  1. Jason, @JeepingJay36 / president of Friends of Dumont Dunes, recently jacked his knee up pretty bad. Here is an update from him regarding the cleanup. It's still on, but just no raffle. *** UPDATE from Jason/ Friends of Dumont Dunes*** RE: Dumont Dunes Clean-up March, 16th 2019 As some of you already know, I suffered a pretty bad knee injury two weeks ago. I will heal but unfortunately I am unable to walk, let alone drive for the next 4-6 weeks at best. Unable to put on the clean-up as I have in the past I proposed a few workarounds to the amazing staff at the BLM Barstow Field Office immediately following my injury. I have received word today that the BLM in conjunction with some FoDD board members and some great friends will be teaming up and taking on the role and ensuring that the clean-up will take place in my absence. The food menu will be changed to a simpler hot dog/chili dog/nachos/chips/water configuration and their will not be a quick draw this year. I apologize for the inconvenience, however, I would like for you and your family/group to continue to join in the mission of participating in the clean-up, making it a great time and enjoying doing the right thing for the place we all love. I will make sure that next year's clean-up will be the biggest and best yet to make up for this last minute change. Thank you for your time and support! I'll see all of you in October at the Trunk or Treat Season Opener! Jason Ardenski President Friends of Dumont Dunes
  2. Yep. As long as the machine isn't broken.
  3. Anyone else headed out for cleanup weekend? This will be the season-closing trip for us. 😥 I'm looking forward to it though. Hope to see some DDR members out there. Here's some info on the cleanup if anyone needs it.

  5. In the latest forum software update, they introduced giphys. Really exciting huh? 😆 To add a gif, or giphy, to your post, click the icon next to the smiley button in the toolbar. Ten just search what you are after. If you are wondering WTF a gif or giphy is...it's these little animated things that explain your reaction to something... Everyone's reaction to this exciting new update.... enjoy
  6. So far so good on my "off brand" generator. 😆 I don't need to run it 24hrs a day or even for that long so I don't really have a ton of hours logged yet, but so far it's worked great. It runs just as quiet as the Honda and runs just about everything I need.
  7. Yep! haha His hood was all closed up like Kenny from South Park. 😆 He was parked at the highway. I'm guessing he was just going in to check it out without having to pay. Who knows.
  8. Gotta love Google technology! I've done the same in the past. Glad you found it.
  9. Thanks for posting this. A guy posted this to our FB page. Try reaching out to him.
  10. Let's see everyone's pics and hear about your weekend at Dumont. We had a short, but fun and relaxing weekend out there for President's weekend. The weather was crazy. I've never seen it so cool this time of year. It's always been close to 80°, but this weekend was in the 50's. It was a bit windy at times, but Saturday was gorgeous. We only got two whole buggy runs in the whole weekend. One slow and one fast! We were having too much fun in camp.We never even went over to comp hill. The overall turnout seemed less than normal, but it there were still quite a few people out there. I didn't see one Jeep race. All I saw was a bunch of spectators when we went by. Then I went back with my good camera to get some shots and they already had the hill torn down. Oh well. I'll get some more pics up later, but here are a few from our weekend.
  11. I don't think it's gonna be too bad after 6PM
  12. Thanks for the updates. Keep em coming.
  13. Dan, you are still welcome to join us as well. Lou will be out Friday morning.
  14. I guess we should probably vote now. 😁
  15. Wednesday and Thursday look crappy. Friday will have a little W to hopefully dry or smooth things out, and it looks like the weekend may be fairly nice.
  16. Awesome, Rod. Thanks for sharing your weekend! The Apple watch
  17. I've seen many new caps be bad, usually cheap Auto Zone stuff. You'll need to figure out why that spark is weak. Swap wires with another cylinder just to rule that out. Are we talking VW here? I'm not very familiar with that ignition, but yes it usually works or doesn't.
  18. Look into that weak spark issue first. Compare the spark to a known good cylinder. Possibly a bad distributor cap or wire.
  19. I just read about the new HD yesterday when I was doing some GM web based training. 35,500 lb towing capacity is insane. It'll be mated to a 10 speed Allison. I'm not looking forward to working on this thing though.
  20. Here's an update on the cell tower construction. NOTHING has happened. All they did was put up that gate in the boundary fence and grade an access road to the top of the mountain as seen in those selfies. I took a little hike up there on our last dune trip just to see for myself. There isn't anything built up there yet. Not even a concrete slab. There's obviously some big holdup or delay in this. Just thought I'd share the latest. There is still no new tower. I have my doubts if it will be completed by April/May like they say.
