quote name='CaptNkllm' date='Jun 1 2009, 06:35 PM' post='178594'] Incase your rail in a giant bubble ... it can be liek one of those giant water balls at the lake or in the pool lol you drive and it rolls... muahahaaa Id say the bag trick with maybe some 3m clear tape on the lens glass ... kinda like the clear plastic cover that comes on pda phones or a tv when you 1st buy it... or the best way would be to buy a camera that was intended for the sand Capt I appreciate the offer to borrow but I just don't do that.....or loan out tools! I could glue the helmet cam to my bald head, that would be cool! If I went out and bought something every time I had a hair brained idea I would have to go back to work for a living.....that ain't gonna happen! A couple of pix...I am going to shorten the post some too. Too much weight hanging on that long post! Keep um coming, I'm open to all suggestions! Thanks!!!!

I know, retired folks have too much time on their hands. Eat your heart out!!! I fabricated a mount on my rail to hold my camcorder. I intend to take some videos of the Dunes and our trip to St. Anthonys in July, while riding in the rail. My concern is :getting sand in the mechanism and damaging the lens while driving, and having the camera mounted on the rail! My thought is to encase it in a plastic bag to protect from the sand but I'm not sure what to do about the lens. I am sure that I will be following someone since this is my first trip to St. Anthonys. Want some good video to show those that have never been there what it is like! I am spooked, to say the least. That place has some tough terrain and bodacious dunes to climb. I know of two friend that have rolled their rigs there!!! I have to be able to opperate it while driving, so keep that in mind when you make suggestions. Help from the photo experts would be appreciated!!!!! Thanks, Pat

OK, now Pete, now take this into consideration.......Can I have a better time with this old decrepid body in the Rhino or on the Quad??????? Makes me no never mind, either will work! I just want to know what would be more fun????? and less "Fatal" on the BOD??????

Pussy!!! You now live in the desert. what do you want a "Snow Storm in May?
-
I would like to go! Should I bring the Rhino without sand tires or the quad with or with out sand tires" Help the old guy out here! What should I do???? Never been but would love trying it out!!!!

Hell girl, plan it, don't just talk about it!!! :hatdance: I' m up for a trip just about anytime to Coral! Except during the Monsoon season, late summer. They get some hellacious Thunder storms in that area!! A couple of years ago two newer trucks had their computers blown out during one of those storms by a lighting strike in the meadows. Not a cheap tow out of there!!! Take care!

I have been there on a big weekend. Memorial Weekend a couple of years ago. I will never do that again. It is insane and people are packed together like sardines. Naturally you have people riding around the meadows and the dust was intolerable. So I am going in a couple of weeks before the weekend. I think the little buggy will do just fine as well as the Rhino now that Mike has cleared up my one worry. NO paddles on the Rhino, just really low air pressure and wider wheels for more flotation. The sand is fine and FYI, the fine sand will go right through a K and N Filter so this is one time a foam filter is better. Also for those that like to trail ride there are miles and miles of trails around the dunes. Can be a weeks trip with no problem!!! Glad you guys had a great time!

What was the problem with the fuel pump. did you rejet the carb or is it Injected? How well did it get up the hill from the meadows on the main steep road? thanks!

Bitter Springs is a trail that runs from the southern edge of Valley of Fire over to Northshore Road close to Callville Bay. It is a nice ride with some neat stuff to see. Also, Skyz the Sami would make it. Jill: [url=http://www.dumontduneriders.com/invision/index.php?showtopic=11337&hl=bitter+springs#28

If they have spark arrestors they shouldn't start fires should they???? I know that no one in here has tampered with their exhaust and didn't even think about what would happen if they went into a fire prone area!!! Tell me when sand starts to burn!!!

A 10 minute job to take off the rear sway bar. I scheduled it to have it done when the parts come in but am wondering how it is going to help. I've had 2" spacers in the rear of mine ever since I bought it and also have offset wheels on all 4 corners. I have never felt like it was going to tip and I run it off road as well as all over the dunes. Now I'm not sure if I will end up taking it in unless they let me keep the sway bar in case I don't like the results of the "voluntary repair" Hell, I think I will take it off and run it around here to see what difference it makes and not even bother to take it in!!!!! "that's the ticket" -
You got it.....thanks. Used to carry it with me when I was still working and occationally put it on before I went on to a New Home Tract while under construction. Should have seen the dust cloud before I even got out of the car!!! didn't do too often cause my customers said it took them hours to round up their crews!!!!

Thought about you before I posted that. I'd rather go to Iraq than the damn border myself!!!! Just thought the whole thing was cute!!!Your guys trained our S.A.R. team in tracking!!!!I still wear my BP hat with pride! On the Baker to Vegas run the suport car for the BP team saw my hat as a spectator and screamed "NICE HAT"!

DRAFTING Guys over 60 ... this is so funny & obviously written by a former soldier. New Direction for the war on terrorists. Send Service Vets over 60 I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing a$$ backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35. For starters: Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy. Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. "My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry." We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some a-hole that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for a while. An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10 a.m. Old guys always get up early to pee so what the hell. Besides, like I said, "I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-b*tch. If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser. Boot camp would be easier for old guys. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at, and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling. They could lighten up on the obstacle course, however. I've been in combat and didn't see a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any push ups after completing basic training. I can hear the Drill Sgt. in the "New army" now, "Get down and give me ... ER . one." Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet. An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start up a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head. These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way. Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see right now is a couple of million pissed-off old farts with 'attitude' and automatic weapons who know that their best years are already behind them. If nothing else, put us on border patrol....we will have it secured the first night! Share this with your senior friends. It's purposely in big type so they can read it.
