I got the skinny for ya: 2010 draining it for dam resurfacing starting late sept. Then back up for 2011 summer... Sept. 2011 it's going down to creek level to replace the flood gates at the bottom of the dam....supposed to be back up for summer 2012

I posted my pics on the summer upgrade thread...my bad I got it all back, and put togeteher. Phone pics will have to do for now, but I'll try to get some good shots with the paddles on once it's in the sand. I was told you can buff the powder on the frame as you would a paint job, but it wasn't working too hot, so I gave up on that. Does anybody have any suggestions? I have to go see Grant about a new rubber boot that's torn on the front heim, other than that, I'm ready to go throw some sand :mischevious:

Naaahhhh, I'll just keep pullin it out of the trailer and revvin it up instead maybe I'll just have to do a day trip/ boys run. I'd just have to lie to the wifey, since she's been dying, stuck at home all summer. She probably wants a good dune run as bad as I do. I oughtta run up for the next meet and greet I suppose. Eitherway, I appreciate the feedback fellas

I walked around all day sat. with my father in law and little boy, and got so sunburnt. Had a blast though! We must've missed a building, because I saw some pics that I don't remember seeing. Awesome pics, btw. Ate like pigs; had a turkey leg, and one of those 18" dogs Also, found my boy one of those 1:24 Jada die cast sandrails I've been looking for since last Christmas. Walked around the rv displays; really diggin the discovery with the full length slideouts Just a hair more room in those than my old bus I got that one "penned in" on the wish list

andydew replied to Richard Cheese's topic in Truck, Jeep, & Car talk
good to hear; I wasn't sure about my k & n. -
I just found out I'm going tomorrow, Sat., with my father in law. We're trying to get him into the sand craze; maybe he'll get bit tomorrow. I'll be sportin' the ddr swag, fo shizzle!

I just picked up my panels from my painter. There is a lot of detail in the paint job, that surpassed my expectations Several coats of candy blue, over ghost flames, with a smoke effect, and a few other little freebie graphics underneath the candy. I've got all the panels unwrapped, but I'm gonna try to clean up the frame a bit before I start slappin on the tin... I can't wait to get started

We just finished our annual trip up to Shaver Lake. My father in law drug my ski's up behind his trailer, as I was pullin the boat. Had a great time, as usual. We got a few thumbs up on the old "twinkie". It was a little on the cold side; hitting mid 70's; but only 65 one day, and a low of 28 at night. We spent 2 days around the campfire because it was a little too cold near the water...a welcome change! Did some wakeboarding; got the tube out; but the fish weren't biting this year, so no fly fishin this time. The lake dropped about 6 feet during our week, as they are draining it for repairs; that kinda sucked. Had to drag the waverunners a few feet off the sand each morning. Next year will be an adventure with twins( a few weeks until they're due). Had fun with my boy; my wife even got a few pics of me on his Lightning McQueen bike(with training wheels), but I'm not gonna share those

Lookin Schweeet! I've been trying to follow the pics while on vacation; but it's better to see them now at home on the big monitor. Congrats again!

haha I had one several years ago ; ended up buying one for each of my brother in laws. It's not complete though, without the craftsmen tool handled bbq utensil set :mischevious: As far as my grill, I now run a full size gill I got at lowes; BBQ Grillware is the make; black and stainless. Holding up really well. Put it on drawer slides in one of the basement compartments of my bus, and I'm eventually gonna have it plumbed into the 40 gal. propane tank..................someday

I've been burnt a few times. 1st time my cc backed me up after ebay said tuff luck. 2nd time, ebay stood behind it 100%. Eitherway, it's a hassle. I'd say stand your ground the best you can. New is described as never installed, so he has misrepresented the item he sold. Getting ebay involved in a dispute can sometimes change the leverage in your favor. Good luck

Warranty Smarranty Probably smart; I threw caution to the wind, running an edge programmer, intake, and open pipe; I just hope it doesn't bite me

I wouldn't bother with the nitrogen, if it costs that much. As long as you're checking your pressures periodically, plain old air will work just fine! That's all we use. Both of your tire choices are excellent tires. Michelins are the top of the line, and the cost reflects this, but goodyear makes an excellent tire as well. I believe that model is a 120 psi rated tire( very good). Goodyear also, to the best of my knowledge, manufactures Kelley tires. I have a mobile tire guy here in SoCal. that got me Kelley KSR 1's that size, for my pick up, for right around $300 each. I don't know if he'd travel that far, but he does get competetive pricing. Either of these 3 tires will work out great for you.

I do all of our fleet's tires. I've got about 300 HD truck tires installed on equipment that I'm in charge of. In my experience, the Toyo's hold up about as well as most foreign tires do . We run bridgestones, Michelins( real expensive though), and Kelley's. I like the Kelley's because of the lower cost, and the country of origin ; my point being: you really do get what you pay for in tires. Tire pressure is vital, especially on dual applications. Bridgestone did a study of the effects of 5 lbs. difference between a brand new set of mated duals, and found that the under inflated one ends up being drug, by the properly inflated one, 13 feet per mile. Not only is that a lot of unnecessary wear, but it also generates a lot of heat, which will cause blowouts as the casings age. Other than that, keep the sun off them in storage via covers, and block them off the dirt(a theory that dirt pulls moisture)[ I use old mud flaps]. Also, routinely check for weather cracking/ dry rot, and or blisters(swelling) and cuts/injuries. I've seen just about every brand blowout, so nothing's guaranteed. I had a steer tire go at 60 mph, destroyed the front end of the vehicle, but thank God no one was along side me, or they'd have died. It jerked the rig over about 15 ft, but it didn't flip It's cheap peace of mind to replace them if in doubt. For our fleet, if we get 10 yrs before the casings go, we're doing good; but garage/ solar protection will increase your tire life.

Congrats on the new exhaust, I just put a 4" srtaight through system under my dually. I hear the turbo a whole lot more now; sounds like a freakin jet taking off Smokes pretty dang good, too I did mine for mpg reasons, due to all the smog equip. under my '09. Any other plans for yours?
-
I thought I'd dig this thread out for an update: I went and bought the 4" turbo back exhaust, to remove my catalytic converter too. I haven't seen much difference in fuel economy, or exh. temps, compared to when I removed just the DPF. I might have wasted $400 buying this, but I just had to find out for myself. I do notice the diesel smell A LOT MORE...Especially parking it in the garage;...Oh well. I'm still getting around 12-13 mpg in town. (I'm considering full tank averages, not a short "feather footing spurt" of 25mpg.) I have yet to see if it''l improve on the highway. I was getting around 14 hwy. bone stock, and I got about 16-17hwy. with the DPF removed. I'll repost after I know for sure, in case anybody else is dealing with this emissions garbage. As for the temps, I've still pegged 1450 next to, and then in front of, a loud "vacuum cleaner" ricer. I haven't seen any significant drop with the removal of my catalytic conv. Perplexed at the comparison of the big Caterpillar engines, I studied the exhaust and discovered the reason they're showing cooler exh. temps: I believe it's due to the location of the pyrometer bung/sensor. The big Cats have it after the turbo, where my duramax has it before the turbo. I think this would explain the almost instant drop in temps(at the gauge) when I let off in the rig. Either way, One benefit to the turbo back pipe is the smoke! I turned up the setting on the programmer for fun, and holy cow! I might've beat that ricer simply because he couldn't see the road

My bad; I shoulda read the rules... Still a great job guys!

That warranty sounds like a good idea. I just had to replace the front wheel bearing on my wifes tahoe; an 07 with 40k miles(just out of warranty). I pulled the thing apart, and drove up to the dealership...that lil' cost me $450 just for the part, and I did the work myself. I told the wife to stop cornering like shes in nascar A $50 copay sounds pretty good to me!

See, now this is what DDR isall about Responsible people, who not only aren't ruining the dunes for the rest of us, but doing our part to help keep these places open. Great job guys As for the gangstas :clown: who did this, don't worry, you'll get yours :shit_fan:

Right on; I got a 16 tire expando lowbed, so I've seen some permit loads myself. The dmax and allison is why I bought my pickup; I absolutely love the auto downshift feature. Next best thing to jakes. I haven't run a gravel pit yet, but I've seen it a few times :ahhhhh: Lately, I saw a lowbed hauling an earthmover northbound going down the grapevine. He Musta been doin 90 :praying: He was all the way up top at the end of the ramp(and that's the steep, long one).Scary. Your bud must be misinformed, to be nice about it. always let the motor hold you back, with light and steady braking when necessary
