How about a DDR day trip? Let's get a group together and ride!
rushjunkie replied to dunefreak's topic in Dumont Happenings
I wish I could have stayed for that last ride! I saw you guys tearing through Little Dumont on the way out. I'm definitely there at the end of the month too. What a great group of riders. -

Any scum that treats women that way deserves (karma)2. Jail (and the resulting boyfriends), are an easy way out if the allegations are true.

Is it wrong that I'm looking forward to this day trip because I get to dune and NOT have to mess with my trailer?? I love simplicity sometimes! -

Let's see, if I leave @ about 4 am, I can be there by about 7-730. Early enough?? Not whining though, let's roll! -
That video is evil. It makes me want to take off for Dumont, RIGHT NOW! I love playing around out there when it's lonely like that.

Depending on the exact day, I'm in! -
I always find it a little funny when someone boasts about how much money they make while complaining about a $30-$50 fee. With so much wealth to manage, why stress about this little fee too? You're there to chill.

For me, a BIG part of the frustration would have been not knowing what was wrong. At least now, you know what to expect. There's no denying how tough kids are, and your boy sounds like he has an especially hard spirit to break. Good job Andy, keep up the good work.

**$1000 REWARD**LOST/STOLEN CHIHUAHUA MIX @ DUMONT

More like 30-35 miles as the crow flies. Still a LOOOOONG way for such a small dog. Had my first experience with coyotes out there on MLK. They were cruisin right through camps. Glad you got your dog back. That's awesome! -
Need a grey in large. Send me paypal address to send $ to. Also, you think you can find me some time to actually make it to another regatta?

I don't have much to add, since I only met Al a handful of times and only briefly. In my line of work, I've met and dealt with tens of thousands of people, so I've learned to read people. Al was one of those rare breeds that was immediately and sincerely warm to everybody. It's hard to know when you can trust, or like, somebody; but rolling up to vendor's row and seeing Al, you could let your guard down and enjoy some of the best food anywhere. I don't know how anybody could NOT like that man. Pete had the perfect nickname for him, "Dune Papa." I'm sad because the world, not just the dunes, is without one more of these rare people. Although it's important to understand that heaven has gained a great guy, there's nothing wrong with being selfish and realizing that he's gonna be missed by a lot of people here, today. R.I.P. Al. Keep the grill warm, for you never know when we'll join ya.

Some can afford it right off the bat. Some of us had to focus on saving for it and upgrading over time (trust me, it KILLS me that I don't have a long travel rail yet. I just promised the wife I would focus $ on the house for a little). Sounds like you're already on the way though.

The only other experience I had with it was when I diluted it to like 50:1 to clean my brick fireplace, and even then it was nasty strong, so when Pete says "just toss it in there without diluting" I was thinking we weren't talking about the same stuff. That chit was bubbling real good at first too!

Due to traffic heading out to Vegas on the 15, we didn't make it out there until after dark on Friday night. The road in was a B, and there was plenty of action around the ranger station. Looked like they were manning up for a BIG weekend. The flats were EMPTY though. No big deal, as we had two problems to rectify over the course of the weekend: too much beer and too much firewood. Must be getting old because although it was a beautiful night, we only made it until about 11 PM. Woke up Saturday morning to a COLD trailer. WTF?!? Check the propane, and I find two empty tanks (I store my trailer at my rental property and I think the tenants were using the propane to run their BBQ. Bastards moved out last week too ) So we make a quick run into Baker to swap a tank and grub at Big Boy. After returning to camp, my YFZ has a dead battery and the Banshee hasn't been started in over a year. I brace myself for a long morning. To my surprise, the Banshee started after draining and refilling with fresh fuel. Ran a little rough for a few minutes, but cleaned itself out and ran like a champ for the first ride in over a season. Felt AWESOME to go through the gears after a season off from sand. We ran through the dunes over to the south pole, back though the dunes to the north pole, then back to camp by the second finger. Effin PERFECT weather, and NOBODY out there. We were able to FLY through the dunes because of how lonely it was. The only thing that slowed us sometimes was the poor visibility at high noon. After some lunch and getting the 450 running we head out for an afternoon run. Looked like everybody that was there was out riding at that time. We had a first timer (on sand) with us on a two wheeler and he was having a blast. We had to cut our ride when the sun began setting (no headlight on the dirt bike). Quenching our thirst lasted until about 830 when we decided to bring out the grill and make ourselves some burgers. We were famished at this point and didn't care that it was COLD, we set that bad boy up near the fire and proceeded to make ourselves some genuine gourmet chizz!! Sunday morning came a little soon and we all slept in because we finally had a warm trailer and well, we're getting old and a day of riding and a night of drinking makes my pansy-a$$ a little tired. We went out for a morning ride which lasted until past noon. We did NOT want to head back to camp (it meant that we were gonna pack up and head home). The wind started to get annoying when we were getting sandblasted any time we crested a razor, so we called it quits at about 130. We sat in the trailer and watched a movie waiting for the wind to calm itself some. We didn't end up leaving until past 5. I cannot wait to get out there again. EFFE taking a season off! I need to make up for lost time!

STOLEN: enclosed trailer with 68 Camaro and golf cart
rushjunkie replied to dunefreak's topic in Lost & Found or Stolen
Sucks to hear about his ride gettin jacked. I hate the thought that you can work hard to have something and then some azzhole thinks they can just take it. I hope that not only does he get his rides back, but they catch those sum beetches. Those corporate parks are LONELY on Sundays, those d!ckweeds were able to just pull up and kinda take their time (although its obvious they knew exactly where to go, and how to get it). Even a rent-a-cop driving up and down the alley would help (and cheaply if all the businesses split the cost). I'm not trying to armchair-quarterback the situation. There shouldn't be a need for all that if thieves would just keep their effin hands to themselves...
