  1. Anyone going out? We're not. It looks cold. 😆 Looking at the forecast, the overnight lows will be dipping below freezing this coming weekend. There looks to be a bit of W, but it should be done by Saturday. Just a reminder to double check those water levels in the batteries, top off that propane, and bring extra firewood! We use a Buddy Heater in our toyhauler to help heat it up quickly. I also set it at the kitchen table in the morning and crank it up. It's like sitting around the fire without having to go outside. @b370 has been out there this week.
  2. There was hardly anyone out there for Christmas this year as usual. It looked beautiful. Photos by @b370
  3. They are blasting on the mountain this morning.
  4. ahhhhh so jealous! Those are the best trips. Peace and quiet and all the sand to yourselves. Congrats on the new ride! Very nice.
  5. Welcome to DDR. Dumont doesn't require paddles, but it helps. The little bikes will have trouble getting up the dunes, but there are plenty of smaller dunes and less fluff they can play in at the south end of the camp area. (B14 area on the grid map below) The little 2 wheelers will probably want to stay out of the sand altogether and stick to the flats. The Little Dumont is a good option, but it's not your only one. Sperry Wash area is fun if you are limited on power and traction. You can camp nearby (E3-E4 area) and take trails down there. As for the RZR and ATV, just air down a little and you can go pretty much everywhere except the really big, steep dunes or razorbacks. Have a great weekend.
  6. Info from Friends of Dumont Dunes... If you've attended over the past few years, you already know about the great time we have. If you want to join in the fun now is the time! It is a fun filled day among friends, family, trash bags, BBQ and of course the quickdraw! I look forward to seeing you in the dunes! If you are planning on attending, please help us out and RSVP to our event posting to better help us with a headcount. ***DONATIONS NEEDED*** If you are a business owner needing a tax deduction, a long time duner that wants to continue supporting our mission OR just want to help contribute to the great time while we give back to our beloved Dumont Dunes please help us with any donations of the following: -Money can be sent via Paypal (jason@impactsignsonline.com) or Check (Payable to The Friends of Dumont Dunes). This helps adsorb the cost of the food we prepare for those who help participate in the clean-up. -Any new items related to off road activities and camping. Examples from the past are chairs, ice chests, shirts, buggy and SXS parts, games, flag poles etc. Mailing address for any items donated is Impact Signs C/O: Jason Ardenski (FoDD President) 15370 Cholame Rd. Suite #3 Victorville CA 92392 Remember this is a family oriented event and will take place rain or shine!
  7. oh ok, it sounded like you might have been left for dead!
  8. I'm still wondering why you were left behind. That wasn't cool. As a general rule, if someone in front of you breaks, you stop and help. Same goes for if you can't see anyone behind you either. Had I known earlier that you broke, Dan, we would have all stopped and helped you out. Steve mentioned to me at the north pole that you busted a heim and I was very confused. Why were we were all at the north pole and you were still back in the dunes broke down? I apologize for how that went down. I could only see 3-4 cars back.
  9. Love the shots, Neal! Especially Alper's new logo. Thanks for coming out. Thanks for joining us! You're welcome.
  10. Thursday we got some rain out there and the sand was a bit damp all weekend, but by Sunday the sand dried out pretty good. Other than all our buggy ruts, the dunes were awesome! Still a few big holes and witches eyes. i know I found one! 😥
  11. Another year has passed and it's time to say goodbye to 2018. New Years Eve is on Monday night this year so make it a long weekend and ring in the new year in the sand at Dumont Dunes. Many people choose to spend the weekend out there, however it's not quite as busy as weekends like Halloween, Thanksgiving or President's Day. No matter how busy it is, always stay alert of other duners and never drink and dune. Always wear your safety equipment and come home in one piece. A couple things to remember for New Years Weekend holiday passes are required Don't get caught with fireworks. You will be ticketed and they will be confiscated. If you still do light off fireworks, at least clean up the debris when done. Keep dogs on leashes. Fireworks often scare them away and they go missing. New Year's weekend is one of the coldest weekends out there so stock up on firewood and propane. Government Shutdown: Dumont Dunes will remain open during the government shutdown; however, the restrooms will not be cleaned. Additionally, BLM Law Enforcement Rangers will be working during the shutdown for public safety. There will be no medical or fire personnel on site. Use 911 for emergencies. New Years at Dumont is a great party and there's no better place to be when the ball drops. Have a fun and safe weekend if you are headed out!
  12. I had to reduce the size so hopefully it's still large enough for you to zoom in on everyone, but here is the group photo we took on Saturday. Thanks again @FE135 ! 🤟
  13. That's crazy. It's like it got wrapped around the axle. Makes no sense. Great shots, Lee!
  14. Yeah I have no idea how they go from a very specific completion date to nothing happening and a very loose completion "date" with a 2 month window (April/May). This is what we saw on Sunday from Memorial hill. Just a road going up the mountain which has been done for over a month. No tower though.
  15. That's his brake line. I don't think we ever figured out why it broke.
  16. Sunday the carnage continued when Rod's daughter found a nice place to park. oops! We all got together and managed to get it out of there and safely back to camp. Glad nobody was hurt! Then we headed up to @sanddunesaddict's memorial and had a mimosa toast to him.
  17. I know the bullhorn definitely helped, but I mean STILL! 😆 In past years some people never wake up and get moving.
  18. Saturday morning run to the north pole, then the buggy weigh-in, then group photo and dune run.
  19. Saturday morning all the cars showed up to cars and coffee even if they had to be towed. 😆 I still can't believe we got everyone so organized to show up. haha
  20. Friday night fun. Burgers, fire, then flip cup hilarity.
  21. Then on our afternoon run on Friday, right when I was having so much fun and getting into a groove, I drove my car right into a ole big hole. The pics do no justice, but you could park a small buggy in that hole/ witch's eye that we hit. I broke a lower heim and folded the left tie rod back. I was pretty bummed and thought my weekend was ruined, but thankfully everyone in camp came together, had the parts I needed, and we got it back together. I can't thank you guys enough!
