That's about the time I went last time. Horrid memories for me that are hard to shake. LIghtening storm knocked out a guys computer in his truck. People racing among the cramped trailers. Dust so think at times you couldn't see. No Rangers could be found to keep an eye on things. It was bad. Glad to hear it has changed for the better.

I'm about to cut this thing up for a car cover for my rail. Sure would be a waste of a perfectly good awning fabric replacement. On the good side I will have the most expensive rail cover in the universe!!!

My retirement project: Prowler Sand Sprite 4 w/ a-arm front emd. 850 #'s, not counting my fat arse. 2180 turbo VW Comp Hill Dumont!

Got the right size awning and used the day to put it up between small gusts of wind. Not really a one person project but all went well!

Thanks, I already ordered a new steering wheel from him, a little slow to ship but seems OK. I'm really disappointed with CB, the old Claudes Buggys. I have purchased from them for over 30 years and now they fall real short in customer service. Good to hear there are others to buy from.

Does anybody know this company or have experience dealing with them? Comments welcome! I'm looking for another Cali company for my buggy and VW stuff. I've had two bad experiences with CB Performance lately, the old Claudes Buggys, and Rocky Mountain doesn't stock enoough of what I need for the VW buggy Thanks

Watch out for two things! The muffler has to be specific to the engine so it has the proper back pressure so the engine runs properly. Next, be careful on the enclosure to make sure it has the proper ventilation so the generator doesn't overheat. There is a reason the portable generators dont have a lot of "tin" on the exterior, it's not just cost! Good Luck!

2 6 volt batteries are so much better than 1 12 volt deep cycle. MIne run the refer, heater and phone charger and a radio a nd lights all night without any problem at all From your initial post: ..i just want a simple reliable generator ro run the trailer and not be too annoying.... Anything except the quiet more expensive generators are going to be more than too annoying.....If you are in a camp IMHO.
-
I would think the heater wouold run all night without the generator. Mine does with no problem. The 1k should be fine for keeping the battery charged and when the TV is needed. No hair dryers or high wattage appliances either tho
-
Are you talking about a portable 110 valt heater or a furnace built in that runs off of 12 volts? If you have 2 6 volt batteries in the rig it should run all night if you don't want to keep the trailer at 80 degrees and then you can run the generator during the day to recharge the batteries. If the trailer only has 1 12 volt battery it might not work nearly as well or as long.
-
If you enjoy riding at night that would be the ticket. During the hot days with bright sunlight the sand will be hard to read. I have friends that go out during the summer and sleep all day in their air conditioned rigs and dune at night. LIke dunefreak says take a lot of water, and stay hydrated.

351w HO carb and c6 tranny..$450
sandawg replied to Island Chain Racing's topic in Miscellaneous stuff for sale
this is a great deal for someone that want to build a great motor. I just looked it up on line and a bebuilt block is over $1200 It's a very popular motor for a Hot Rod and has lots of speed options avaiilable. It has more tourqe and HP than a regular 351 motor!! Good Luck with the sale. I'm going to check with my neighbor to see if he might want it as he is really into Fords and races at the STRIP! Pat p.s. The tranny is a bonus especially if it is a C6. The c4 is a good tranny too! -
