I've made three trips with the new set up. 1 to glamis and two to Dumont. I have to rate the change as as very positive move. I have about doubled the HP with a small investment compared to building a "Hand Grenade" VW Motor. It's built to live! It seems very reliable too. The Turbo set up was built by AJ Simms in Orange Calif. It's a T3 turbo bolted to a stock 2180 with some custom pipe work by AJ. I can't say enough about the additional HP now available to ride the dunes!

All I heard is, that due to more people staying inside, there were 4 confirmed pregnancys, more hangovers than normal and a lot more people that ate way too much!!! Oh..... and a lot more sand and dust in the stuffing this year!!!! and proud of it!!!

Just curious. How much travel do you have on the front?

Geez Nick, My heart aches for you. I just had to pay a guy to clean those damn weeds off my property and it's only an acre. I just took them to the dump this morning. It was a "Wad" of them. If you have more than an arce to do You will need equipment help for sure. I hope you find something. I tried a drag and it didn't work at all. Untimately he had to cut them off with a shovel one at a time and put them in my trailer. It took him several hours to do it!!!! Good Luck!!

No torsion tube, it will be a full fabrication for sure. I will be a challenge but I'm up to the challenge if I decide to go ahead with it!

What are the chances the truck was driven by an ilegal loaded with drugs!!!!!!!! Or it was stolen! I sure hope he called in a description of the truck and the plate in the stop, prior to the stop!!!! It sucks any time one of our finest are killed!

Understood but I can fabricate the arms and attach to existing frame. Somehow?? And then go with a longer shock mounted differently with coil over shocks.

I may have brought this up before but after a couple of weekends with limited riding partners to go out with it sure would be nice to have someone else with a rail like mine, small VW and ride more. There are so many larger faster Long Travel Cars around now that I'm outta luck. Can't afford a long travel car so a "Plea" for others to ride with. I see quite a few other VW rails out at Dumont so hopefully some of those will see this and respond. On another point.. it really isn't fun any more on the big weekends after a day or so the sand is so torn up and rutted my rail isbeating me up and that's not much fun.ready to just go on off weekends only or just do the big weekends to drink and relax! Thanks...

Specs: 2180cc, 1,25 rockers, 8.4 no boost compression, to run 8-10 boost at 13.0 compression at boost, Holley 350 cfm modified carb to automatically increase fuel when in boost, Off road needle and seat. T3 Turbo, Engle 110 cam and big valve heads. Built to last not to be the fastest VW 2 seater! I'm Happy with it now! It does sounds good.

:ahhhhh: The old man is doing a couple of changes and up grades for the future. I'm having AJ Simms in Orange County do a Turbo for the "Sand Flea" The compression will be 8.4 and I will run 8-10 #'s of boost. I added a sump to increase my oil copacity by another QT. That makes it 4 1/2 now with the cooler and filter set up. I got rid of the new Weber 40's and will run a Holley 350 set up for off road. Decided today and go ahead with some 1.25 ratio rockers that are suppose to add another 10 H.P. Had to build a skid plate to protect the sump. Thanks to my friend and neighbor for the aluminum left over from his build! Having the Turbo Black Ceramic coated and since it's a mid engine set up it will hardy be noticable. It won't hang out the rear as most do. I like it!!! Also had to add a fan to the oil cooler for extra cooling and a benefit of that will be it blows on the Turbo and should help to keep it cooler too. I had the origional fuel tank that was pretty big and had changes it out for a smaller one. I went back to the larger tank so I now hold a lilttle over 9 gallons instead to the 7 for the smaller tank. I figure to use more gas........which means more money too. I have to run race gas now since under boost I am 13-1 compression. Also mounted the boost guage already. The rest of my time has been nut and bolting everything, moving some wires and lines around and generally getting it real sanitary. End results should be an increase of 40-50% in HP above the 80+ on the 2160 VW the way it was. I did have to add about 25#'s to the car making it colser to 875# total weight without my fat arse in it. I'm now ready for Coral Pinks altitude, Choke Cherry at St Anthonys and Banche Hill at the Oregon Dunes. Talked to AJ today and should have my stuff this next week. About and hour or two and it's time to start it up and be ready to go!!!
