Yoshi has put his cars through a lot of abuse for R&D.......and it shows in his final designs. I appreciate him being different and not like all the other builders.

Then I must have been in the rural estates.....probably zoned for livestock. Like the rest, I say bring what ya got.....just be prepared for a good time. :boyyy:

There's already someone who does that out there. I had some welding done during President's Day weekend.

The sock puppet he had on with the camera and flashlight.

BFG's or Nittos? need some input
SandBox_Kid replied to dunefreak's topic in Truck, Jeep, & Car talk
I have had good luck with BFG AT's......but was thinking about something else because mine wear fairly quick. I'm glad you started this thread I'm getting ready to get a set also. -
Ok. That's Crescent Dunes.

Where are the Tonopah dunes?

Looks like an awesome time. The color in the pictures is phenomenal.

Wow....I must have been doing this all wrong this whole time. I'm running a VW with an 1835.....swing axle. Seriously though, here's what I think....yes another opinion! I'm a decent driver and know how to use the power I have. I can run anywhere I want at Dumont....I just have to be careful and pick the right lines, as you can't just "power out". Since I put the new tranny in, it has performed a lot better. I'm sure that has a lot to do with the right gear ratio for the size (of the rail) and hp I'm running. I like my mid-engine 2 seater, and can run 3rd and 4th on the big dunes with no problems. So, it's not like I'm underpowered and running slow, but then again, I'm not a hillshooter or drag racer. I just like to dune at a fairly comfortable pace. I would say "fast", but everybody has their own version of "fast" duning. Yes, I am ready and would prefer to have a little more horsies, but why waste any more money on a VW, 1835, swing axle, no travel rail? Especially when I go where I want at Dumont and Amargosa.....and have a blast doing it. It is what it is....a good starter rail for a low budget individual. Not for a big baller or someone who's just out for the show. I have one more adjustment before going to paint......it only took 3 seasons :mc_smiley: .....but then I'm not putting anymore upgrade money into it. I will be saving for my second rail...something LT....and no VW. <----that should tell you something. I think you really need to ask yourself what kind of duning do you want to do....then make your choice. :beer_bang:

Since they report the the Inyo county board, I'm going to to out on a limb and guess they are unincorporated. They have zero community services....no fire....no police....no city hall...not even a park that I have seen. Just to put it into perspective for ya....this is a google shot of the main drag in Tecopa.

I'm talking about highway services. I would rather break down on the 15 than the road through Tecopa.

No, but I do remember seeing it when I cruised by thinking somebody not paying attention is going to smack into this one because it of where it was. -
What made me smile this weekend.......... -the sound of my paddles in the smooth sand. Man I missed that. -wondering how much $hit talk there was going to be in the hill shooter thread. (yes, I actually chuckled a little thinking about that thread) -My son buying me welding gloves for my b-day! THANKS fctyblack84!!!! -Just seeing Bert in his tracker puts a smile on my face. Are you sure you weren't born in the dunes Bert? -being greeted by my extended dune family brought a smile to my face! -finally realizing it's DUNE SEASON again, as I sat by the campfire and enjoyed some friends company and

Nice truck. That beast should get you where you want.

Good point, and congrats!!!

I was pleasantly suprised with the condition of the road. That could be because I haven't been to Dumont since the bachelor party, and can only go off of what I read here. I actually thought rolling out was better than in, but all in all it was as good, if not better, than last year....and without the dust (except when the wind was blowing the entire desert across the road )

I hear ya Capt. Just wait when he gets older. I had the pleasure of watching my son pass on a two lane highway getting around the cyclists and chase vehicles that were racing on the 127 Sunday. He passed with no problems....it's just that it's your child you're watching now. Once again, I'm glad it turned out well.

That's messed up. I usually only go to the casino's if I get free tickets to a show or there's a I want to see. I haven't even been in the Belagio, Paris, Palms, RIO, or any of the newer ones. I'd like the see the water show that is at one of those though. Maybe next time some of us will be in town, and we can at least

The first time I met ya was because I recognized your rail and took a chance by waving. It's hard to miss. -

We had some really nice rides somewhere in the middle.... .....it was 3rd and 4th in my buggy.....then you could hear the paddles on the smooooooth dunes. Man I need more.
