Yeah the current owner of the green bike (last I talked to them)apparently bought it from a friend with a 600 in it. They said it wasn't fast enough so they put a GSXR1000 in it. What kind or gearing you running on your bike ? I would think a 1300 would be a little faster than 70 ? My R1 would run 68 all day and the last time I had it out I was at 70 pretty consistently. I was running a 14/60 with a 12" swingarm and 14 paddle extremes. This is something I just do as a hobby. I always wanted street bike conversion so I biult one, then I decided that I wanted a turbo conversion so thats where the new project comes in. Have any pics of your bike ?
-
Is your bike N/A ? I met a guy from Havasu out there a few years ago that had turbo on his busa and ended up breaking the case. Don't know if he ever fixed it but while I was doing 68mph up comp he was at 83.......

Got rid of the R1 for 6. The new bike is an 06 GSXR1000 in a 660 frame. I think that green bike started out with a 600 in it and was sold. I believe the new owner then put a gsxr1000 in it. The kid riding it was a few pounds lighter than me and had me by a bike lenght or two.

I just sold my red R1 Banhsee a few weeks ago. The new onwer may be out there though. He has apparently been out with it a bunch since he bought it. The new bike is in the works but it won't be done for some time. Just got the motor in last week and we're working on the turbo plenum now.

Now that you've freely admitted guilt why not just take whats coming and pay it ?

I need to get some magnesium streetbike motor pieces chromed, but nobody local (socal) does it that I've found. I would prefer to find a local place but I will ship it out if I find somebody highly recommended. Apparently plating magnesium requires a different process and my local places don't know who does it.

Lets see those pics. I'm selling the R1 banshee and building a 06 GSXR1000 that will have a turbo in a 660 frame

That is a R-44. They generally rent for around $400/hr and hold just over 48gal of fuel with a 3-4hrs of flight time and range of 377nm
-
I was pretty consistent with 67-68 and hit 69 once. I think the GSXR probably hit 70-71. that was all at banshee hill though

For having problems that thing ran very well.

The weather was great, I saw a bunch of fast bikes and met a bunch of really cool people. Aaron, Eric, Roy and a few others were all really cool people to hang out with. I couldn't believe how fast Aaron and Roy's raptors were. Thanks to Aaron for hanging out in the sun with the radar gun. I was looking foward to seeing the metalalien bike, but unfortunately Eric was having fuel issues so I didn't get to see it. That was by far the funnest day trip I've ever made.

Either way I've gotta be there for this
-
It looks like I'm going out by myself so I'll probably just drive straight to the hill and park there.

My understanding is that the big concern is dust, lizards and plants. Accidents happen regardless of where you are or what you are doing. More people die per capita of plenty of other things like heart disease and cancer.

I'll be out Saturday for the day.

I think there are too many cops at Dumont who are all mean and too many rules.......nobody should ever go out there again. :whacky101:

That thing was insane. I didn't know the NOS was on. He did a pretty clean job putting that 500 in a 250 frame. Did he say what kind of motor work he had done ?

I'm not too sure about anybody in Vegas who can do it for you? I had a friend of mine in Socal build mine. I would suggest finding a reputable fabricator or even an good muffler shop. If that doesn't work out for you let me know and we'll see what we can work out if you get down this way. I see what you mean with that overheating problem. That exhaust puts off alot of heat right next to that radiator. You know meanwhile you can probably throw some header tape around that exhaust where it passes by the radiator. That should definately help with some of the heat. I used some of that stuff to make a heat shield where my header passes next to the footpeg. I think I paid somewhere around $30 for a roll on ebay and it works out great. If you don't pick any up before 2-23 let me know, I'll be at the dunes then and I'll bring some since I have 50' of that stuff I'll never use.

Cool, I was thinking of the wrong weekend. We too will be out the weekend after Pres Day. We'll have to all meet up.
-
Very cool video. That camera puts out some crystal clear footage. As far as duning goes, I can do it but its a heavy bike at 480lbs. Next time out if I see you guys I come over and introduce myself. When you guys Going out again ? I'm looking at the weekend before Pres day to hopefully avoid some of the crowds.
-
Its out of a 2002 R1. I had to build something since my other banshee always got smoked by bikes :beer_bang:
-
I dont think I met any of you guys but I ran a few up the hill. I was on the red banshee with the street bike motor. You guys all had some good running bikes. I don't remember his name, but the other guy on that conversion did a nice job stuffing that 500 into a 250 frame.

Is the BLM willing to provide any further cost breakdown in regards to where fees are spent. I have looked at the breakdown already provided, but I was wondering if they would break it down further and maybe provide us with the number of weekends that they provide service, how many employees are provided on those weekends, cost per hour per employee, cost per hour for equipment used, what equipment was used, etc. ? Have they provided a projected budget the next FY and where money will be spent ?

Thats pretty extreme You would think they would use some common sense but I guess if they did that they wouldn't have a job
