I would love to have a LT car, just can't affort to buy or opererate one as much as I go to the dunes. Come on Obama. I'm drug free, no record, worked and paid taxes all my llife, served in the mitary......why can't I get a free ride for some bucks to buy a new rail and not have to pay it back? Life just isn't fair!!!!!

Sure be a fun camp bike! New price???

I can have my VW motor rebuilt for less than the cost of one new shock for a long travel. Also Tommy, an older fella that we rode with Thanksgiving has the same motor he had 8 years ago in his rail and he can still storm the dunes in that thing!!

Rocket, Booster and I sit on the bluff by our camping spot and watch the people coming in. We did notice a lot more old style rails coming in. We discussed that it may be that a lot of people lost their new rails and have pulled out the older rails just so they can still go to the dunes and enjoy it. Another explanation could be that us old style folks with paid off equipment are the only ones that can still afford to go to the dunes. Damed poor economy! A real increase in numbers of Side by Sides is obvious. Again, the economy speaks. $15-20K vs. $50-100K and easier financing!

any one know if a prerunner truck is as good as a sandrail

Pismo has gone as all of the other riding areas have and will go as long as stupidity, lack of consideration for others and knowledge of the basic rules of off roading is the rule rather than the exception! -

I might just take that deal. I'll double up on all the tires on my Rhino and pretend it's a water pumper. MIne are getting a little worn, what kind of shape are yours in? I'll use the tires and put your wheels and mine together and scrap them!! -

At no time did the film crew harrass us or get pushy. They just asked us if we could move with all the help they could give us. They didn't realalize how much it would take or how it would affect our weekend. We opted to move in the spirit of being decent duners. Granted the offer of the $100 was not the reason we left. It was sort of an insult to be honest. Hell we spend more that that for fuel in a week and probablly more than that for our camp for livations. The worst part of the whole thing was that Rocket and Booster had to make a trip all the way back to Orange County to take their kids back to the airport on Sunday and had just arrived back to camp on Monday noon. They had intended to stay, as I said, a couple of more days. On a side note, I contacted BLM just to get the name of the film crew so I could contact them. I wanted to explain to them how much of a sacrafice we made. Guess I was going to try and get some sort of satisfaction from them. Blm took it upon themselves to contact the fiilm commission and tell them that they were no suppose to do what they did. tha's not what I had intended and they didn't give me the name either. The guy from the crew did mention that they could have digitaly removed us from the short if they had to and that would cost them. And yes some jackets or tee shirts would have been a nice gesture from Hot Wheels or KTM or other sponsors. Yes, I'm "Tee Shirt Whore" At least it's turnmed into an interesting conversation!

I used to go to Pismo in the 70's. Didn't see many bikes or ATV's back then, just mostly buggies. I'm not one to start a contraversial discussion but............. I do have my personal feelings of what has happened to the sand experience since the development of other forms of duning. -

It wouldn't hurt me at all if they didn't even allow those trucks in the dunes. They are to big and heavy and the visibility, as said, is poor at least. I think they drive as if the dunes are all their own! -
They were all over us to help us move and even gave us a $100 bill. The bad part was that one of our group, "Rocket" had planned to stay a couple of more days but he has a 40 foot Alfa toy hauler and is party central and the tear down was just to much for him to do and then to set up again. Their contact did screw up when he hinted that he had a permit and didnt' want to have to deal with the Rangers. I took that as a threat. Little did he know that we know all the key people from Barstow BLM with YNOT as a back up. He really backed tracked when I called him on that one. He offered us the chance to join the catered lunch for the crew but we were poutnig and just decided to leave!!!

A measly 11 days at dumont with great weather every day! First ride for me with Pete and Lou B, Vegas Style and and Tommy who lead a great ride before the dunes got chewed up. My group showed up on Wednesday and the party started. Good food, good friends and all that goes with a terrific dune trip. A movie company showed up yesterday and asked us to tear down our camp and move. That really sucked. We loaded up and came home instead of resetting the camp. They were shooting some stuff for Hot Wheels on the internet.

Well, I'm all loaded up for the next 12-14 days at Dumont. Leaving out of here tomorrow morning. The rest of my grooup won't be there until Wednesday. I wonder just how much trouble I can get into by myself in that time!!!

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Sand is blowing in the wind on the surface of Mars — at least in some places. NASA on Thursday released images documenting dozens of spots on the red planet where sand dunes shifted several yards. Scientists had suspected this was occurring but thought it was limited to a few locations.
