  1. Your truck is brand new. Once you get some miles on it, it will get better. Sucks about the bike!
  2. Sounds like this was one pretty bad impact. I bet if helmets were worn and the cage wouldn't have buckled they would still have had major injuries, but probably would have survived. It's seems like a newbie move to fly off a dune that fast and that hard not to mention at the angle they took. I'm just speculating though. It's too bad they didn't have someone in their group to show them safer habits. Many people just go out there and give it hell. They are too excited and blind to these things that can happen.
  3. A little more info. There were two occupants. The driver died on impact. The passenger was being worked on and was flown out. The victims' entire camp didn't speak english and didn't understand what happened expect for the wife of deceased driver. Very sad. More pics. Looks like they jumped right off the dune at the base of the superbowl on the camp side.
  4. Couple pics sent from the north pole. There's a ton of people out there this weekend.
  5. Just got word from SAND~SNAKE that there was a nasty rollover this afternoon in a Can Am Commander. There were of Asian decent and didn't speak English. One confirmed deceased. They were not wearing helmets. He said it didn't look pretty as you can tell from this pic he sent. Major cage failure. It was ripped off on impact. Thoughts and prayers to their friends and family. Helmets or not, these manufacturers shouldn't be able to sell these things with such weak cages.
  6. It should already have an open diff in it.
  7. I thought it was a little difficult to read with that background too, but it was an awesome article.
  8. Just read the article. Great job @@FE135! DDR got some nice words in there. Also thanks for the cool feature of me & Anna in the Reader Showcase. (pg 56)
  9. That's a bummer. Subie is usually a great replacement for a VW. Still lightweight and loads more power and reliability.
  10. I just renewed my subscription. Good thing because we're in this one! (pg 26)

  12. Out on a buggy run and chillen at Talladega @@702sandman found us and joined in JVZ managed to do this when cresting a very large razor, but luckily he saved it from going over. So we turned his car into a tripod and he duned it all the way back to camp on 3 wheels. Sunday morning Bud (quadrockets) arrived in his new Tatum Black Widow. We went for a nice, long ride and stopped at comp afterwards. camp Sunset ride
  13. I only pulled my DSLR camera out like once or twice. Some pics of Anna and I out on a morning ride. Some buggy ride screenshots. photobombed by @@Randog Wheelie!!! Talladega roost The BOMB's V8rail north pole Time to chill under the awning Full moon coming out
  14. I think a ratchet strap should be on this list.
  15. ohh sh*t. Here we go! hahaa Why didn't Mark join in on the runs?
  16. I'll start with some pics from "the cleanup" We found a nasty old couch sitting at the north end of the camp area. So we decided to hook up to it with the buggy and drag it over to the dumpster.
  17. I had no idea you were out there, Mark. Where were you camped?
  18. Just got home and unloaded. It was quite a weekend. The dunes were near-perfect and the warm weather was great. It got a bit windy Saturday which was a little annoying but sometimes it died down and in the dunes it wasn't bad. The warm temps were a nice change from the cold dune weekends. When you were moving or sitting in the shade it felt really nice. The dunes were smooth but our super fast runs claimed a few cars. Randog tried getting out of Krusty's roost at Talladega and clipped a sand mount/ bush at around 70 mph shearing a lower control arm. Then on Saturday's sunset run JVZ managed to almost land dart or cartwheel his car off a steep razor, but instead saved it and the right front suspension literally folded under his car. Crazy stuff! Then I guess NE14SAND lost a stub axle and did some damage to his car in the meantime. Carnage! ynot had a couple issues still and he won the die-hard award for leaving Friday AM, driving all the way to CBM for repairs and then making it back to the campfire in time for Apple Pie. Really sucks for those guys who had repairs, but I am very happy to say my car did amazing. After all my recent weird issues all stemming from one stupid head gasket leaking under boost, I was extremely stoked that the car ran strong all weekend without any problems. We got some killer runs in and managed to hook up with just about everyone that I hoped to. Great seeing you and duning together, Jmanx! We had a great camp and I was happy to see everyone. Saturday night we all huddled around JVZ's outside TV and fire and watched supercross. That was a good time. Nothing better than dunes and SX! The cleanup was a success for the most part. It was pretty much canceled then BLM did nothing to announce it or put any word out until the last minute. Maybe next year they'll be grateful for Friends of Dumont Dunes and the crowd they bring out. I saw quite a few people out and about Saturday morning doing their part and that was nice. Those are die hard, dedicated duners right there. Not doing it for a prize or reward...just out doing it for their dunes. We picked up a few things in the dunes while out on a quad ride, but then went back to camp for the buggy and dragged a nasty old couch over to the dumpster. That was fun especially the donut/ victory lap at the end. haha It's always a little sad to see the season end, but it's bitter sweet. I'm anxious to get out and do my dual sport adventure rides, mountain biking and hit the lake. There's always our summer morning quad runs too that give us that quick fix during the off season months. Pics to come soon...
  19. It sounds like they don't have many other options really.
  20. We're gonna have one helluva group this trip. That's all good. Gonna finish off the season with plenty of good company.
