As far as the riding goes, I've got that covered. I've been sideways enough on the lakebed to have it down pretty good. 5th gear drifting is awsome. As far as tires, I will be using my stock tires which are 18" and have been worn down to the point that they are almost slicks. They are perfect for speedway. I have even been thinking about maybe a staggered setup with a 18" on the left and 20" on the right. Gearing would be a trial and error process. Right now, I do not want to do anything to my stock shocks. My main idea is to fab up some rigid cro-mo struts to make the whole thing rigid. Possibly staggering the front to leave the right front a lil higher, maybe an inch or so. I would have to work with that. The cool thing about this idea is I can lower the whole quad with out using an actuall lowering kit. And I can just swap out the struts and shocks when I change riding. I have been going to Speedway for 5 years and have put alot of thought into riding my quad there, just because it would be a blast. Hey RUn2it, The guy in the red is Shawn "Maddog" McConnel, He rides at Industry every wed and just got a track setup at the Orange Show in San Berdoo on Friday nights. Your pics look like Victorville.

Last night a Industry speedway, they ran a few exhibition quad races to test the waters and see if people would like it. It went over pretty well. The bikes were kinda weak though, Old TRX250 2 stroke, new suzuki 400, a polaris automatic and another polaris 300 I think. I know my LTR would kill out there. So I got the info and just waiting for the guy to get back to me on when he is going to run it next. Supension, these guy's quads were rolling way too much and lifting the wheels off the ground. I originally was thinking about having my suspension guy crank all the shocks and springs as hard as they will go. But then I thought about the hillshooter guys who just run the basic shocks. My goal is to get the bike as stiff as possible, even thought about completly locking it out, make it a true speedway quad and just installing some type of strait bars in place of the shocks. I want to be able to swap the stock shocks out with the speedway setup since I still want to ride recreationally. Lets hear your opinions and comments. I take every idea into consideration.

August 8 Night Ride - Dissasters
ltr450rider replied to Duner Ken's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
Dirty, sick minded people like me just cant help but laugh at that. <<< -
This is exactly the reason I think you should buy a tank. Who cares if it gets scratched. If you can't find a parking spot, you just park on someone else's car, what are they gonna do, you drive an effin tank. Someone cuts you off, just rotate, aim, and let the hellfire rain down on them. I think you should do it, it would be less stressfull and somewhat of a stress relief.

My take on the lights is it's just like riding a bicycle at night. The light is not there so YOU can see, It's there for OTHER PEOPLE to see you. Yes the hill was lit up very well, but it still got dark in some places and with so many quads running, it's hard to keep sight of everybody. Just go to your local bike shop and buy a $25 light kit. They are designed to strap to the handle bars and can easily be mounted to a grab bar or any other part of the frame. The simple truth is, it is nighttime, and the law states that you need a light, reguardless of how bright it may be. My take on the rangers at the hill is, they could have just posted up in the center of the open area behind the launch berm and made thier presence known. Give tickets to people moving too fast and pulling wheelies through there as I saw a few guys do. Warn the hillshooter guys to use a whip and duct tape a flashlight to the bike. Just my

I'm jealous as all hell. Get those pics up and show us desert people what it looks like up there.

Thanks man, that's good to know. My tires were fine, I needed a rim as the lug holes were "reemed" out. I forgot all about wal-mart, although I hate going there for anything. It was stressful, but all you can do is suck it up and do something to get it fixed. I had a buddy in Vegas who was going to be driving through later that day, we were going to strap the trailer on the back of his truck, I had a few back up plans in place.

Here are our pics. Bigtruckdrmr's camera takes crappy nightshots, especially when there is lots of dust in the air. Although, it does look like it's snowing, in Dumont, In August. I think I might try to fool some people with that.

Where and what type of riding/buggy driving is there in S.A.?

Here's my story, called: Sean's Sh*tty Sunday. Sunday morning was great, went on a good ride with Tami and everything went good loading up. It all started with me being a nice guy and stopping to say goodbye to the guys in camp. Well, as I was leaving, I got 30' away and the "One Wheel Wonder" as someone put it started to dig in. So after a lil' pushing and digging and not getting anywhere, Pete was able to borrow Jakster's truck and pull me out. A Huge thank you to all who helped and Jakster and Pete for using the truck. Ok, so moving on. I get to end of the entrance road and stop to check everthing as I always do, walk around to the front and see some liquid. . My effin radiator sprunk a leak. It's ok, I got plenty of water to get home. Walk around the trailer and check the quads and everything looks good. Get to Baker and stop to check the leak and one final check of the trailer. I look at the left wheel of the trailer and "Oh My Effing God", all 5 nuts are at the end of the studs, the studs are ground down to about 1/4" around, the holes on the rim are twice the original size. Another 5 miles and things would have been devastating. I go to the tire shop down the street and use the guys wrench to get the wheel tight to the hub to make it drivable around town. He tells to go to the Baker Garage which doesn't open till 11am, it's 10:15. Thank god the weather was beautiful and wasn't 900 degrees like normal. Were calling everyone I know who can help us out if need-be and line up some back-up plans. The guy gets there and says he doesn't have a rim, doesn't have a hub, and looks around for 30 mins and finds 1 stud. Long story short, I drop the trailer, drive to Barstow, stop at 3 places and found some studs which barely worked, didn't find a rim. Get back to Baker and spend another hour getting everything put together with a little ghetto rigging. I left Dumont at 9:30 am, Got home to Ontario at 6:30 pm. My final thought, sunday. As for the time at Dumont, it was a blast. There was a ton of people at the hill just camping there, almost looked like a regular season saturday night at comp. We camped and partied in the big circle. Dunepred, those tacos were killer. The LTR was slow, I lost every race, I need better paddles and maybe a turbo just to keep up with some guys. To all the complainers, start your own thread please. Thank you again to the guys who helped me get unstuck, that wasn't embarrasing at all for me.

Well, I gotta work tomorow morning at 5 am, but we should be leaving here by 3 and get there by 7. I'm gonna need a pallet of redbulls to keep me up, or some crack.

Tami's going Stac, she would more than happy to ride with you.

Damn, with this many people heading out, it might be tough to find anybody you know. LOL. All the better

I have never met Don and Ellen nor have I ever taken the opportunity to thank them personally. I guess I never really thought about what they did out there untill I just read this post. I have known that they stayed there for most of the season, did the maintainance and recieved the rhino last year to help stranded duners. I never knew that they were there in part with the BLM. To me, Don did the right thing by helping out the Big Rig, even though it was against the rules of the BLM. But, He did know the rules and is going to have to suck it up and take it. It's too bad that someone at the BLM had to take that kind of corporate action when it was all for the good, no harm no foul, right? It could have been said to the camp hosts, "Look, we don't condone that kind of use of our equipment, don't let it happen again!' End of story. I'm sure Don and Ellen would understand that and abide by it. What's done is done and you cant change the past. We as responsible users of public land need to keep looking forward and do everything in our power to make the big wigs happy so we can have our fun. It wasn't that long ago for me where I had to clean my room before I went out to play. The same goes for any public land where we are granted access for off roading. Some rules may sound stupid, even ridiculous, but we still have to abide by them. Otherwise, we can look forward to a closed riding area and have to find someplace else to ride. In time, we can help weed out some of those stupid and ridiculous rules by attending the meetings and supporting those who support us. Thank you T.R.T. and F.o.D.D., you are the people who support our cause.

In my opinion, all members of the ACLU should be sent to thier own little island and forced to fend for themselves. This is total and should not be tolerated by any self respecting citizen of the United States. These brave people selflessly left everything they know to go fight for the freedom and prosperity of this country. There should be a memorial on every single street corner of the country to remind us of the sacrifice of our soldiers. If you love your country, sign the damn petition.
