do a dune run. The dunes were so razored out and the sand was just flying off the dunes making it impossible to dune any kind of line. So I just sort of skirted around the outside of the south end and then found some "lines" in the dunes toward the north pole. It wasn't too bad out there but it was breezy for sure. Driving back to camp was pretty miserable. I wasn't sure I was even going to be able to put my car under a load in 3rd gear at this point because we had to drive so slow. The dunes were basically summer dunes. There were so many razorbacks and sketchy spots. Our normal lines were screwed. Back at camp we spent several hours inside waiting and hoping we'd get a break. It wasn't looking good. 20210424_120425.mp4 About 2 PM it finally calmed down a little bit and we headed back out. I found out only one of my fans was working so we went back to camp so I could fix it. It ended up being another bad connection near the fuse box. It was an easy fix but then the W came back on strong again! Damn it. Finally around 6:00 it was absolutely gorgeous. We got a full, solid dune run in and stopped in the dunes to enjoy the peace and quiet. We had the place all to ourselves and the views were awesome! We ran into some friends on Sunset Hill before going back to camp. Gotta love Jason's shirt! haha Back at camp the weather was still great. I was finally able to relax knowing the car ran good and was fixed. Sunday we slept in, relaxed, and drank mimosas. On the way out this little dude bid us a farewell until next season!
  20. WHY? I will never understand why people feel the need to hang their trash on the pole.
  21. Looks like at least another week or two of duning weather. Anyone else still heading out or have you called it a season already? We'll be out this weekend doing some more buggy testing.
  22. Yeah I missed that. It was late at night (AM), not during the day. We were also wondering about the details and how this happened. They could have just been hanging out on the dune. ? It was close to camp.
