we will have a pretty big group out there. Over by 3.

I Beleive there was a way from Sperry Wash, but i think you have to go down a gravel Road, that is considered non-OHV. I also heard there were people calling the cops on OHV riders.

I ran 10 psi today on 91, will be running 11 on 91 most of the time. Can go 14psi on race if i chose to.

Drone "Follow" Video Camp GTP Season Opener 2015
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to sand chick's topic in Dumont Videos
this was just a test run to see how it would do in the dunes. we weren't sure how it would do around the dunes. This drone could record for about 10-15 minutes, and has a top speed of 23mph. It's not easy to go 23mph... lol The speed is why i was looping around, and avoiding crashing it into a dune is why i stayed in the small area. There are so many possibilites with this. This was at 50 feet up. I think it could be safe to use it lower, making some parts look cooler. It was pretty damn fun, but i was bummed it didn't get the wheelies i pulled in the RZR. it was behind us. -

Does anybody here dumont dune riders stickers?
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to kofire's topic in General Chat
we have some at our shop, we don't give them away, but they aren't too expensive. They are all smaller-ish ones. We have them on vendor Row out there also. -
i've been trying to enjoy cool weather going all over the west coast it feels like. It was cool at St. Anthony, but it's been hot out all summer. With a summer full of toy hauler issues, and the new RZR, i am looking forward to some peaceful, easy Dumont time. I think we have talk of a trip on the 16th-18th, but will see how that goes.

i'm very interested to see one, and hoping to get a chance to drive one. I love Yamaha. But, I think this thing is straight up FUGLY. The listed travel on the suspension is close to the RZR but so is the Maverick. The Maverick suspension isn't as good as the XP1000. It is very close, and most people that have the Maverick aren't complaining that i have heard. I still don't think the YXZ will ride as good as a RZR, and a RZR with the rebuild kit will most likely smoke it... This is all my opinion of course. I believe the motor is proven and should be a solid piece, but time will tell if the transmission and clutch will end up holding up. Yamaha (and others) say they have been tesing for 2 years so i think (being Yamaha not Polaris) that their testing resulted in a good product. We will see. The Power claims seem to have been proven wrong, with pulls only getting in the low 80s. That isn't much more then a 2015 XP1000. hoping more information comes out on that. I love the step forward of sequential shifting, but for whatever reason the Yamaha just doesn't have me all jazzed up about it. I'll be happy if i'm proven wrong. It will have to be crazy badd a$$ to get me to sell my RZR with everything I have done to it know, but another strong product in the market can do nothing but help us and what we do. I'm still surprised that we didn't see Yamaha at the UTV Invasion in Idaho. I was really hoping for a look there. If they are good, then I'll have one on my list to get as a desert ride. My RZR is for dunes.

looks like the rear suspension isn't good. Won't be able to compete with RZR, Maverick, or wildcat. They could be targeting the trail market more also.
-
i wasn't expecting to be impressed. the photos sure don't make it look cool. 112hp with Manual could be ok, but depending on weight, even with manual may still not be enough for the dunes. Still no idea what the suspension is. That will be a huge deciding factor in how it will do. You don't see too many Wild Cats out there as most don't like the way they look. Yamaha might be in the same boat. Manual could be a cool push of the market. Still don't know the price either....

i guess you gotta do something when your Artic Cat has been in the shop for as long as his has.... Seems like a decent way to spend some time.

I'm just doing 12v, with cheap controller. most I have seen is 19 amps, at coral pink a few weeks ago. 400w at full power is almost impossible without sun tracking, you never get full sun on the panels for make full power. 12v system with mppt is what I am planning on doing. The inverter should have a switch built in to auto transfer for inverter use. I installed an Auto switch to transfer only from Gen power and Shore power. The autoswitch is $100 and it's not hard to put in overall. They need some space and the wire to make it work. Most Newer RV come with the transfer switch for Shore/ Gen. Since the Inverter would have the transfer you would be good. You have to buy a Grid tie inverter, you can't just by any inverter. there is a difference in ground tie to Neutral and not. Take a look at the Xantrex and Magnum inverters. I got the Xantrex 3012 Pure Sine. Pure sine is best for all the electronics today.

I had 300 watt at first. I only got about 40-50 amp hours a day. Which wasn't enough over the winter months at Dumont. The TV, inverter itself, DVD, takes 4-7. For a few hours that ads up. I have 4x 6 volts (cheap sams Club) and that would be a minimum. Now with the 4 panels, and summer, I can make over 100 amp hours. But without running the heater at night I don't use much power. I have all LED lights inside also. It's all about amp hour use, and storage. Just leaving my Inverter on, no real load is 3a. For 10 hours that's 30 amp hour. So you have to generate enough real power. The good inverters have huge battery chargers that charge fast to help. The 3000 I have is overkill, but it did run the AC for over an hour in an emergency before. The 2k is enough and you just power half of the AC panel in the RV. This works well for me now. I had my inverter freak out and not run my AC properly so I had to bypass the inverter in that AC feed. I am going to get this controller with the readout part and Shunt, http://www.solar-electric.com/inverters-controllers-accessories/chco/blskyenmpsoc/blue-sky-energy-solar-charge-controller-sb2512ix-hv.html This MPPT controller should help in the winter when you can't generate quite as much power. The Readout will tell me what's going on. Morningstar is great stuff, but I like all the functions that Bluesky offers. I got all my stuff from WindyNation.com. Everything was good pricing. The controller is a cheap POS, but it works so it guess it's not that bad. I have had this solar since Thanksgiving and have been messing with it, and looking at numbers, and volts, and amp hours, and dealing with the inverter. All the wire is EXPENSIVE!!. I have 4/0 power for inverter, and had to run 20+ feet of 6 gauge 4 wire to the inverter. The system works very well now, and on a full weekend I run the generator for only Microwave use, or some A/C. I always try to keep the Inverter off, and the load minimal though also. I have 3 Volt readouts in my trailer now, Inverter Solar, and one I added by the stereo before I had the others. They all say different, but the crap the provide with the trailer is terrible and not really functional. I got info.. .and opinions and my experience if you want to talk about the stuff hit me up. I like talking about it. We can most likely do install/ wiring at our shop also.
-
I can help with that. I did 400 watt (100x4) with a sh*tty controller, and a Xantrex 3012 inverter. what trailer do you have? I see 2007 warrior... I have a 2007 SLC3705. TO be honest, i'm not sure if would do all the inverter and solar again. I think I would just do a 3k small gen with a remote. I do have my solar working right now, just need the right controller to complete it.

Dune in June trip report, 2015
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to dunefreak's topic in Dumont Happenings
It never got below 90* for sure that night. With the temps now it would just be way too hot. At Coral pink it was in the 90's. It was very warm during the day.... Need cooler temps for sure. -
i'll park over in that area where I can get Cell Signal. So people know what I will be in here is a photo...
-
I went ahead and got my Toyhauler, so I will be out there tonight. I will be solo if anyone else wants to head out early I will be there. I'm going to leave Vegas about 8pm... hoping my truck doesn't get too pissed off with the heat then.
-
I'm all ready to go. Can't wait to hit the sand. I'm thinking about taking the Hauler out Saturday night and kicking back with some relax time. Have to get it ready for Coral pink next weekend anyway.

My 3705 has 17' of storage. It's enough for my XP1000 and should fit both my quads but I haven't had to take everything yet. It would be a tight squeeze with the RZR and Raptor being long travel. I looked at a Raptor Trailer and really liked it, but the wife didn't like the layout. If you can find a Next Level that would be good. I put Solar, 400 watts, and a nice Xantrex inverter in my trailer also after I bought it. The package works pretty well. I rarely run my generator at all. -
Yes, with paddles I will be 79-80" wide.

summer runs are usually fast passed, and they can be dangerous. We rode the dunes in April I think and they were pretty different and weird already. I got the trailer thing dealt with. I'll be using our vending trailer or a buddies trailer that he got from Trailers plus on Nellis. I was just there today, but I can't decide what trailer I want to buy. For now i'll just have to settle for borrowing. Thank you for the offer @@DuNe~Rydher

if you look at the WW make sure to check the frame. I had to spend 3k a week after I bought mine to reinforce the frame.
