  1. Yeah get used to it first. No need to add anything until you get a feel for it first. Sounds like you have a solid powerplant already.
  2. Not crying, just saying I understand everyone dunes year-round and has trips planned to here and there. It has nothing to do with the topic I posted though. I'm talking about Dumont here.
  3. Newly is super anxious to test out his new buggy so we're thinking of making a super early morning run to D on Aug 23 or 24. We'll be bringing both our buggies and we're hoping some others want to join us. We'd be leaving Vegas around 4AM so we're there just as the sun is poking up (5:30 ish). I usually don't ever think of bringing my car out in the summer due to the dangers of the dunes and excessive heat if something were to go wrong, but we plan on taking it very easy. We'll only be there until 10/11am at the latest. Let me know if anyone is interested. We'll pick a day and make it a solid plan. Summer dune pic added just in case you are on the fence...
  4. FYI this topic is about Dumont. That's why its in DUMONT happenings. Hahaa
  5. I like how clean that car looks. Very nice, Newly.
  6. Is it too early to talk about dune season? Hell no! Let's do it. I just want to get this out there now and get it over with. Unless it's unseasonable cool early in October, it's looking like Oct 24-26 for me. That's the weekend before Halloween weekend which is Oct 31-Nov 2nd. Halloween falls on Friday this year. When do you plan on heading out? I'm so itching for some sand!
  7. I wasn't bagging on them. They're just not my thing. They are a completely different machine from a sand car. Yes, today's side x sides can rip through the dunes much better than the old Rhinos, but they still aren't a sand car nor as capable on high speed runs. Are they still fun? Yes I'm sure they are. But I just can't get into them and the last time I was at the sand show it was lame IMO. Every RZR I see in the dunes is basically tapped out and floored everywhere they go. You can't compare the two. They are both fun in there own ways. Ever watch a RZR race up comp? -yawn-
  8. haha. Yeah right. I know some are still there, but the side x sides are so not my thing and they out-number the buggies big time since they are the trend now. They have taken over the SSSS.
  9. I don't think I'll be hitting the side x side show anymore. Its still kinda cool, but just not worth the drive.
  10. What do you need done? GTP Offroad works on quads.
  11. That's a cool step up. Looks like a natural ramp!

  13. Posted by the Old School Dune Buggies page on FB. November 1973 – Womens ATC Competition, Dune Masters and Sand Piper Buggy Clubs, Dumont Dunes. The green ATCs belonged to the Dune Masters which matched their club jackets and logo while the Sand Pipers rode the blue ATC, again matching their club color. From left to right… Yvonne Clements (Sullivan), Carla Schedler (Floyd) Cindy LeFever (sister on back?), Pat Sanford (face turned), Sandy Harland (in back, getting on her ATC), Liz Miles, Jeannie Clements, Avis Marin (out front, blue ATC), Mickey Miles, Denise Spiro, and Judy Sellars. 14. Are the prices on the website the sale prices?
  15. Just 3? And posted by the only ones on here that are duning through the summer too. WTF is everyone else doing? lol FYI, pics don't have to be current. C'mon guys.
  16. I'm not sure who it is who hosts the event, but it's pretty cool to see another group also do a buggy roundup. It's the 5th Annual Silver Lake Long Travel Sand Car Roundup in MIchigan. It looks pretty big. I bet we could eventually get that many buggies at our roundups at Dumont. Speaking of, we should set a date soon for next season. I'm thinking mid December again. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/article/20140724/MICHIGANDER04/307240007/Dune-buggies-from-around-U-S-flock-Silver-Lake-State-Park?nclick_check=1

  20. Joined! Hope I can help. I will be following your progress and wish you the best, Mike. Our buddy Chris (Grimace) broke his back at Dumont back in 09 and has been dealing with a spinal injury as well. It's crazy how quickly things can happen yet affect the rest of your life.
  21. Nice pics, Steve. I wonder how long that construction is going to be like that through the Gorge?
