  1. I towed my trailer pretty well up potisi I was able to do 40mph, 2nd gear, 3500 rpm. This was loaded, water on board, fuel, tons of gear everything. I even weighed before I left and the trailer was right at my limit, about 9300lbs. Leaving Dumont I was able to pull up the hill pretty easy also. with less gear, drained water.
  2. GTP Off Road is a DDR sponsor and carries many types of Tires and wheels and much, more. DOONZ are a great tire and I see lots of them out in the dunes.
  3. i'd love some good photos. Jump area would be cool, the jump at banshee wasn't too good for ATVs a few weeks ago, but hopefully it is now. That is a great wheelie area though. My bike is LED lit up also.
  4. the bathrooms are open anyway, at least they were 2 weeks ago, when we were told they can't lock them since the locks don't work.... so sh*t in the bathroom, done.
  5. the machines we on when we went by. We were told that all laws and rules were still enforceable by the BLM agent we talked to in the dunes. Dumont is his area. Helmets, drinking, all that. I do believe he said that passes were still required, along with OHV registration. We did see BLM there Friday, and Sunday driving around checking bathrooms. On Friday he was going camp to camp.
  6. "the land is public land and not closed, but the recreation part is closed" what this mean is... the bathrooms will not be serviced, the road is rough, there are no emergency services from BLM onsite. the BLM agent is on Furlow, but working anyway to get the word out. You do still need a pass, and all Laws in regards to drinking, and helmets all still apply. I asked about vending and was told, he was told to NOT check vendor permits. This can change, and the Department of the Interior website states vending on Public land is suspended during the shut down. So... for Halloween it all depends on who is out at Dumont for crowd control/ support. I was told that either BLM will be there, if the shut down is over, or the sheriff or other law enforcement will have to be out there. IMO, this may mean limited emergency assistance, and some crowd control but there will not be just left unsupervised for the holiday.
  7. just tried to contact senators... you can't do to government shut down.
  8. Mike is selling his Raptor if you are interested in a clean good running 700r SE.
  9. i guess they won't have any money to keep people out, if they have no money. People from both sides tend to abuse the system, and they should be the ones that don't get paid that's for sure. We paid our money to be at Dumont... so we will be there.
  10. I just let Jodi take most of the photos now, and all the cool ones I have are hers.
  11. We can get the bigger lights in Cree. The Cree have more output, but the bigger the light the more they cost. with the budget minded buyers on the internet these days we don't have the larger cree bars in stock. I say this because I know people compare the lumens to Rigid and others. but the lower cost is worth it for these lights.
  12. On the 450 you would most likely need to raise the bars up to make them comfortable. the 450 is lighter, and the 450r would come with wider a-Arms already saving some money and making the bike handle better then a normal 450 or a 700. I like the 700 I have for sure. I love the torque, and you can get more power out of the 700 easier. The 700 tends to be top heavy and tippy in the corners, so it requires some skill to lean, and kick the bike around. One of the questions would be is your/their style of riding faster, more carving the dunes, or more cruising. The 450 is going to shine a little more in whoops, and at speed (It's a race bike after all) and the 700 (stock) is more of a cruiser, but has the power and speed to keep up. You just have to pay good attention to keep the 700 from tipping over in the turns at speed. I have quite a bit of money into my bike, with axle, A-Arms, Shocks, Exhaust, Tuner, Intake, Piston, and cam. but I LOVE this bike. This is my first true duner bike, and I pretty much learned how to ride Dumont on it. I prefer the Raptor for the torque, and potential of the bike.
  13. Maybe we should do a dinner Saturday night with all the DDR people that will be down there. I know there will be a few people I don't know, or barely know that I'd like to meet.
  14. Isn't that OHV fund the one that the California government always robs money from to pay for stupid other crap, and never pays it back.
  15. never looked at the Nevada license part. I guess I see that. The DMV was so confused by all this stuff for a while, but I think a year later, and 20,000 tags they at least have it worked out a little better. and HELL YEAH. i'm ready for a trip to Amargosa. I may even toy my new toy out there just to see how it goes... but probly not since it's sh*tty gas mileage going out there anyway. I do have to work on Saturday night, so I'd rather go sunday. If it's cool enough at Dumont that weekend, we may just have to do a Dumont trip and if I have to I will have another DJ do my gig. I WANNA RIDE!!
  16. Nevada doesn't have a non-resident sticker that I have seen. I'm not sure how they expect to work it with military. Since you ride amargosa, and nellis sometimes I guess there is some risk there of them messing with you. At Dumont they aren't going to care as long as you have a sticker. What state is your Driver's License? The Nevada sticker is $20, the cali one is $30 (I think)
  17. I am sure we can get a selection of filters if someone were to need filters for their vehicles.
  18. we will be there Saturday, and maybe Sunday as well if we need to.
