They still have to pave the pay station area and up to the top by the ranger station, but the road is paved and 2 lanes all the way from the highway to just past the water crossing. They may have some shoulder work they'll be doing but it looks done to me! It's awesome.

We had a great first trip of the season last weekend. Thursday and Friday were nice and warm with some smooth, fast, flowy dunes. They weren't as sketchy as I expected them to be but they were pretty sharp and steep. The new entrance road was just being finished up as I rolled in. It was beautiful! lol Our buddy Gary built an ATC beer trailer out of an old 1939 wagon! Pretty cool. Hello Dumont. It's been way too long. 9 months for me this year! Way too long. A couple vendors were already there for Halloween. Thursday morning I rebooted the router so the Dumont wifi would be refreshed. lol Thursday afternoon the 3 of us went for a ride to check out the dunes and the new cancer memorial ting near south pole. The rest of the crew arrived and the sun went down. Weather was perfect! Friday morning we joined groups with the pooper 10 crew and had a nice big line of buggies. Friday afternoon it was toasty. I cleaned up my solar panels to maximize my charging. I know. My roof is filthy. lol We hung out in the shade since it was too bright to dune. On our earlier run to the north pole we noticed the flag on the teeter totter desperately needed replacing so we handled it. When the only shade out there is from the pole, we use it. lol Then we stopped off at Sunset Hill. Saturday was a complete blowout as expected. The winds were fierce all day but we still squeezed in a quick ride when it calmed down for a minute. then it blew hard and it was a painful ride. Still fun though! Then Saturday night Alayna and Jerry messaged me needing help after they buried their new coach. We assembled the crew and got em out after a while. Playing tug-o-war with a Ford or what? lol Sunday we woke up to much colder weather and still some wind so we packed it up. I was out of fuel by them anyways. We duned alot! Awesome trip. The completed road leaving Dumont was amazing. Nice and smooth! I love it and my trailer will too. I've got a ton of GoPro footage and other video I'll be working on so stay tuned for that.

I couldn't agree more! 👍

It sort of falls into the same category as everyone going to comp hill at night. Nothing is stopping everyone from gathering in a particular place. But when it is advertised and organized, BLM requires a permit for such activities due to liability. I wouldn't expect rangers to do anything about it unless the crowd was posing a safety threat or it was getting out of control, which it seems like it would. Hell...it got out of control even when it was "organized".

Contact Barstow BLM. It's listed on the vendor row page. https://www.dumontduneriders.com/invision/vendor-row/

Fiberglass Poles, Flag Mounts, Quick Releases, and More
dunefreak replied to Jericho Specialties's topic in General Chat
Hey guys. I like those 360 flag mounts. Gonna have to order some of those up. -
If you are a vendor and will be on vendor row for Halloween weekend, please post up to let everyone know you'll be there and what you'll have to offer.

See this post The online passes are just a piece of paper unless they sold you one with the wrong dates. Then they'll exchange it for a window hanger pass. The whole thing is a mess right now.

ok that helps. Thanks for the info. Just trying to figure out what size to go with. I have a full set of 33x12.50x15 but that is much too wide for the front. I may buy some 33x10 or similar sxs offfroad tire and mount them on 5 or 5.5" wheels.
-
perfect thank you. So are those 35x10.5x15 BFG Mud Terrains?
-
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback and pics. I was worried about that and am hoping all terrains might be a little less rock throwy. Lol Do you know how wide your front wheels are?
-
Wow those dunes look insane right now. I know it's always very razored out and steep in the summer, but that is extreme how steep the face hill has become. Thanks for the pics and update, Mike.

Not at Dumont. You'll have to rent in town and bring it out there.

Davey! Welcome back bud. Thanks for the pics.

Halloween weekend kicks off dune season at Dumont Dunes Oct 29-30 weekend. Although the official holiday is Monday the 31st, Halloween night at Dumont is Saturday night, Oct 29th. This is the night you'll find trick-or-treaters going camp to camp and duners in costume over at Comp Hill having a good time. There has not yet been any word of a truck or treat at vendor row, but the original tradition of decorating camps and kids/ families trick-or-treating has never stopped. Halloween weekend always brings out thousands of excited duners which means we always have to take a little extra caution. Keep your head on a swivel but most importantly slow down around camps and other duners. Holiday weekends can be a little crazy and chaotic, but also safe and fun at the same time. photo: vegasskip Halloween Checklist First things first, you will need a holiday weekend or holiday season pass for Halloween weekend. But after you pick up one of those and have the toys ready, it's time to get in the Halloween spirit! Decorations Candy Costumes

Lows in the 60s! Awesome. I wish I was ready. Enjoy and please report back. I'm curious if there is any construction started yet on the road. More importantly I'd just love to see some dune pics. haha

Purchase Passes through Recreation.gov
dunefreak replied to G4NON's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
So here is what you can do if you purchased a pass through recreation.gov and they sold you a pass with the incorrect (last years) dates. Per the BLM, all season passes receipts will be honored and exchanged for the 2022-2023 season. They are still trying to figure out the system. No need to worry about a refund. As long as you have your receipt that you paid through recreation.gov, BLM will exchange for a hard copy season pass at the gate. For those who have not purchased a season pass but plan to buy yours through recreation.gov, I would wait until October 1st to purchase. Hard copy season passes will still be available through off-site vendors sometime over the next few weeks. -
Purchase Passes through Recreation.gov
dunefreak replied to G4NON's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
Yep, but they screwed up. The dates listed for the pass are the upcoming 22-23 season but then they sell you a 21-22 season pass that expires Sept 2022. I'd wait until Oct 1. -
I think we should do it! Sand Hollow is awesome. Let's go there for Halloween weekend. lol

Been thinking about going on some mild desert rides with my buggy in some of the lesser rocky areas. I picked up some desert tires a while back from @sandmandanbut they are a bit too wide. I'd also like to go with a taller skinny look like some of the desert buggies I've seen racing. Thinking 35x10x15 on 5.5 inch beadlocks might be the look I'm going for. Gives it a decent amount of clearance but not too wide. Any input? I recently saw this Funco down in Havasu at the Mudshark Brewery. Love those shaved Mickey Thompsons. I may even go that route on all 4. If you have any pics of desert tires on your buggy, please post em up.

With dune season upon us and September/ October basically being dune prep month for most, what changes are you making to your setup or ride, if any? Post a pic of your ride or setup that you'll have out there this season whether it be new or the same ole setup you've had for years. I'm in the process of upgrading the front hubs, brakes and wheels on my buggy so I can run 5 lug instead of spindle mount wheels. But my ole blue Tech 3 will be back again for a season of shredding Dumont.

Susuki quadsport lt80 idle extremely high
dunefreak replied to AmyA's topic in ATV / Motorcycle Talk
Sounds like maybe it has an air leak between the carb and the engine. -
Thanks for the update. I'm guessing this project probably won't take more than a couple weeks to knock out. We shall wait and see.

Wow I totally forgot about that. Thanks for the flashback.
