The 70's Regatta that DDR used to have every year had to be cancelled because of the red tape that BLM now has put into effect. The cost of an organnized event became to expensive to have. A bunch of you can go out and have individual fun but if you plan to have an organized event you will have to get a permit and run it through BLM in Barstow. Good Luck!

"Fast-rising prices for fuel and asphalt have pushed up construction costs for all kinds of road projects. DOT’s average cost for paving gravel roads has increased from $250,000 per mile in 2007 to $350,000 today." At todays cost per mile and the road being a tad over 3 miles I don't see them getting the funds $1,000,000+ to pave the road. Grading it regularlly seems to be more than they can handle!

Are there any of the DDR folks that really plan on going to the meeting? Here is where I see the importance of some attendance. Show that DDR members care about the dunes and are willing to do what they need to do to stay involved. Some "spout" but won't do anything about it. Meet the new BLM people that are now responsible for Dumont since Roxy and Larry Blain have left. It is our first chance to do this. It's time to set the tone of our relationship. Get a feeling of how they plan to administer Dumont. (With our interests in mind) Submit the issues that some seem to have about how LEO's are doing their jobs. Might be a problem or might not. Just some disgruntled reports of abuse or unnessary tactics being used by BLM or San Bernardino Sheriffs. Before this is even brought up: it's time to have those people post their real concerns so they can be submitted! Why can't the road be graded in time for early arrivals to get the benefits of a smoother ride in. (My Concern) Any other issues that some might have. Presented in the proper manner !...... Remember if you attend......Being courteous and respectfull are important to be able to let BLM know we aren't a bunch of hell raising loud mouthed morons. Your working with a govt. agancy and it's important to adhere to the protacall of a meeting. So who's going? Since the date has been moved to a day that I planned on already being at Dumont I am planning to go from Dumont to the meeting. It's that important to me, how about you?

my experience getting nv ohv stickers, vin inspections
sandawg replied to 1320's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
OK Rap, the old man is coming out in me. There have been so many posts recently that I can't make sense of. Not just by you. Posting in a forum like this is not like talking to someone. There is no tone of voice or anything that could help in understanding what people are saying. It is easy to type something and not think how someone might interpet it. That 's the problem. Interpetation is a sorry way of figuring out what someone is trying to say, in my humble opinion. -
my experience getting nv ohv stickers, vin inspections
sandawg replied to 1320's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
I'm confused......again. Why is it a rip off ?, if I get my inspection done for free. It appears to me that Ride Now on Boulder Hiway has a policy of not charging for these inspections. At least, that is was what Iwas told by their represenative that helped me. Help me out here RAP! I am not a customer of Ride Now, in fact I have posted a couple of times, on here, that they have had a lot to be desired in their service. However, they are under new management and things seem to be imporving in the area of customer service. -

Law Enforcement Contact at Dumont
sandawg replied to ynot's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
Terry, I can olny say that I will be there with you to try and make the situation better. It appears to me that there are some on here that just post the see their opinions on the forum. I am at the point that I feel as you do. They want to post complaints just to start crap. They are not willing to submit information to you bia e-mail that can be used to improve the situation, if there is really a problem?????????? So I think that some of the forum is in a mood to let others take care of their issues.......Yup!......They want to complain and not do anything to help to improve it., Again, I am going to post to try and impress someone or.........Hell... I don'tknow..... Some of the posts make no sence, some just want to spout off and do nothing to improve what they say is a problem! Get serious some DDR folks, if that is what you are...... Do something positve or shut the hell up!! I've seen posts that are pure BS and have noting to do with a serious issue that can be adderesed. Grow up!!! or Shut up. If the administrators feel that I am out of line,,,,,,Let me know and I will shut up or leave the forum. I have had enough of the BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Law Enforcement Contact at Dumont

I have found in my many years that the mood of a contact by just about any LEO, is set by the person or people that are being contacted. Another point is that you want to have a situation in Dumont duplicate what happened at Glamis just keep resisting a good LEO pressence. Show them respect and patience and they will respond in a like manner. In my personal opinion: If we make use of a venue that has the posssibility of injury or death or drugs there is a need for some oversight. Also, most BLM personnel are not used to patroling crowded areas that allow drinking, driving equipment that may have questionable ownership documentation and the few that have more money than brains and overdrive their equipment plus the other things going on. Like underage operation, underage drinking and possible drugs and the feeling that this is "OUR" space to do as we please with no accountablity. A lot of these rangers come from far away on big weekends and it can be quite a shock to see the goings on with us Duners. Also San Bernardino Sheriffs are a fill in and put in a day on their normal beat where nearly every call or contact can be life threatening. I am not Law Enforcement and have never been but have had a relationship with many of them for a lot of years. There are a limited number of "Adam Henrys" in uniform but they are the exception, not the rule. Think a little differently, react a little differently to a contact and the future will be much brighter for you that are anti Las Enforcementd and feel picked on or treated in an unapropriate manner. Allow Terry and others to seek info, offer suggestions about enforcement and see what happpens in the future. Negativity will only bring more negativity. -
