Could this mark the end of Dumont entrance fees?
dunefreak replied to SailAway's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
Yeah ok ESE, I was joking too except for the part of stop complaining. It gets old hearing everyone b*tch about things like this. Everyone says, they don't need to go to a TRT meeting. OK, maybe you don't. But what are you doing instead that is more effective other than bitching about things that you don't like about Dumont on the damn internet. You mom and dad were there showing their support and being educated like the rest of us on how things work behind the scenes. What were you doing? Were you typing up another rant on a public forum to help the situation? Not every place is the same. The expenses are different for each recreation area. You can't compare most places to Dumont. I'm starting to think you don't like Dumont enough to deal with whatever change is needed to keep the place staffed and maintained. -

Good, quit complaining and go there instead! :xmas7: Your comparing Valley of Fire to DUMONT? Let me put it this way- you get what you pay for. -
Dude, no way in hell would I put one of those whips on a 2 wheeler! They make your bike way too fast! You would be one crazy mofo if you put one on. Let me tell ya. :xmas7:

I understand the road isn't really "finished". They are still waiting for a second batch of recycled asphalt from the I40 project. The BLM is first in line to get their hands son it. Once it is put down, it will be oiled then rolled. It will be better, but I wouldn't go as far to say it will be like concrete. It will still need maintenance from time to time. -

Oh wow, Lake Mead. woopitie dooooo. You forgot dead bodies, human waste, and record low water levels in that list of amentities. I can confirm that! BLM, "Jason, is there anything else you wanted to add in closing?" Jason, "ummmmmmm, nnnnno I don't think so. I think that's it." BLM, "ok, then thank y.." Jason, " :shout: well, actually yeah.....one more thing..." everyone at the TRT meeting, " :xmas7: " -
What Buick??? You gotta build it first before you talk smack! :xmas7:

Anybody heading out this weekend (12/14-12/16)?
dunefreak replied to scott's topic in Dumont Happenings
Hey Scott, will this be the first time back out the the dunes with the car since you went through it? -
Good point. I forgot about that method. Pauly Paul used to have his there too but broke them all the time because he'd lean the bike way down like a streetbike in the corners and the whip would snap. I guess you and I don't have that problem.

Well, some good news. It didn't blow up on the dyno today. From what I heard, there was an issue with the intake manfold, but it did pretty damn good considering. I will leave it up to Ryan whether or not he wants to post the numbers up. Hopefully this weekend is still on for the shakedown. I may have my car ready by then for at least a day trip if you go out, Ryan. :porn:

I don't think it's the whip. It's the mount that matters. I have a custom mount at the left rear of my seat on my YZ. I never break them. Does your mount flex at all allowing the whip to move back and forth more? Maybe trim down the whip just a tad too. That may help- there would be less leverage to break the whip.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. I was like wtf, who are they?? :porn:

What do you suggest gets done if you think they are lying about how the money is spent? Are you ready to prove otherwise with some sort of facts? Wanna get everyone on DDR together and hire a lawyer to try and prove that there is some sort of conspiracy and sue the government? Good luck with that, Sam! What do you think could be done instead? Have you actually looked at the cost of everything and the break down? I'll post the link up again. Click here. It clearly shows that there was an unspent carry-over amount of $111,877.07 that carried over to the 07/08 year. I really doubt there will be as much $$ carry-over into the next season due to the decrease in funding that the BLM is no longer getting from grants and green sticker money. I guess we will have to wait and see. And Sam, I think many people don't really see the importance of the TRT meetings. If you have a question or concern, the BLM is VERY willing to listen to your input at the meetings. I never really thought simply going to a meeting would have that much impact on anything. Trust me, it does. Would you rather have a blacktop road and dumpters rather than EMT's and law enforcement? I don't understand. Once again.Click here. :porn: -

You really need to attend a TRT meeting to get a better understanding of how things work. 1st off, the road was never supposed to be PAVED. The recycled pavement was only to control dust. It actually worked REALLY WELL. The recycled asphalt was actually cheaper than the type 2 gravel that they would have had to purchase anyways to do entrance road maintenance. Per Mike Trost (BLM maintenance) There are no plans to ever PAVE the road. It is a dirt road and nothing more than that. 2nd, the fees went up because the BLM lost a bunch of its funding (green sticker money and grants) for Dumont. So yes, things have changed. The public just doesn't see these things. 3rd, Here is the breakdown of how the fee money was spent last year. Click here. You can see for yourself just how expensive it is for medical staff, travel expenses for BLM, road maintenance, etc. I understand your frustration, but you really need to have a better understanding of things and get more involved before you are so quick to complain about how the fees associated with Dumont work. -
Mark, let me know as soon as you get your site up. I can link your ads. All I see on the link is a picture of your banner.

I have had really good experience with El Monte RV rentals. They are nice mohos and one of the most inexpensive. They didn't even flinch at the missing hubcap when I returned it too!

Duneguide now has a sister website that shows many of the differences and comparisons between all the new side x sides (UTV's) that are on the market. There's some pretty good info on there for those looking to purchase a sideXside anytime soon. Check it out.... http://utvguide.net/

Damn, Eric. You always do such an awesome job putting videos together. Good job, man. BTW, I put a link to that video on the homepage.

Hell yeah, Randog. Looks like you had the place all to yourselves. Even with wet chopped up sand, it's still never a bad day at the dunes.

Nice! They turned out great.
