I usually only have a couple chocolate milks around the fire. Sometimes if I wanna get CRAZY I'll drink a Dr.Pepper.

long travel rail crash on open trailer story.
dunefreak replied to 1320's topic in Dumont Happenings
40??? The top speed of sandcars is much more than 40. Even a POS volkswagon can reach 60-70 mph very easy in the dunes. -
mostly quads & some 2 wheelers on the bike ride. You are welcome to join in. Just meet up at our camp at the time we decide on. We camp around bathroom 6. Just look for either the DDR banner or a big gay balloon about 20-30 feet tall. As for the sandrail ride...it consists of ...well, sandrails.

I have heard of Sand Cars Unlimited referred to as SCU before.

Joe's car isn't an SU (Suspensions Unlimited) ...it's a Sand Cars Unlimited ...but it still jumps good!

That's cool. Camp as close as you want, Jay!

Yeah I know. I never said I wasn't addicted to this monster that was created. Besides, other than posting I gotta keep an eye on things ya know.

I don't see that the rangers need to enforce it either, but it IS a common sense/ safety kinda thing to try and smooth onme out if it's near or in your camp. If there is already one there when you pull up and your kids ride it, great...but try and at least smooth it out a little. I have pulled up to camp and there has been one or two in the past and ya know what?...I HAVE smoothed them out a little bit at least with a shovel. Rather than saying "well I didn't make it" and put the blame on someone else if there is an acccident, I I took care of it at the time because I felt it might prevent an injury in the future. You can't compare the bumps in the dunes to unexpected kiddie tracks on the flats. For the most part, the flats are not going to have any giant holes or bumps that are not man-made. The dunes ARE. You have to be carefull of your surroundings no matter where you ride...the dunes, the flats, wherever. I can't see how the kiddie tracks should be something that needs to be ENFORCED, but people have to look out for themselves AND each other.

People riding after drinking
dunefreak replied to 1bad4fiddy's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
Yeah that's a good idea! NOT! In an accident, it's usually the drunk that lives and the innocent guy that dies. -
Richard...you are officially addicted to DDR if you are on it at a tire shop! :eatdrink021:

Very sad..... My thoughts go out to the family.

Recently I have noticed when I take a passenger out in my car, they don't tighten their belts tight enough. I make it a point to not even leave camp without cranking down on their belts. This is a reminder to all of you that seatbelts have to be as tight as you can get get em...not just tight enough so they are comfortable! You have to think of if you are in a wreck that your body is going to want to keep going. If your belts are loose at all you will suffer some major injuries or even die! The recent crash at Dumont where the guy went off the windy razorback at night was another reminder why your belts need to be tight. The driver said he had the belts kinda loose and he hit his head on something. He ended up ok, but if your belts aren't tight enough to keep your head from smacking the frame or rear view mirror, you might as well not even be wearing seat belts. I am not trying to bash the driver here for having his belts too loose in this recent crash, but it reminded me to bring up the safety issue to help remind others. Be safe, people! Double check your passengers...some people don't know that these belts NEED to be TIGHT TIGHT! :eatdrink021: Also, you need to make sure they STAY tight while duning too.

Oh stop, Don. :eatdrink021: It's fine. This person contacted me (e-mail) about getting some info on the site about buggy and ATV insurance and I told them to post it on the forum. Some members have asked in the past about the insurance so I figured it might help them out. It's ok this time. Thanks for looking out though.

come on!!! :eatdrink021: no offense Stacey, but Don is outta line!

So Kenny, you didn't go down there today to go pick it up? BTW, Steveo has been trying to get a hold of you today.

Not you, fool! :eatdrink021: The camp host near bathroom 10 that lives at Dumont for the fall/winter. You knew who I was talking about huh?

Sounds cool, Joe. 2:00 PM works for me. Do we want to do buggy AND bike group rides like last time or just buggies? If we do a group bike ride, I am not cool with 10 AM this time. :eatdrink021: Not that I can't do it, but I just like to take my time getting up and getting going in the AM.
-
Welcome to the site, Sam. :eatdrink021: Alcohol or not..chest protector or not...those kiddie tracks can be dangerous even at the slowest of speeds. I always try to keep an eye out when hauling across the flats on a weekend where there aren't many people out there. Next time I am out at Dumont I might recommend to Don (camp host) to run the blade over some of those things if they are out there if that is ok.

We have to get things in order here. Are we just gonna to a T-Day potluck on Thanksgiving, or do we want to do a normal potluck (with whatever) on Saturday like usual. I am bringing a turkey and a deep frier. I already have them both. I say we could just do the potluck thing as a T-Day dinner for whoever is camped with us, then we can do a normal potluck on Saturday. You know we'll have enough grub for both. Hell if anything, we can have turkey leftovers on Saturday too! :eatdrink021:
