thanks for ALL the info....after looking at your pics more I realized you had way more ambient light helping you....Brianhead was pitch black until the firework exploded so it was pretty much the only light source... Pete, I was using SP and let the camera select aperture Ill have to do what BP just did and see what it auto chose... maybe I should have used AP instead and let it select shutter might have been a better route to go...still learnin...love it!
-
Nice pics BPG...how long would you remove your hand for?....mine were shot with a 30 sec exposure and it almost didn't have enough light ... Did you have a really low apeture set?
-
oh sure assume its Pistol Pete...
-
Thanks guys....I used a railing of a balcony Pete....if you look on the left corner you can see I accidently caught the support column the first one is a good clean pic though.... I also posted some pics in the DSLR thread... Pete can you PM me on how you watermark your pics, I wanna figure that out for some other pics I took.....ppppplease!

ummm the XGAMES is a COMPETITION with a "C" probably the BIGGEST Competition with a "C" and if memory serves me correctly he did complete it....
-
Didnt TP land a double in the x games(11 or 12)? so whats the big deal(obviously a double is still a big deal for any mere mortal) with this guy doing it...except for the fact that he did it twice in the same comp?

I need to play with my wb when I go shooting again..thanks for the lesson... I use a 18mm(wide as possible) lens(nikon d40 camera) when I shoot landscape shots like that..then close my apeture as much as possible say 22-32 that gives me the infinite focus(depth of field)...I let the camera select shutter usually for that kinda shot...just trying tricks I learned waaaay back... going to Brianhead for the 4th cant wait to shoot some stuff up there... -

Thanks for the compliment :porn:(Ansel is the sh*t but I also really like Peter Lik(yea I know d*ck Lik..haha)) .... I have PS Elements 6... I just need to set aside a afternoon and play with the pics in it... Ive seen the sliders your speaking of...but never really messed with them..the only thing I've used is smart fix, and that only a couple of times. It is fun to be holding a good camera again... its been since my college classes that I was (n2it) The clouds in your sunset pic are awesome, is that from bumping up your WB? -
its hard to complain though when were at July 4th weekend and have only a lil over a week in the triples ... just hope Sept isnt going to be payback time...I'm going to Brianhead for the fireworks show..highs in the low 70's...I better bring a coat...brrrrrrrrrr!

Heres one I took in Red Rock while hiking with my lil ones.. -
Ive heard of people riding that road for recreation, is that true? I think they said they started in Cali and went east to almost NM on either dirtbikes or quads does the BP let you do that?
-
favorite places to hike and/or trail ride and 4x4

Rocky Gap is a blast...you can either park in Lovell canyon and do it or if your one or two utvs or quads you can park in Red Rock(scenic loop..lost creek) and go over from there...the parking area in Red Rock is very limited so large groups can not stage there..it is legal even though its in the RRCA. You can go from Red Rock all the way to Pahrump have lunch and come back...or if your like me and like loooong rides you can unload in Red Rock and have someone shuttle your tow vehicle to Cold Creek....then you ride from RR to Pahrump then on to wheeler pass and down into cold creek..... -
wow!...it blows me away that someone wouldnt help out out there....all it takes is a coupla minutes usually and the people hurt or stuck are always so appreciative.....

thanks for the replys guys....I also looked at the canons but I think it was a lower model(rebel xs) than that Pete....just trying to keep it on a budget ...those canon 40d - 50d are upwards of $1000 arent they? Lil more than I went to spend on a camera right now. -
