  1. Nice photos, Irnbear. I worked and took a few naps on the couch. 😆 Much less exciting that what you did. I've been to the area though. Awesome place there in Alabama Hills. I'll be a little north of it in a couple weeks ( Mammoth).
  2. Start planning your 2019-2020 Dumont season now. The holiday weekend dates have been confirmed by the BLM. Many have asked when the official Halloween weekend is and it is October 26-27 weekend, the weekend before Halloween. After Halloween we have Thanksgiving, New Years, then MLK and President's Weekend in 2020. The 2020 cleanup date has not been set, but it will be in mid-March. Keep checking back on our site for more upcoming Dumont events. Dates when a holiday pass is required Halloween: October 22-October 28, 2019 (since Nevada Day is the last Friday in October, there will likely be staff the following weekend as well. Holiday passes will not be required that weekend) Thanksgiving: November 26-December 2, 2019 New Year’s: December 31, 2019 - January 6, 2020 Martin Luther King: January 14-January 20, 2020 President’s Day: February 11-February 17, 2020
  3. It's a new week. What did everyone do last weekend?
  4. Awesome. I love the Sierras! I can't wait to get back to Mammoth this summer.
  5. With summer here and nobody going out to Dumont much, let's keep this place alive! Share a little from your most recent trip, project, sand toy maintenance, or whatever it is you have been up to as of last weekend. Post as little or much as you'd like. Didn't do anything and laid on the couch all weekend? Post that! 😆 The whole point is to stay in touch as a community. The more we do that, the longer this site will stay up and online. 🤔 Last weekend some friends, including @bp-guy and I went kayaking, exploring and hiking in Black Canyon. The first four miles were epic. Then after lunch we had to paddle for 5 hours to get to Willow Beach where we were getting picked up! LOL That part sucked. haha
  6. Yeah it hear there's snow on the dunes and the meadow has standing water and is muddy. Yuck!
  7. Looking at the weather forecast and it's crazy. It'll be cooler for Memorial weekend than it was over Halloween weekend. Curious if anyone is going out. I actually thought about going, but have other plans already. Weather: https://www.dumontduneriders.com/invision/weather/ Weather.com: https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USCA1133:1:US
  8. I got some great info from Rose and the Barstow the BLM and Tom Gammon, pres of InterConnecting Wireless! See the article I posted...
  9. Many duners have been anxiously awaiting to hear news that the Dumont cell tower is up and running. Although early reports stated it would be completed in November 2018, that was not the case. Towards the end of the 18/19 season we saw that the service access road was completed, but that was all. Then in March, we saw they were pouring concrete at the top of the hill and that was an exciting and big step towards more progress. It is now May and we recently received word that the tower has been placed on the hill south of the camp area at the big dunes/ memorial hill area. The tower was installed using a crawler crane. Originally they were going to use a helicopter, but that would have involved additional permits which caused more problems and delays. High speed coverage for all should be available by Fall of 2019! Tom Gammon, president and founder of InterConnecting Wireless, advised us a perimeter fence goes in sometime in June. Phone carriers will soon thereafter start installing their equipment for the cell tower to be functional. AT&T is looking to start their full equipment install or deployment in July. This takes 90 to 120 days until phones work or all is fully completed. Verizon should be installing everything this fall and T-Mobile is in the process of working on doing the same. All 4 carriers will provide service as Sprint “roams” on Verizon and T-Mobile does that on AT&T! September 2019 Update Latest update: As we already know, the tower is fully constructed and ready for the carriers to install their equipment. Both Verizon and AT&T have signed leases and are deployed right now. The cell tower project manager cannot predict "on air" dates, but he is very optimistic for service to be up and running by Thanksgiving. Let's hope it all gets done earlier than that so we can see it functional for Halloween weekend. Fingers crossed. 10. Very cool. Are they going to print you up an old shirt?
  11. Way cool! That's great news. I'll see if I can dig up any more info or pics. Thanks for the update.
  12. until
Halloween weekend is Oct 26-27 weekend.
  13. Nothing very current, no. I'll reach out and see what I can find.
  14. Thanks for the updates, Jodi. Looks awesome out there. Enjoy!
  15. I'm pretty sure there will be great service there as well.
  16. It doesn't have to be that difficult. lol Just click on visitor posts on this page. https://www.facebook.com/pg/dumontduneriders/posts/?ref=page_internal They were both iphones. Can't tell if it's new or sparkly. No mustard was turned in.
  17. What up Joey! Long time no see for sure. Good to hear from you. Seems these ATCs are getting harder and harder to find for cheap, but I'll keep my eyes open for ya. BTW, do want me to merge this new account with your old one but keep your new name and password?
  18. Thanks There were 2 reported to our Facebook page on Saturday. I told them to post them here on the Lost/Found section but they didn't. I don't think people understand that nobody sees posts to a page on FB. FB doesn't even let me share those posts to our feed anymore. Just another reason to hate FB.
  19. Any others or are we ready to vote?
