Going out this coming Wednesday for a couple of days and want to take some Rhino trips to sites around Dumont. Alrady have done Sperry Wash, the T and T RR south past Riggs road and east of there to some mines and shacks. Any other places that you know about that is good to see and accessable by Rhino??? Needs to be in areas that are not out of bounds areas! There are some good things on the other side of 127 that I have heard of but would not like to have to trailer the Rhino just to cross the hiway! Thanks, :surrender:

Only speaking for myself. I have a 24ft.toy hauler with 2- 6 volt batteries and have never run out of power running my heater all night. I may run my generator for an hour or 2 during the day to run appliances and that has always seemed to keep the batteries full. I only set the heat at 60 or 65 at night too. One of the first things I installed several years ago was an inverter and have yet to use it. I guess I don't know how long I can run it before I run down the batteries. In my case the cost would be a major factor and not something that I would really consider.

I am no clutch expert but my thought is the lighter the clutch and flywheel the better and a hi pressure plate is important to eliminate any slipping with a H/D disc.

Outstanding, looking forward to it!!

That looks like a really cool ride......GoPro does rock. I know I can't do all of that in my fairly stock Rhino but can you tell me what part of the dunes you were riding in??? Ya know, generally where you were? Thanks, Pat

Thanks for the heads up ASandNut2 Class C is for cars, vans, pickups, mopeds, and other vehicles with a GVWR of 26,000 pounds or less; allows towing of a vehicle with a GVWR of 10,000 pounds or less. I know i only have had a Class C for many years and have been towing my Toyhauler for the last 10 years. It is a shade over 10K GVW. Be lookin over my shoulder now!!!! Bet I'm not the only one out here!

"Not so much speeding"? So that is not a problem or a concern??? Maybe I am way off line with this thread! Maybe we should let the LEO's shut down Comp at night like they did down at Glamis! Didn't they shut down Oldsmobile hill at night because of the problems there??? Agreed there are issues at Comp at night but........are they so bad that it should be shut down!! Lets address one issue at a time IMHO. -
I talked to a guy and his wife, from Henderson for 30 minutes before we both realized we knew each other. Damn hats and sun glasses!!!! Talk about a senior moment!!! When did all of the people that say they were there show up? Please, not another senior moment!! While I was there only one rail and and then just as I left a bunch of SXS's showed up! Come on people cut me some slack!!!! Sorry Pete, didn't even notice that you weren't there. Did miss Monkie though!!!

"Speeds around the camp sites are out of control".
sandawg replied to sandawg's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
Something like OGP's idea is what I would like to see. I do see the problem with enforcement but maintain the 15 MPH close to camps and 25 everywhere else on the flats would sure make a difference. Just let everyone know, somehow, what the SPEED LIMIT IS. Just before I left on Saturday afternoon there was a 2 wheeler going flat out in 3rd or 4th gear that passed the east end of Vendor Row less that 20 or 30 feet from the first trailer on the north side!! totally ridiculous, irresponsible, inconsiderate riding!!!!! At least continuing this thread might get some good results if enough people share their ideas and concerns and suggest solutions! I would also like to see the BLM and SBSO get on this site and participate in the discussion!!! I know your out there lurking! -
Sorry to hear it Dale. I must have left just before it happened! Let me know if there is anything I can do! Pat

Ouch! Your brutal Randy....I bet he was there in spirit though!

Did you check all the battery connections at the battery and the starter? Did you check to make sure the ignition switch isn't dirty or loose? Did you check the neutral safety switch positioning? That could be loose or out of adjustment.

sandawg replied to Jmanx's topic in Dumont Happenings
I talked to the Ranger when I got there Saturday just before noon and they said that there was only one little girl that showed up. They said they are going to do flyers in the future since they get grant money to do these clinics!!!! Hopefully there will be far more the next time they do it! -
Got your shirt! Now what? Wanna drop by my place or drop it off at Pete's? In Mission Hills dude, drop by 1003, east of the other Coe same street!!!

Someone went to the trouble to put up a new pole close to the south pole with a mail box on it with a letter pad and pen in it. The purpose is to leave a note or letter to our servicemen overseas that are protecting our right to enjoy our freedom to enjoy outings like Dumont. It states that someone will pick up the letters or notes and send to servicemen that can use our support! I hope that anyone that goes to Dumont will search out the South Pole and take the time to add to the messages to our servicemen that are putting their life on the line to protect our freedom. Put yourself in their position the next time you sit out at the dunes and throw back a beer or go for a super ride or just appreciate the power of the duning experience or any other freedom we have! Thank You!

I sat out at the south pole from 1:30 til 2:30 and not one single DDR member that I could tell!!! Other than that it was a terrific day for a day trip.

Use to live off Broadway and Houghton in the early 80's. Neat to be so close to the monument! Loved Tucson, almost wish I was still there. Hung out at Buttercup with my rail!! Married to a southerner and she can't boil water!! Doesn't that seem un- American? Her mom introduced me to mayonaise cake and mock apple pie!!! She fixed "Cow Peas"last night and I had to add so much stuff to it just to get it down!!!! Happy New Year!!
