  1. Sorry to have missed everyone last night, our plan was to come by after picking up the better half at the airport................BUT my new F350 started making a high pitch and the turbo temp was climbing. We made a quick dash to Friendly Ford and we've not heard back on what they have found..... The truck only has 35K miles on it...... . I was bitchin to the service guy about it being a new truck with this kind of issue is beyond me. He said that he does not see many of the new 06-08 model F350's come in with this type of problem, if it's a turbo....
  2. I dont know if it's a common practice, but while up in Montana last year with friends, they turned off their water pump in the RV and opened all of the facuets and shower and just kept a small heater which kept the trailer above 50 degree's all winter, and they claimed it never frooze. I've seen this in Idaho as well, but I've also heard that water heaters were mostly all plugged in to keep them at 60 degrees or drained. According the weather reports, Vegas is suppose to be getting possible snow on Monday-Tuesday this coming week, so the temps are really dropping, might be a good idea to either drain or plug in and keep the RV above 50 or 60 degrees.....
  3. He's plans to pull it with his new F450, so hopfully that works, but he also heard about the lack of support from the factory, and that seems to be a comment we keep hearing. Nobody else makes the floor plan that has the 2nd bathroom and the wife is loving the washer\dryer combo, although I dont see that happening alot, but it must be a guy thing...."what I only had these on for 2 days, there clean" :argue: Anyway, outside of your landing gear, was there anything else that you've had issues with? Water leaks suck big time, we had one but it turned out that the factory just put the connectors on two of the three sinks with no tape, yahoo's I keep pushing him toward the Raptor's or WW, but everyone's got there own reasons...
  4. :argue: That's because the Tree Huggers have organized enough to raise a lot of cash to give big $$$$ to these A$$wipes. The same group that shut down Kelso, belongs to the same parent group that almost got away with shutting down Lake Mead a few years back to 2 strokes. Theyre not going to be happy until the only thing the rolls across the sand is a Poop Beatle
  5. I completed it, but like Cmyfirepole, I did'nt see answers that I agreed with in all the questions, but I did finish it. Very intresting on how the scores can out, like Bob's my high score was Ron Paul, although its too early to say where the final vote will land. It just goes to show that views are not always based on facts I guess. Thanks for the web-site :argue: more speeches to come I'm afraid........
  6. They kept it for 2 days only because the fitting had cracked in the block and they had to drill it and order new one, the next day.... The service guys up there seem to be ok, and you can follow what their doing on the WEB as far as status goes. Good Luck, and let me know what you find out.
  7. He told me that it's got 15ft for the garage, he's only running 4 quads today, but he's looking for a sand car also. It will have to be a short car.... :kart:
  8. Pete - I've got an 07 and it did the same thing, but it was not the rear main seal, it was the little bypass line on the backside of the block for the overpressure of the turbo. It dripped just enough into the top of the bell housing and formed on the bottom of it. But it can only be one or two things, and if its not like mine then I'd say rear main as well..... Took mine over to "Friendly Ford" on the North side of Vegas, since then, nothing wrong, 42K miles. I also got the extended warranty but only for 75K miles.
  9. Very Cool Big-E, nice trailer!!! :rainbow1: ]
  10. Got a friend who is looking into getting one of these. He's looking to pull it with a 2008 F450 4x4. Does anyone here know anything about the Cyclone line? Apparently it's got a 2nd half bath along with a Wash\Dryer and Frig in the garage. I've included the WEB. Just looking to see if anyone has experience with this manufacture. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-Heartl...sspagenameZWDVW Thanks :rainbow1:
  11. Mybe this is the wrong place for a rant, but here goes anyway; :shoot: Coming from a newbie's perspective; I was at Banshee a month back, and that hill was loaded with "sand rails" doing wheel stands and jumps. Some with spotters, most without. I didnt see any signs nor do I see anything on the rules about vehicles other than quads running that hill. I understand that it may be a DDR or a local knowledge thing but on busy weekends I've never seen a Ranger hit anyone with a ticket in a rail or jeep for climbing that hill. I have quads and many times have been passed by rails and \ or jeeps on this hill. I dont disagree that seperate areas when possible makes the mix of quads, bikes and rails safer. I dont disagree with letting somebody on this site know how we believe Dumont should be or what the local customs are or how we think they should behave to ensure that safety for our families and each other is promoted. I think this group promotes safety i.e. the reason why I joined this group. I believe from what I've read from most of the postings it's the number one issue here along with keeping the area clean and the tree-huggers happy. But some will agree with me that we seem to be the minority on major weekends. This group has addressed many issues with the BLM, maybe a motion to draft some rules or signs that would spell out that hills such as Banshee should be used by specific vehicles....dont know if thats the answer either, but berating each other sucks big time....especially if it's not a known, documented rule. As for common sense, its a fact of life - some have it, some dont, we see it everyday no suprises there. The more experienced Sand Junkie's here need to keep us that are new to the sport and/or Dumont on the proper trail, so that we can also promote the overall beliefs of this group, but not with the attitude of "lack of knowledge or admitting to a stupid event" equals the lack of common respect. If we dont appreciate the actions or statements and we've tried to explain why we dont, then we can kick the person off this site....but we should at least explain why those actions are seen by those of us who disagee with them. For the most part, I think many of the people here do just that, but sometimes our replies are more than over the top, pushing out those who didnt know into a group that does not care about safety or our concerns and promotes behavior like gas bombs near our kids, drunk hill climbs at night, and racing through our camps at 3am with their lights off, or worse running up comp in a wheel stand and taking out one of our fellow Sand Junkies on a quad with serious results.... Off the soap box, my two cents - thanks :mc_smiley:
  12. Good Deal, maybe we'll just go for a quick weekend to just hang out....thanks all :shoot:
  13. :shoot: Was just up to Sand Hollow 2 weeks ago, nice place, buddy owns lots up there next to the lake. We didnt see anyone parked near the lake as usual, we stayed in the hook-up area, do they still allow you to dry camp near the lake?
  14. Damn nice job Chris - Looks Great and for $3500.00 you nailed this one.
  15. Sounds like Logandale would be better for camping anyway....Oh well, thought maybe a good day spot, does not sound like it. Thanks
  16. Yeah OK, that what I had thought, but this guy was just pushing on how he always rides "Dunes" out there......I've never heard anyone here talk about it, but just thought I'd ask.... Thanks
  17. Was just wondering is anyone had site information for "Valley of Fire" I heard from a guy while flying back home that he rides "Dunes" in the Valley of Fire. Never heard of it, so I just thought I'd ask the other locals.....
  18. It must have been a slow day for them - We use our all the time on the beaches and while diving. Never been hit up about it - that sucks about chasing you and the kids off. Tell them to show you where it says it's not legal.....gold is one thing, but his wifes Wedding Ring is open season baby....
  19. Pete - Take a look at this site. Some issues when selecting your purchase: http://www.cameras.co.uk/html/shutter-lag-comparisons.cfm No camera is made to last in the desert, especially the type of riding we all do. The camera you purchase should be looked at like it's going to spend all of it's time in an enviroment that is hostile. The best protective case is typically a "Dive Enclosure", so make sure that they make a low profile dive enclosure, that kills two issues for you right off. All of these camera's come with 2GIG of larger memory, so your really down to Power Consumtion and type. If you travel like I do for work and play, then you'll need to look at types of power. Special Batt Paks, vs. Standard Batteries. If you go to places outside of the US, these special battery Paks will be extremely difficut to replace. Rechargeable, especially the new Lit Batt types are good, but when all else fails and cant charge it back up - you might want to get a camera that allows both types of power. In all the shooting I do, one of the biggest issues is seeing what your shooting. We've all had too much sun on the screen, where your wrapping your hands around or the tiny view finder that does not really tell you what the lens is actually viewing. Most of the Olympus SP models have an interactive view finder, and large LED screen. I find it extremely helpful to have an interactive view finder that shows you live picture viewing as your moving the telephoto from wide to zoom, along with the viweing screen on the back. The next issue is having all the bells and whistles with simplicity. There's nothing worse than getting a professional grade anything with an entry level or mid-entry level of knowledge. It's better to find a really good camera that has some presets, that everyone in the family could quickly set up, vs. the one photo guru in the family. I teach underwater photography a lot and at the end of the day it's the KISS theory all the way....Keep it Simple :wedgie: Check out the WEB Site that allow you to see performance, like all of the techno motor heads here, there is some comparisons of shutter lag time, memory recording time, load speed, ect....you might want to check it out. I shot about 4-5K pics a year while diving and another 5-6K a year at the job. Take your time and shoot several cameras, and it looks like everyone here's got some good ones to loan you to try out. I shoot both Canon and Olympus, they are hard to beat both with the features and accessories.
  20. Gerald - you the man, I agree, flag these Mother Fnnn slim balls...... :beer_bang:
  21. It's got to a point where can no longer be laid back about protecting your stuff. We always keep a tight circle, and of late, were putting out infared sensors at night that are jacked into lights on the hauler with screamers. Everyone knows in the group that if you get within 20ft of the toys, you'll be welcomed with open "arms" Tollerance for these EFFN Low Lifes has to stop...... if it's only to hold their faces in the camp fire coals until the "real law" shows up. I dont know about Dumont, but I've seen the local enforcement here in Boulder City, after theyve been handed over a low life, they have little simpathy for how they look when you hand them over... We've all worked too damn hard for our toys, and all we want to do is spend time with family and friends and keep what is rightfully ours. I'm not supporting being judge, jury and executioner, but I damn sure support using appropriate means to hold a scumbag for a citizens arrest. Sorry for the soap box :porn:
  22. Mine is either genny or propane thats the only choice, but you need BATT for propane relay.... I run 2 of these and they kick Trojan Storage Battery T105 Golf Cart Replacement Battery. Never seem to be without power, but theyre bucks , I think I paid $250 each....
  23. Yep, at Mickey D's grabin the last minute dinner before we hit the sand.....looks like snow up here for sure.. Ok, take care we'll see you next time.
  24. As for the get together...the link for that is at the top of the index page and its pinned in gen chat. This Sucks - I'm at Sand Hollow Dunes, and you've locked a date for tomorrow....didnt see the notice I guess
