Decided at the last minute to drive over to DD and see if I could be of any help. Everything was under control and no help was needed. Enjoyed meeting a few of the sexy ladies of DDR at the signup booth. Used the rest of the time to scope out where I wanted to camp for the Turkey Day Holiday. Spent a couple of hours there and enjoyed the weather and the free "coffee" . Congrats to all that worked so hard to make the day a rousing success!!!! p.s. Will put one of the decals for the Rhino Company that donated the wheels and tires for the drawing. That was a cool "grand" donation Picked up a couple of small DDR stickers to put on the Rhino and the truck, quality stuff peoples!!! Great Show workers!!!!!!! p.s.s Hate it that I missed the "buff" rolling down the finger!!!!! You had to be there

State Farm I was with State Farm and had a good driving record. The agent was a personal friend of mine. He called me one day and asked . Do you drag race? Was that you in the paper. I said yes and why. He said he say my name in the paper when I won Stock Eliminator on Labor Day in 1967 at Polar Dragway at Palmer Alaska. I lived in Alaska then. He told me that he couldn't insure me any more because all drag racers are a bad risK. He cancelled my policy!!!!! :rant_on: Been with Farmers ever since. Am thinking about looking around since they are going up all the time!!!!!

I've decided to take the Rhino and go out for the day to help where I can. If anybody is still here that can tell me what to do it would be appreciated!!!! Any Hendertucky people that want to ride to save gas let me know!!! Don't have any plan and might even stay the night if I need to. It all up in the air as of now!!!!

Just called Nevada Off Road, they are charging an extra 5 bucks for the stickers. A service fee I guess. I now rethink who I trade with. Been bying stuff there for 15+ years. Butches is my favorite vendor in town but occationally I try to give N.O.R some of my business. No more!

Well it's an old people thing I guess. When someone had an opinion or wanted to preach and had a limited budget they would climb up on a "soap box" to do their thing. I am opinionated about doing wheelies in a rial, especially in an area like comp hill or an area where there are other people. In the old days I had a rear engine car and couldn't keep the front end on the ground and know how easy it is to get into a situation where limited vision or concentration on keeping it up on the back tires can cause a problem. Just my

I wasn't pointing fingers. My comment was a general one. In my case if I want to get into an argument I just ask my wife ...Can we talk?.....automatic argument insues. :argue: After 43 yrs I am not intitled to any opinions of my own. No harm no foul!

My Bad, Some of the comments I saw seemed to be beyond friendly chating. I'll shut up now!

Yup, there is freedom of speech. But wouldn't it be better to discuss what this site is all about? dumont, duning, riding, networking, fun, sillyness, associations, social contact???Etc. Ect. :argue:

That's an idea too. Got new plugs and gapped them just haven't put them in yet. Will check the wires too! Thanks

Bought my season pass a short while back and it already looks like it is ready to fall apart. Thelamination is soming off and the hanging "chad" for the mirror is already getting weak. Don't leave it on your dash in the sun as it will bend and loosen the lamination. The old heavy paper ones sure were better IMHO>

Strange... but I re adjusted the valves and reset the timing and it seemed to get better. Will run it a couple of more times and see what developes. Thanks for the tips

I'm going out today to check the push rods to see if they are hydraulic or solid. the rebuild ws about 3 years ago, hope they are hydraulic and that is the problem. Articles I read say that if a motor sits a while with pressure on the lifter they can leak down! We'll see if that is an option. I was under the impression that if the tubes were off that I could pull the lifters out with a magnet. Been too long since I had a VW motor to work on! Thanks for the info.

I can drop it off at PT's on my way to pick up the wife at the airport on Wed. night, if that's OK? Your more than welcome to stop by if your in the area of college and 95. Your choice, I'm flexible! Didn't get to ride the rail this weekend, think it has a collapsed lifter I need to take care of first.

This car I bought has been sitting for quite a while. I am nearly convinced that a knocking noise in the motor is one or more collapsed hydraulic lifters. Can they be removed by destroying the push rod tubes and replacing with spring loaded ones to keep from taking off the heads? Has anyone had any luck running a motor with a collapsed lifter and had it come back without hurting the motor by running it a while. I went with 20-50 oil before I knew what the problem was. I intend to go with 5-20 if that will help reload the lifter with oil. The car had limited runs on it and was a new rebuilt 1835. Any feedback on my quandry?? Thanks

BG, I guess the regular grader is broken and they woUld have to rent one. So with no water in the River they would have to drive to Shoshone for a partial load of water. They can't fill up all the way.????? thanks for the great week!!! dunefamily lost his brakes on the way in and didn't get there until the day you left. I found him and we met! Left before the South Pole meet and greet so didnt' meet anyone else!

Contrary to mdthlfa, I came in last week and really got beat up by the washboard conditions. I left on Oct 1st and it was a 15 mph trip for me in my truck and 26' toyhauler. I've seen it better. But then mdthlfa has a rig that will smooth out the road to hell!!! I think the grader never saw the road. I think it was there to smooth out the gravel they dropped at the ranger site
