Let's see everyone's pics and hear about your weekend at Dumont. We had a short, but fun and relaxing weekend out there for President's weekend. The weather was crazy. I've never seen it so cool this time of year. It's always been close to 80°, but this weekend was in the 50's. It was a bit windy at times, but Saturday was gorgeous. We only got two whole buggy runs in the whole weekend. One slow and one fast! We were having too much fun in camp.We never even went over to comp hill. The overall turnout seemed less than normal, but it there were still quite a few people out there. I didn't see one Jeep race. All I saw was a bunch of spectators when we went by. Then I went back with my good camera to get some shots and they already had the hill torn down. Oh well. I'll get some more pics up later, but here are a few from our weekend.

I don't think it's gonna be too bad after 6PM

Thanks for the updates. Keep em coming.
-
Dan, you are still welcome to join us as well. Lou will be out Friday morning.
-
I guess we should probably vote now. 😁
-
Wednesday and Thursday look crappy. Friday will have a little W to hopefully dry or smooth things out, and it looks like the weekend may be fairly nice.

Awesome, Rod. Thanks for sharing your weekend! The Apple watch

I've seen many new caps be bad, usually cheap Auto Zone stuff. You'll need to figure out why that spark is weak. Swap wires with another cylinder just to rule that out. Are we talking VW here? I'm not very familiar with that ignition, but yes it usually works or doesn't.
-
Look into that weak spark issue first. Compare the spark to a known good cylinder. Possibly a bad distributor cap or wire.

2020 DMax Takes by Mr. Banks:
dunefreak replied to Dive Bar Casanova's topic in Truck, Jeep, & Car talk
I just read about the new HD yesterday when I was doing some GM web based training. 35,500 lb towing capacity is insane. It'll be mated to a 10 speed Allison. I'm not looking forward to working on this thing though. -
Here's an update on the cell tower construction. NOTHING has happened. All they did was put up that gate in the boundary fence and grade an access road to the top of the mountain as seen in those selfies. I took a little hike up there on our last dune trip just to see for myself. There isn't anything built up there yet. Not even a concrete slab. There's obviously some big holdup or delay in this. Just thought I'd share the latest. There is still no new tower. I have my doubts if it will be completed by April/May like they say.

update! Thanks to a heads up from @raspadoo, Chad and I picked up a couple of these around Christmas time on a 4 day only sale for under $300 with a 3 year warranty and tax. Score! I ran it last trip and it worked great. It is just as quiet as the Honda.

The weather is a major factor in my plans to go. I am ready for some warm weather and dry sand!

Looks like we may be heading out for President's Day weekend for the first time in 9 years. 2010 was the last time we did that holiday weekend. We usually skip the big weekends, but that is probably the only weekend that'll work for us this month. Who else is planning on going out? https://www.dumontduneriders.com/news/presidents-day-weekend-2019-r159/

Interesting. We hear of these stories all the time, people heading out into the middle of nowhere with little or no supplies or backup plan. Usually tourists too.

Great idea. Although it's been done, we could make one new thread for it and pin it. We also have this.. Dumont Dunes Rules, Safety Tips & Dune Etiquette guide on the rules page---> https://www.dumontduneriders.com/rules/ Direct link---> http://www.dumontduneriders.com/dune_flyer.pdf

Definitely sucked that you weren't there. Your buddy Damon was cool and found us.

Thanks!

The shape is cool, but looks odd from some angles. I'd prefer to see more of the motor. Maybe just smaller and back farther so the opening is bigger. I tried finding a pic of my buddy Ryan's V8Rail to see what his hood looks like and these are all I could find. Just gives you ideas. I can get more pics if you'd like. He's just down the street.

MLK weekend was great trip. Although the sand was a little damp, it was still pretty good duning conditions. We got a bunch of fun rides in and had a blast. The weather was perfect all weekend except for Sunday night. It got WINDY. Friday night smudge pot action Saturday morning, the buggy was dialed in and ready to rip! Group run Saturday night we headed up to Sunset Hill Then back at camp we streamed the hockey game and Supercross to the projector. Sunday morning we had quite an epic run going until I found out my rear hub bearings decided to go south. We stopped out near the south end and hung out for a bit and then I limped it back to camp. Luckily I brought my dirtbike. When the buggy is down, it's always good to have a backup ride. The skies that night were full of color. That night our friends, Steve & Becky, cooked up amazing dutch oven feast. We grubbed and celebrated Steve's 60th birthday. They had lots of good dune stories from back in the day. Later in the night, we sat out in the dark taking pics of the eclipse and listening to space themed songs on Spotify. haha It was pretty damn cool! I grabbed a handful of moon pics and put them into a sequence photo collage. It was a perfect cap to the night and badass weekend.
