  1. hahaaa thats funny chit right there. I was expecting to come up on you guys or see you somewhere on the way home. We were just a ways ahead of you cause I think we were about 45 mins to an hour ahead of sandchick and malibu.
  2. Hell yeah Mike. I was amazed how well Becky was tearin it up with the RZR Sat night. Good times! Hope your hand gets better. It could have been way worse. You could have lost some fingers. Oh yeah and when we had a dead battery w/ the Rhino and you guys were looking for us.... :shout: "HEY F*KFACE....OVER HERE!!!" That was funny chit. Nope. That sign in the pic was after the small one we almost blew right by.
  3. No...not bring it to Havasu! And no more HOLES in the side panels nice new bright green Mutha Bitchezz smiley right there. Thanks man. I love the lights too. They match the car perfect! I think need to upgrade my stator though. This car has a new radiator that uses TWO fans now so the charging system can barely run the low beams, tailight, and fans. Add two more lights to that and it really runs down the batt voltage. I'm gonna look into doing a stator upgrade and then an Odyssey battery. That should do it.
  4. Not yet. It can always be added later. I'd like to get one eventually. Tell me about it. Not anymore. This is it dammit!!!! Fuggin EMO. Halloween is a no go for me in 08. I have different plans next season. Halloween has been bad luck every year for the past couple years. I am doing kickoff weekend at D, then a trip to G the week before Halloween this year. New car...new traditions.
  5. Thanks for all the compliments guys! And thanks for the extra pics, Jodi. Glad I was able to squeeze a ride in for ya. I was about to load up and said wait a sec. Jodi NEEDS a ride before we leave otherwise I will never hear the end of it. Good times. Yeah I thought long and hard about the black. Black shows alot of blemishes very easily so I was hesitant to do it, but the satin is perfect. It won't show too much sand blast and is also pretty easy to touch up. Thanks, I love it. Looking forward to finally meeting up for soem runs now that I have my car back.
  6. Holy crap. That place rocks!!! On the way back from picking up the rail in SLC, Anna and I hit up Little Sahara. That place is badass! It's got a bunch of everything, trails, hillclimbs, nice flowing dunes, ect ect. We met up with some peeps from "the other site". Serioulsy though, 50cal, Malibu & sandchick, Predu, dirtprincess, and a handfull of many other great peeps welcomed us into their camp. We had a great weekend hanging out. "Observations" are easiest way to describe a trip so here they go... -Dirprincess showed us around the place and was the Little Sahara tour guide. thank you Becky. You're awesome. -late night sideXside runs! holy crap! We did stuff that Rhinos should NOT do. Good driving there, Predu...until you rolled it! We were coming down a hill with the front diff locked and the wheel just yanked out of his hand and we drove right up the side of an embankment and rolled it. Good times. -Sand Mountain is steep! Good azz view from up there. -Ronnie (sorry, forgot the screen name)- awesome carne asada and some badass runs we got to go on with the quads. We gotta hook up again for sure. -grannyfights.com...dammit- it's already taken! Richie will understand. -fatty patty -gang bang at the cowboy camp...WTF!??? -50 cal took my idea the 1st night and fuggin tagged my hauler with a DD.com sticker. So....Anna and I got him back GOOD. We plastered DDR stickers all over his chit. He'll be finding DDR stcikers for a while on his rides. -GOOD duning in the back behind Sand Mountain! -we (anna, me, and 50cal) wandered around drunk Sat night from camp to camp saying hi to peeps. Some cool, but others got way freaked out. wtf? -some of the dumbest riders I have ever seen are at Sand Mtn. It's like NOBODY wears helmets or knows how to ride. I saw the helicopter and ambulances all weekend. -if it doesn't start...unplug it and plug it back in! My GM expertise came in handy on Richies car. -sand was soft and moist as hell- very power robbing -sunset hill is pretty cool but hard to get a spot at sunset. Damn hill is so steep you can't even stay put on the face of it. Many more to come. Thats all I have for now. I'll post some pics up. I have alot! Thanks to each and every one of the cool peeps we camped with this last weekend. I never once felt out of place or uninvited. I plan on doing at least one trip a year up there now. That place rocks. yeah I know...I'm a jackass many more to come
  7. Thanks John. I asked Larry what he thought it was worth. He said that frame new with what it currently has (fully tabbed, side panels, floor panels, gas tank straps, rear carrier, radiator, rear trailing arms, and all the mounts) would run about 4-5K. He siad with just the couple bars that are slightly tweeked it is still well worth about 2K. So I will probably be putting it up in the classifieds sometime soon if a friend of mine doesn't want it first. I thought of keeping it too and building another car, but ...ya know.
  8. Well here it is. Some of you may know what happened to me back in January of this year, some of you don't. I didn't feel like posting anything about it at the time because it was kind of a sore subject for me and my friend that was involved. The kinda short version of the story is this: I was in a bad spot and a bad time at the dunes and got hit by my buddy's rail. It was pretty scary, but in the end it couldn't have turned out much better. The old car suffered some minor bends in some of the main frame tubes. It was about the same price or cheaper for Larry (Short Sand Cars) to just replace the frame all together. Luckily my insurance company (Allstate) completely covered the whole thing thank god. Other than a small cut on my wrist and my knee getting banged up a little, luckily nobody was hurt. It could have been much worse. So...since the accident I have been pretty paranoid about safety. I talked with Larry about doing the new frame in chromolly instead of mild steel. He had no problem doing whatever I wanted. It was slightly more, but I didn't care about price at this point. I had him do this frame out of .095 chromolly and added lots more bracing to it. He added full size braced bars to the front end and x-braced them. We also x-braced the roof. B-pillars were added along with some more support below them. Bracing was put in between the lower front control arms. The cross bracing was up'd from 7/8" to 1". The bar behind the seat was also up'd from 1" to 1 1/4". Then came the fun part. Time for a new color. Out with the old and in with the new. I loved the blue but felt it was ginxed. I went with a satin black frame with the bright green metallic panels and accents. I think it came out awesome. I love it even more than the last car. It weighes about 100-150 lbs more, but it doesn't feel much different in power. I still want to add a turbo one of these days though. Here are some more pics... New car next to the old chassis pictured here whic is now FO SALE should I be sad? NAH! Just look at the new car! loading the old chassis up in the back of the truck Here's me getting a pic with Larry and Nannette Short. They have got to be some of the nicest people to ever deal with. 200% customer satisfaction!!!! http://shortsandcars.com/ It sucked driving ALL the way back up to Salt Lake City, BUT we managed to squeeze in a trip to LITTLE SAHARA on the way back. That place is AWESOME. (I'll get more into that in the trip report ) But here are a few pics of the car in the sand! Pictures don't even to it justice, You gotta see this green in the sun and in person. Needless to say. I'm happy.
  9. Looks like you guys had fun. Seems like the meadow was pretty empty for Memorial Weekend.
  10. Thanks, Dave. It has been on our maps page for at least 8 months now.
  11. ok votes are in and we have a winner. (and it's not OGP because he didn't take that pic which is copyright protected by someone else ) Winner goes to 2nd place...Brian73. Congrats Brain. E-mail your name and address to me at pete@dumontduneriders.com and I will hook you up with a DDR sticker by mail! Thanks for playing this month, everyone.
  12. Welcome to the site. There is quite a bit of info currently on the homepage and the info page is always helpful for first timers. 1) Riders get there at all kinds of hours of the day. It depends on the time of year though. Right now at this time of year you will be lucky to see anyone there on a TUESDAY morning. 2) Check the weather link above the forum. It will probably be upwards of 110+ after next week but no hotter than peobably 80's or 90's before noon. When I go during teh HOTTEST time of the year I get there abou 5:30 AM and leave about 10 AM. Thats when it starts to really get hot. Remember this is in July though. 3) Honda CRV is fine for teh highway AND teh entrance road. You can get there in a Civic if you wanted to. Just stay away from parking very close to the dunes because it can get soft. 4) Easiest route is I15 to Baker, then 127 to Dumont. Especially if you have never been down teh Old Spanish Trail Hwy or thru Tecopa. More directions and map on this page. Good luck with that hike!
  13. I had enough time earlier to watch about half of it but had to run. I will watch the rest of it later when I get a chance. So far it is a really good video. I hear ya loud and clear about society. It scares the hell out of me too. Sometimes I just think I am getting old (at the young age of 30) and starting to realize these things like uneducated people, lack of morals, integrity, work ethic, etc, etc in society these days. I can go on and on. I'll have to catch the end of the video here soon. Good post.
  14. If anyone is heading out there this weekend (Dumont), please take some pics.
  15. ^ The unsugar-coated version of my post. Seriously though. My sandcar weighs about 1000-1100 lbs with almost 200 HP. Thats like half the weight and twice the power of that little, yet heavy as hell, Joyner turd.
  16. Wow this is some old stuff right here. We have had a much better/ updated grid map to use ever since this old thread.
  17. Just curious what all of those peeps are doing this weekend that are NOT going out of town. :freakin_nuts: I've heard quite a few people are hitting the up lake. How about you?
  18. Wish I could make it but I doubt I will have time to stop by. I STILL haven't heard 100% for sure that the car will be done in time to pick up on Saturday. I sure hope so! :freakin_nuts: It's kinda down to the wire, but I'm sure they'll get it done. If I go up to SLC to pick it up, I'll probably just hit LS and skip Coral. There's just not enough time to do both. You guys have a great trip and take plenty of pics for all of us that can't make it!
  19. You can't see the pics in this thread? I can.
  20. his avatar used to be an illusion type pic- he has since changed it obviously
  21. Hey David, is your fuel filter ok? Otherwise you may need a new fuel pressure relief valve.
  22. I appreciate it, Mike, but I'm bring it it so I can bring a couple quads as well. I'm gonna be fuggin loaded down for sure. 2 quads, sandrail, and an extra sandrail frame in the bed of the truck! oof!
  23. haha, I was just given you a hard time. No appologies needed. And thats what it is all about
  24. Badass leather jacket right there! jeeezuz! Anyways.....nice video MQ. Good job putting that together. Looks like some good times in the sand fo sho. No love for the DDR though huh? I see how it is. I guess we're too "PC" for a video plug! :stir:
