Thanks Pete, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good!

Not the time to hold back......Tell us how you really feel! The ones you talk about will be the ones that will cry the most when the dunes shut down because of the totally non caring, socially unacceptable behavior, and abuse of the dunes!!! Grow up you offenders, take responsibility for your actions! I saw the people with more money than brains ruin Pismo beach for the rest of us years ago......It continues folks. The truth is even if some of the people that acted like jerks and children see these posts....there are people in this world that can't be insulted or ever learn anything because they are just plain stupid!

Found it!!!!!The connector in the harness that goes to the mount on the drivers side valve cover was the culprit. Took it apart and reconnected it and tightened up the nut that holds it together and wa la, heard the fuel pump and it started right up!!! According to my mechanic....future son in law that works at Friendly Ford in the shop said that is a common problem.....chitty connector!!!

Getting a code of P0231=Indicates voltage was not pressent on fuel pump monitor circuit when fuel pump was commanded on! Anybody know where I should look now??? Checked the inertia switch, FP fuse, suspect harness on Drivers side valve cover that can be a problem, no find problem. Is it time to chase down the wires in the secondary fuel pump circuit??? Any help appreciated! Pat-

August 8 Night Ride - Dissasters
sandawg replied to Duner Ken's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
I shared an opinion once, found out nobody cared! Then I got married and wasn't allowed to have an opinion anymore! -
I confess! I break the rules every time I go to Dumont....... by camping with a very unscrupulous people ............ people that are socially unacceptable and go to bed too early. Maybe I should camp with more DDR people. Seems like only a few have ever broken the rules. :stir:
-
They wouldn't have been there anyway. They only worked from October thru April!! :stir: I guess people aren't suppose to have to "GO" between April and October???????????? Or maybe BLM just doesn't have the funds to have a full time maintenance worker come to "D" to clean them....... once in a while. Maybe they should charge us a bigger "Fee" to use the dunes and keep the facilities clean! :beer_bang: Wait!!!!!!!I've got Ideer....Get the "dirt Bags" that left the trash all over the Night Drag Area to clean the Sh*t Houses. Yeh!!!!!!.........."That's the Ticket" !!!!!

Monkie, Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I understand it was a picture that was taken of Don and the loader in the illegal, against the rules, etc. etc. act and then the picture was published on some site or something and it was seen by someone at BLM. I can't say it was a vicious act, just that they didn't hear or listen to Don's request not to take any pictures.

Oh, I know that. I just said that I was sharing my views even though I am in the gereatric set.

Pete, I know what you are saying! I saw an opportunity to get the subject out there for discussion a couple of days ago and hopefully get some others involved, insited, interested. You know a "spirited conversation" How many people that use Dumont really get involved except maybe to post something on here. Society has always depended on just a few to take care of the dirty work/decisions for the rest of us . You see where that got us as far as politics in general goes. Pretty much uninformed, accepting the "status quo" So just trying to make people aware that they must get involved/informed more, that's all. It went that way for a bit on here then it died out and got off track some what. Hopefully enough people see this and will committ to getting more involved them selves . At my age, I have definately been there and done that within this subject matter. I don't claim to be smart!!!! just experienced! besides, opinions are like A.H's, everyone has one! Also the demographics of this forum, in general, is much, much younger than I am. I am just sharing an old mans views!!

Yeh, Yeh, Yeh, Just pretend "I pulled my Post:....again!
-
OK, point taken. I do wonder how many of the radical environmentalists have even left the comfort of their homes or Offices to attemp to enjoy the "Land"?
-
So, How do we get beyond the "Status Quo". How do we get beyond/gain some creditability, with the enviromentalists that want us off their land. How do we get the BLM to be more "user" friendly. after all we are the "users" of the land not the overseer's of it. like so many others???? Look at the Mojve Preserve. It used to have many miles of roads that gave people access to a lot of neat areas. Now if you want to see most of it you will have to 'Hike" in. A nice summer hike huh??? As you all know, it's going the wrong way!!! Why do I bother even talking about it? not really, just seems like it!
-
I would assume it happened all lthe years Don and Elen were there. Big and off weekends!! OK, my arms are tired from And I am getting a brain cramp! I guess we stick with status quo. Have a good day!

I want to go back to a previous statement. A solution rather than a complaint or problem! I do see a need for a volunteer/contract temporary employee program at Dumont that has the ability to help visitors in various ways. There has to be a person out there that can help with this ! Some one with the ability to write a "Grant Request" for the funding for a piece of equipment that would be able to work on the road on off days and be able to get people un stuck is neeeded, with a qualified operator. many people are trainable! A small front end loader would be ideal. Traction to get vehicles unstuck and also drag the bucket on the road. It doesn't have to be a "Blade" just to smooth out the washboard. It could be used for preventative measures to eliminate the deep sand where vehicles tend to get stuck after a bad wind storm. ie. like in front of the old vendor row, where many got stuck on one weekend. Any monies received for services to go back into the fund for the program. It can't be that hard, with the proper documentaion to administer this simple idea. Something for the TRT to approach BLM with?????????? Right now I see the BLM having to pay a maintenance worker to do the bathrooms.$$$$$$ Compound w/concrete pads, except for the Helo Pad, why???$$$$$ A Grant if I am correct. Hotels in Pahrump for either the Sheriffs or Rangers, I'm not sure which or who pays for that$$$$$$$ If I was out there for several months at a time I would appreciate something else to do to occupy my time except cleaning the bathrooms. I would hope that my duties wouldn't keep a BLM employee from earning a living. Does this play into it??? Travel time and milieage and fuel from Barstow for an employee $$$$$$$ Some food for thought?

Stress causes dogs to shed too. With the new enviroment it may just have to get used to the new surroundings! Diet changes can effect them too! Other than that I can't help!

Just a shot in the, close the current settings in network connection and then run a new connection with your new set up connected!

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (AP) — Police in Mexico have announced the arrests of four men in connection to the killing of a U.S. Border Patrol agent as their counterparts in the United States search hospitals for suspects possibly wounded in the first such shooting in more than a decade. The men detained in Mexico are allegedly part of an immigrant smuggling ring, and 21 people were found with them when police detained them and seized four guns near Tecate, Mexico, said Elias Alvarez Hernandez, coordinator of federal police in Baja California state. During a news conference Saturday, Mexico police did not say what evidence they had against the four, whom they identified as Jose Quintero Ruiz, 43, and his brother Jose Eugenio Quintero Ruiz, 49, and taxi drivers Jose Alfredo Camacho, 34 and Antonio Valladares, 57. Agent Robert Rosas was killed Thursday while responding alone to a suspected border incursion near Campo, a town in rugged, arid terrain in southeastern San Diego County. He was shot in the head and body and was dead when other agents arrived, said Keith Slotter, special agent in charge of the FBI's San Diego bureau.

"Politics are something that goes with goverment, always has always will. I am still amazed at the amount of politics that go into the Barstow office and the TRT AKA Dumont Sub-Group. It is certainly amazing to watch the ivory towers and the slow grinding wheel that is goverment. I know I was taken aback when I first got selected to the TRT. It is a non paying no power or control only suggestions gig and still there was so much BS that I wasn't sure i could deal with it. After awhile you kinda get numb and do what you can to help our cause". "If you would like to attend the next Sub Group meeting I will let you know when it is as soon as the new group members are set and the meeting time is also set". Sorry Terry, these two posts just hit me!!! I needed a good laugh after starting and following this thread!!!! And your work is appreciated!!!!!

A different direction! I always asked my employees to come to me with a solution not a problem. Maybe it is time for me to do the same. How about securing a vehicle through donation or some type of funding that would be used for pulling people out of difficulty. Have a disclaimer that releases the BLM from liability for injury or damage that be signed prior to any assistance? A multi purpose vehicle that could occationally smooth out the access road on off weekends too. I'm sure that I am not the only one that has gone to the dunes on an off weekend or early for a "BIg" weekend and negociated the road no faster than 5-10 mph and still got beat to death!!! At Lake Mead, I had a boat provided that was paid for by Clark County. The fuel was covered too. I have pulled huge house boats off the rocks in 5-6 ft.and seas and 40 mph winds, all with the blessing of the Park Service. The idea was to avoid further damage or injury from being beat up on the rocks. Call it a service to the visitors! Proper training for the operation of the equipment is mandatory. Donations for the help were put into a fund that supported the program too... Terry is right when he says how frustrating it is to work with the Gov't and his involvement, on his own dime, is appreciated by me and others I am sure. There are just times when the cost keeps going up and the services seem to be directed to something other than improving the experience for the paying guest or customer at Dumont if you will. Is there a workable solution, who knows? Seems less and less likely! I would like to see baby steps forward rather than steps that always seem to go backwards. I'm done! Enjoy your day all and hope for progress in our battle to save our hobby/passion! :hungry: :hungry:

I might as well go here!! How many people ever went to their area and said thank for what they do?. How many people ever told Etreme Outdoor, thanks for putting the Rhino together that he did for the Dunes to handle medical emergencies? Does anyone know what happend to a "pop up" that one of Dons friends loaned to the Clean Up that was never returned? I don't really want to start a bunch of Chit, but??????? I am not going into what the BLM has ever done for us, as duners and Off roaders, except close more areas that we used to ride in. What fool invented WSA's?????? What does that do except close an area to enjoyment??? I understand that just a few have screwed it up for the rest of us......but what and when does it get better and not look like the tree huggers are controling the BLM. I am not!!!! the sharpest knife in the drawer but I continue to see our land taken from us. We pay their salaries through tax dollars and all that does is create a larger buerocricy that protects jobs of their friends and fellow employes. They collect an unknown amout of money for our DD permits and what do we get????? DAMN Bourbon!!!!! probably woundn't try to stir up the CHIT without it. OK, I'll selttlle down! But if i am completely wrong, then tell me. I can spend my time wondering just what the H*LL is going on. As for Terrys comment, yes there are two sides to every story......but! I have worked with, not for beurocries all my professional adult life and never saw anything but people protecting their kind and nothing else matters!!!!!! Damit, I did it again!!!!!!
