Here's the pics of JJ's sandrail. He just bought the car and brought it out for it's maiden voyage. As he came down this hill.... (note you can kinda see his tracks on the far right) ...the car slid sideways and pitched in a way where the left front tire just stuck in the sand and flipped the back end of the car right over. Luckily everyone was ok. The car sufferred some damage, but can be fixed. Sunday morning they managed to get the roof back to almost normal for now. I couldn't beleive how straight they were able to get it! They just used a bottle jack and some wood and look... Don't worry everybody, he's gonna fix it right though. That was only a temporary fix to be able to go cruise around a little bit. JJ, sorry about the rail. That really sucks, but like we said before- cars can be fixed or replaced and people can't. I am glad you and everyone was okay.

(New Years) We want to hear all about this weekend
dunefreak replied to stalteri's topic in 2005/2006 Season
Dumont was fun of course. When I showed up Friday night, I decided to get my truck and toyhauler buried deep in the sand. The spot that PaulyPaul had was soffffffftt. Jim (Sand~~Snake) got stuck then I pulled in and got stuck as well. It was quite annoying because it took us about 2 1/2 hrs to get us completely unstuck. :angry2: Oh well it was entertainment at the very least for ynot and the tres hermanos. . After getting both rigs out we moved camp over to harder packed ground. Weather was nice on and off. Mostly overcast the whole weekend and windy at times, but not real bad. There was no late night movies on Friday, but the weather allowed for movie night on Saturday. After a buggy ride w/ everyone on Sat am, we stopped and jumped a bit with the cars. :angry2: I hit the jump a wee bit too hard on an angle (not squared up) and landed on the left front at a very bad angle breaking off the dr. side splindle. Wheel went flying but the landing was still pretty soft. The car immediately got kicked around 180 degrees, but we were ok. Thanks again to Don, Joe, & Tim for helping me get my car back to camp. Tim (Originalpimp) had some breakage on his car as well. His crank trigger reluctor broke somehow. But that's not all the bad buggy news. JJ (LVNALOLIFE) flipped his sandrail. Luckily everyone was ok. He came down a hill where we were filming some video and he got crossed up a bit and the left front tire stuck and the whole car catapolted end over. Sad part is that was his first trip out with his car that he just bought. At least the car is fixable and no one got hurt. I'll post some pics under a new thread about the rollover. All in all a good trip though. I had fun and Sat night was a blast like usual. I think my head still hurts a bit from this... , and the champagne, and the god knows how many beers I had. Happy Freakin New Year!! :headbang: -
Ok, cool. Tell me what exact size etc in the thread under DDR gear/ custom DDR stickers.

What's this you guys sh*t? :mc_smiley: I'm not worried abut the weather one bit. If its sh*tty, its sh*tty. The sand, duniemonkie, friends, beer, & myself will be there regardless. :DDR_rocks!: Can't wait.
-
whatever, I just talked to Don and he said it has been beautiful out there since he has been there. He said it doesn't even look like it will get sh*tty either.
-
JJ, Baker is over 30 miles away. Shoshone is like 17 miles away. I think Shoshone would be more accurate.
-
Nice car (and jump), 1sicbuggy :DDR_rocks!:
-
I think it is gonna be beautiful. At first the report said rain (which you still can't go by), now it says only cloudy on Friday & Saturday. Showers Sunday, but I bet it doesn't rain. Shoshone weather report
-
I found this on thedeiselplace.com. I thought it was kinda funny. :DDR_rocks!: It has 24.5's on it. Notice that they are 10 lug! Pretty goofy if ya ask me.

He left pretty early for the dunes. He's already at Dumont right now. (Wed)

I'm there rain or shine. I haven't driven my own car or ridden since Veteran's Day! I'll be there driven or riding rain, shine, snow, or hail. I need to get my fix of sand damn it! f*ck rain. It didn't stop us on Pres. day 05. Just cover the firewood with plastic, get a HUGE fire going and kick it under an easy-up. :DDR_rocks!: :mc_smiley:
-
That's a badass motorhome!! I'm sure I can spot that one out there! :DDR_rocks!: Hope to see ya on the DDR ride. :mc_smiley:
-
Ahh you can't always go by that weather report. It can be raining in Shoshone, then beautiful at Dumont. Let's all just keep our fingers crossed. :mc_smiley:
-
:DDR_rocks!: Yep kinda like a "Drive In" but yeah, a "dune in." Just dune right in and kick back in your dune ride or bring a chair. :mc_smiley:
-
oops, yeah 12-31-05 DERRRR :mc_smiley: I'll change that. :DDR_rocks!:

NO Definitely not needed. It does boost the HP a bunch, but as for duning I can't see how it would help too much. In my opinion, turbo's on these things are just for the hill. I think they hurt the reliabiliy of the engine and trans. My car is PLENTY fast up the hill and def. through the dunes. You'd be amazed the power the Busa makes stock. It's much more torquey than I expected. If you like hill shooting, get the turbo. If you like duning and occasional hill shooting don't waste your $$. BTW, I have beat quite a few full size LS1, LS6, etc cars over at the hill even w/o a turbo. Any manufacturer can usually custom make your car to fit your needs. Josey from Sick Sand Travel just built a car for a guy that was 6" wider, taller, and maybe even a bit longer too. These cars are pretty roomy considering their size though. Sanddunesaddict (Bert) is almost your size and he drives my car with no problem. If you want to stop by my camp this weekend, you can check my car out and sit in it to get a feel for how big they are.

Sat night movies at the DDR staff camp
dunefreak posted a calendar event in Dumont Community Calendar
Attn all: everyone is invited Sat night (1-31-05). We'll have some good movies playing on our 9x12' outdoor movie screen. Everyone is welcome to come and watch if they want. You can't really miss our camp. We'll have a light inside the big gay balloon so it should show up pretty good at night. We usually start the movies about 8-9 o clock or so. There will be some Travis Pastrana Nitro Circus movies (1-3), maybe some From Dust to Glory, Sand Addiction The Movie, other various riding & offroad videos, and of course let's not forget: Fear & Loathing in LasVegas. We save that one for late at night though. Maybe we'll see some of you there. ? -Pete If you need directions as to where we camp click here -

You should love it- big dunes and nice smooth transitions in some parts. Feel free to stop by our camp and say hi, I can give you a "tour" of Dumont. (click here to see where I camp) Don't miss the DDR ride either.
-
Nice setup! That's what I need.

Welcome to DDR! Check out the thread for the DDR ride. --->click here

Bombrider, Josey from SickSandTravel owned and put together my car before he built his own a few years back. SickSandTravel builds very nice cars and fabricates some nice stuff too. They are the only mini-rail builder that I know of other than maybe Sin City Sandrails that are local (Vegas). BTW, "Short" is Larry's last name that builds ShortSandCars. Those cars are my favorite, but I would not rule out other builders. I love my car. It handles awesome and takes jumps and whatever you can throw at it with much ease.
-
Jim Beam is my favorite. I also like Jack Daniels & Crown, but just about any whiskey will do for me. Although I don't sip it, I do love it chilled. That is the only way to drink it, other than fast!

Nah, too transparent. Steve found a 9x12 ft tarp today that should work good though. Can't wait fo rthe late-night movies/ festivities! :headbang: :headbang:
