ya, i never really paid attention to mine until we unloaded after the last dune trip and mine are close but not aligned right on. i think you would have to have a fancy computer under perfect conditions to detect any difference while riding. some hotshot out there can probably tell the difference but not us goofballs. :headbang:

just insurance. the stock one is plastic and the new one i got is shaped different and looks like it would flow more coolant. with the cool head and the inline cooler i feel safe now. a good hard dune run can get thet thing hot as hell and i had no problems last time out. we will see when it gets hot out again. :headbang:

altitude makes a difference. stock at sea level is about 130. here in vegas 118. my top end is fresh with 18cc domes and is at about 150. i would say you are just fine don.

its pointless to compare a sand rail to a desert car. the desert shows no mercy. a sand rail is a toy, albeit an expensive one. but to be a competetive desert racer it takes a buttload of money.

the dudette doesn't scare to easy on the dunes. she makes alot of noise but its the fun, not the fright.

we saw them too. i almost stopped. looked like some big ones. if i could have turned my beast around i would have gone back to get them. new years is just around the corner.

im sorry but i didn't see 30 grand in the rhinos i saw at the race. you can run a quality sportsman class, 9 car class or even a 5/1600 class car and get a full day of racing in with some competition for less than than 30 grand. of course thats doing most of it by yourself. i can see if your not the least bit mechanically inclined it could add up.

ya, i knew which place he was talking about before i got to the end of the rant. ever since it was bought out and changed from desert yamaha to world motorcycles it has gone to sheet.

was helping out in pit 2 at the terrible 400 last weekend. go fast was there and everyone cheered when the 2 rhinos went by. were those any of your members?

ya it was a great weekend aside from the problems. didn't start off to good. as soon as me and my son got there friday night i pulled in and talked to don from the door of my motor home and went to pull up and tiurn around to face the other way and took out the left front off my silverado and the right side of the motorhome. chris had pulled up alongside the motorhome with my truck and i didn't see him. next morning went to go on the first ride and the scrambler crapped out before we could go very far. so chris hopped in dons rail and i went out on the banshee. went over to comp hill and promptly threw a chain. it was too screwed up to put back on so don took me back to get my warrior and the tow strap and we towed it back. managed to twist the chain back in shape and went through the carb on the scrambler and everything was running good so we got some good riding in. my wife did a cool drawing of tim and his rail and he gave her a nice tip. thanks tim. it was great meeting all you guys and we will be seeing alot of each other in the future at the dunes. next time though i need a ride in joe and tims rails. had a great ride in yours don. hope you made it back ok with those sorry trailer tires.

went to bank of america to make a payment today and was asked if i wanted to lower the interest on my home equity loan. i said sure, hook me up. new deal they have going. interest is at prime minus 2 something percent instead of the other way around. she said if i wanted i could add another 25 grand to it. wouldnt cost anything and wont have to pay on it unless i use it. hmmmm, race car, here we go.

i started my boy on a used LT 80. had to fix a couple of things but it was a great quad. that thing could haul me around, in fact my wife took it on a long a$$ desert ride with me and had no problem. the starter went out and a new one cost about 325 bucks so i put a 100 dollar pull start on it. i still sold it for 900 bucks when the kid outgrew it.

same engine, carb. and trans.

since my boss is on another big gay cruise with his boyfriend all week, i think im going to leave a little early from work and get out to the dunes friday night. i guess dunefreak and most of the people i usually go with arent coming till saturday morning. what should i look for when i pull in friday? i will have an old pace arrow and a red siverado with a red cap on it pulling a trailer with 3 quads on it. i dont have any firewood but can round some up if needed.

best in the desert has a class for the rhino in thier off road races. 2 of them ran at the terrible 400. only had to do 1 lap but when they went by everyone was cheering and clapping. they were hauling butt. faster than some of the race vehicles that went by. looks like cheap fun for entry level offroad racing.
