Yes I subscribe and to tell you the truth, I wouldn't change a thing about it. There's always a great balance of everything. I don't think offering a more-online friendly approach to content is needed. People like picking up the actual magazine and flipped pages while taking a deuce. Adam, as Bert stated, they have articles about different dune spots all the time. Duneguide.com would probably be of some interest to you if you've never checked it out.

It's crazy how things just disappear into the sand. I had the same thing happen with a chain once.

Need some more!

This Sunday? Already? The weather here is pretty much perfect for the next month or 2. Sounds like you have quite the time up there and I am jealous. I wish I could make it up there soon to check it out.

Things that are on sandawg's mind. Sounds like good times! Oh and bourbon and ginger ale. Hmm. I believe it. Ginger Ale goes well with just about everything.

Dumont Road used by Runners
dunefreak replied to Adam @ GTP Off Road's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
Why do you say that? I don't see anyone getting worked up. Adam is just venting a little because of some inconsiderate people. Nobody else is posting much on here lately. Rant away! Wanna start a better topic about something else, Pat? What should we talk about? -
That's almost exactly what I said. So yep, I agree.

Yeah just because they have a permit doesn't mean they own the place. Just like that film crew that told sandawg he had to move his camp that one time. BS -
I never mentioned signs would work. I think that was White Rhino's idea. It would be great if it was that easy, but in the end people will end up doing stupid things on their own regardless of what you tell them. I guess there really isn't a solution. People just need to be a little more cautious out there, especially when they are new, The driver made a terrible mistake in judgement and paid dearly for it.

Western face of comp hill? Wasn't this more at the base of the face hill near the superbowl?

I've heard of a couple, but none recently. I remember another was in a RZR up on one of the big, steep dunes. It was at night and the occupants weren't wearing seat belts. It's really sad to hear about all of these accidents. While searching the forum for an incident to show 702sandman, I came across pretty much every fatality over the last few years. Not a good read in any thread. The one common denominator was inexperience or lack/use of safety equipment. It got me thinking. I wish we could somehow reach out to or educate those who know nothing about Dumont. You know, those who never read this website or have any experienced friends to explain the basics about duning to them. Yes, we all think this should be common sense, but sometimes people get so excited about something so new and awesome they tend to overlook things, They have no idea you can't just pin it over a dune and land in the "soft, fluffy sand" and everything will be alright. I don't know. I have no solution. I just wish we could help the noobs that often lose their lives to something that is so easily avoidable.

Your truck is brand new. Once you get some miles on it, it will get better. Sucks about the bike!

Sounds like this was one pretty bad impact. I bet if helmets were worn and the cage wouldn't have buckled they would still have had major injuries, but probably would have survived. It's seems like a newbie move to fly off a dune that fast and that hard not to mention at the angle they took. I'm just speculating though. It's too bad they didn't have someone in their group to show them safer habits. Many people just go out there and give it hell. They are too excited and blind to these things that can happen.

A little more info. There were two occupants. The driver died on impact. The passenger was being worked on and was flown out. The victims' entire camp didn't speak english and didn't understand what happened expect for the wife of deceased driver. Very sad. More pics. Looks like they jumped right off the dune at the base of the superbowl on the camp side.

Couple pics sent from the north pole. There's a ton of people out there this weekend.

Just got word from SAND~SNAKE that there was a nasty rollover this afternoon in a Can Am Commander. There were of Asian decent and didn't speak English. One confirmed deceased. They were not wearing helmets. He said it didn't look pretty as you can tell from this pic he sent. Major cage failure. It was ripped off on impact. Thoughts and prayers to their friends and family. Helmets or not, these manufacturers shouldn't be able to sell these things with such weak cages.

It should already have an open diff in it.

I thought it was a little difficult to read with that background too, but it was an awesome article. -
