There was a bike accident on saturday when I was coming back. Bike looked pretty mangled, not sure how hurt anyone was. Prayers are with the friends and family of the deceased. Its really sad that people feel the need to race up that road and try to pass people. Had a few passing me saturday and I wasnt even pulling my trailer, so I was going a decent speed, but it just wasnt fast enough for some behind me.

I feel ya nick. Im sittin at work to. I keep hoping Ill find something with weekends off again. But I guess lucky for me, I dont have people sending me pics rubbing it in that they are still at the dunes.

I think it turned out amazing for the 1st annual poker run. Might just be a couple little tweaks for next year, but all and all it was very successful. I want to personally thank all those who came out and donated their time to man the booths, as well as those who provided tables & ez ups. Also to Mark at performance rhino for the great donations for our raffle. Also his friend who donated the razer skid plates (sorry I dont have his name). Also thanks to all who came out and competed in the poker run trying to get the best hand. We couldnt of done it without all of you, SO THANK YOU !!! It was a great day, even without being able to ride in the dunes!! Cant wait for next year!!

Hello all. Almost time for our first annual Poker Run. After having a meeting last night to go over some things, here is a list of volunteers as well as items some have offered to help with. If you CANT bring the item next to your name, please let me know ASAP so other arraingments can be made. Thank you very much for everyone help it is greatly appreciated. Please report to the registration area at 8:30 for a brief overview of things. Also if every one could please bring your own chair it will make things alot easier. We will have vehicles that are available to transport set up items to specified areas. We are planning on 2 hr shifts at each checkpoint so no one has to work the whole time. That leaves time for lots of riding and participation. sorry this is off topic, but, Did you guys see all the freaking signs about a quick dump station for $5 more?? guy had it set up off the main road. Was kinda weird. Had to pull in then back out into the street to get out.

Hopefully this isnt just an election tatic. Hopefully it doesnt go back up after the next :clown: takes office! Cheaper gas prices are definately making it easier for me to get to the dunes. Hell if it keeps going down, I might be able to make a 3rd trip for new years!~!

Berts name is on the list. I already got reemed for that one from him! And hadnt heard from OGP, so didnt add him. I can add him now though if you have heard from him about it! And ISBB, Im always hesitant to add your name, not sure if you will show! Thats why you have a ??? :moon:

Well the approach came that way after asking for help in another thread and wasnt getting a very much response.

We didnt wait till the last minute to find people. We have been pushing for a while looking for help. And normally we dont recruit people prior to scheduling an event. Usually we dont have a problem getting enough people to step up. We just need a few more people than we normally do to run cleanup. And yes, if a guilt trip works, we will use it!!! Thank you for stepping up to help! We appreciate it! Oh yeah, also this is the 1st poker run, we are working out the kinks!

I do have a list of several people who have volunteered, and ill post it later, as its at home. And those who offered items such as tables, chairs and ez ups, thank you also. Its greatly appreciated. We definately need many more volunteers as Terry stated. Please please, we only need a few hours of your time for our dunes! Please feel free to post here or send me a PM if your able to help!!! Yeah it does suck for sure. Normally a bunch of us from DDR will go to comp sunday morning and pick up the idiots trash they left behind. Sucks we have to do that. But at least some of us appreciate our dunes!! Always nice to have people fly by saying thanks for picking up trash. Stop and help us :mischevious:

Im so sorry for your loss. That just brought tears to my eyes reading that. Thats really awesome he was able to get that last ride. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Thanks for sharing!

well im ready, but my stuff isnt. Cant pick up hauler till wed, then gotta clean it, get generator running, change oil in bike. Shop and fill everything. Ugh!! Good thing I have wed & thurs off! Leaving friday night, late, after work. Should be rolling into the dunes around 1am! IS IT TIME YET????/

For everyone who has volunteered here in the thread as well as in PM's, if you could report to the registration area around 8:30 for instruction it would be most appreciated. We can use everyones help in one way or another. Also anyone who might have an easy up or table/chairs, if you could PM me that would be fabulous. Well hmmm, wasnt sure if I even wanted to jump into this fire, but im going to. Im going to be one of those people borrowing a pass the couple of trips im going to make this season. The last few years, Ive always bought an annual pass. I also donate my time and go to bat for the good cause of our dunes. And the notion of pay or stay away, im staying away alot more than I want to be. Financially this year I cant afford the dunes. But if I can manage to get out a couple times, with borrowing someones pass, you bet your a$$ im going to. Is it right, probably not. oh and 30 or 40 right now to some people is alot, so that could make or break someones trip. alot of people are really hurting right now with the way the economy is. doesnt mean we should have to compeletely give up one of the few things that makes us truly happy!

Its really a shame that this might not have had to be a fatality. Had he had someone else around, could of possibly survived. Its very upsetting to think he laid there all night. Please please please take precautions, DONT GO OUT ALONE. Very sad situation. I truly hope he didnt suffer prior to passing.

I got the time off work, so im in even if I gotta sell a kidney to get there! So we just gotta figure out where we are having the big sit down dinner!
