  1. The brown is good, just make sure you are ONLY judging the edge with the threads. DO NOT use the porcelin to judge tune. just making sure on those.
  2. Yeah, i like the CP Pistons. I was looking at 11:1 since i ride when it gets warm sometimes and wasn't sure if that would give me issues. I would do 11.5:1 though, as long as i'm good on the 91 Pump gas. Right now, i am winning for Raptor of the month on Raptor Forum, and they are giving away a Webcam 5050 if i win. i think i need head work and valve springs for that though. Might just sell it, and pay on my other parts I still owe on. or buy a piston, or something else off my list of stuff i still want...
  3. I ran 87 in the Raptor for the first part of it's life and only started running 91 this summer after i got the Dyno tune, and changed the Timing with the programmer. The manual stated 87, but the intake lid said 91. My Outlaw 525 says it requires 91. Just dropping to 87 would save a little gas money, and I can use gas pump discounts when i fill the truck to fill the cans. the raptor is still on stock compression, and I never noticed an issue before.
  4. yes, I got the HC Stage 2. I got it used off of Raptor Forum for half of new. I was planning on waiting to do a piston at the same time, when a rebuild was needed. I am on hte stock piston right now. I have my eye on a CP 11:1 later. I want to make sure i can stay on 91 pump gas, I have no desire to run race gas, and no need. Since i got the cam at a good price it was sitting in the garage, so I decided to try it. I ride in a wide range of RPMs and i think (since i have no idea without a tach what RPM i'm at) i ride a lot in the lower RPMs. I think i noticed the drop in power/ torque down low, making me not like the cam that much. I got more used to it later in the runs, and it seemed better. I certainly don't "feel" any gain in power with the cam, but i am sure any gain, is above 6k and fairly minimal. I didn't want the HC3 as word is it's mostly top end, and loses more bottom end. Since i don't race, I don't really want major, just, top end power. I am not looking for drag power, just good duner fun.

  6. last time i talked to TJ from Pure Evil (which was a couple months ago) he said he moved back to Utah, but his Dad was running the shop again. I tried to call TJ on his cell when Doug started with thread but got no answer. I should try again i guess. I want to get another run to test with the Cam. (I think the cam sucks really) Glad to hear there are other selections. Sam's is right down the street so I wouldn't mind checking with them. I have the autotune now, but would like to check and make sure it's working right, and again, see the power. It was 100* when I ran at Pure Evil before so the power is going to be different anyway.
  7. dear god... do NOT leave your bike with them. take it there, get the runs, and leave. If they do anything make sure you know what they are doing. Once you know what the A/F ratio is, hopefully you can just dial it in later yourself.
  8. sam's is real close to me, i didn't know they had a dyno at all. that is cool. I may have to check with them to for a run to get numbers. With Pure evil gone, i have no chance of using the same dyno anyway.
  9. i know running race gas if it's not needed can certainly make your wallet have less power... lol not sure about your actual question though. If i didn't need it, i wouldn't run race gas though. I would like some clear gas (93 Octane and no ethenal) here in Vegas though.
  10. $250 is too much from ATV cycle, and to tune a carburated bike. It's just 2 jets, I guess there is more time involved in changing the jets each time.
  11. i was just talking to Doug over the weekend but didn't get the name of the shop doing the work. I know he shipped the stuff out, so it's not local Vegas.
  12. It really seems like a lot happened this weekend. From weather, to riding, to people coming into camp and going home, to riding, to a broken XP and a part search, to more riding, to installing a light bar, and then some more riding. Mike, Jodi, and I arrived Thursday night. We unloaded and setup camp. no riding, just some campfire time. Friday was riding time. We got in some good runs. Some where in there Keith and Brook joined our camp with their XP. We had 2 others join the camp with a RZR 4 and they came out on a couple runs with us. Jodi and I were on quads, with Mike and Keith in the RZRs. Mike and Keith were jumping and Keith was FLYING! yes i got some video coming. Keith managed to damage the rear CV joint and was down. Back at camp, yep, needs a new one. Call around and finally found the part at Ridenow on Boulder. Sweet, Doug (flvtfan) was coming out later. Keith calls to pay, and says Doug will pick it up. Ridenow says NO!!! WTF. Ok, what now. I decided to make a call to a manager i know at a different ridenow and see if that helps. Reluctantly, he pulls some strings and we are able to get the part. Doug was AWESOME to go out of his way to run over and pick the part up. We had some of our LED lights with us, so we made up a kit with a 30" light bar and did a nice custom install right in camp on the RZR 4 while we figuring out the parts issues for Keith. Friday night it rained, so not much campfire time, just a movie with Mike and Jodi in the hauler. Doug and Travis made it to their camp Friday night later. So, Saturday morning i was entrusted to take Mike's RZR over to their camp and get the Half shaft for Keith. Keep in mind i don't drive SxSs, and haven't even really riden in one before. That thing has some power, I didn't get off the flats, but man, it feels weird to drive that VS. being on a quad. Doug was out at their camp and gave me the part, and a case of beer. Keith was happy, and his daughter was VERY happy to be back in action. Since the XP was already apart the install was very quick. Out for our first ride of the day. I lead a few runs, and apparently I was going fast... lol Doug came over for a run, but was riding one of Travis's Banshee's since his bike is down for more power mods. Doug ended up dropping out and heading back, as he didn't like the banshee feel. At Doug's camp we met Jason, and he came on a ride with us, leading pretty fast to North Pole. I led back from North pole, and got video of Keith's roof when he lifted off going over a roller by Superbowl. We put in some good time in the dunes, good runs, and even a few jump spots. There were some good photos taken but Jodi, Mike, and Brook have most of them. Mike's friend Jason got out there late Saturday, and we talked around the campfire. This was Mike and Jodi's anniversary weekend so they needed some "private time." I locked up the quads, unhooked the trailer, and headed over to Doug's camp where he had a spot for me to sleep. Sunday was back over to Mike's camp, unlock the bikes and try to start my Outlaw that usually sits on the trailer. Jodi's bike smoking pretty bad and not wanting to start. The Outlaw needed some ride time, so it was good to have it there. Out on a ride with Mike, Jodi, Keith, Brook, Jason, and Jason's friend (sorry bad with names) and me. More good run time, and i had to lead. I was going a little slower this time. Keith headed back from the South pole to load up and head out. We went back to camp shortly after to get camp broke down, and try for one more run. It's always that one more run that gets, someone. Coming up over a razor, Jason lost the back end, and it caught at the top, tipping in on it's side at the top of the hill, half way over. Jason was fine, and we tipped it back up. It was halfway on the hill and we had to keep weight on the front to make sure it stayed. XP was good, but had a crack in the intake so time to just head back to camp. he was behind me, and my gopro battery was dead. So i didn't really get any video. At least no injuries. Back at camp we all loaded up and got ready to head out. It was a great weekend. We had rain, wind, and it was a little cold at times,giving us a little of everything. We left some nice tracks for others to follow, and maybe the dunes will get cleaned up a little. They were starting to already throughout the weekend.
  13. They ran the Wildcat down the hill pushing it on the 3 flat tires, instead of fixing the tires or getting a truck up there. Could easily have ruined the 3 flat tires, for no real reason. I did ask him about a tire going down, he said they were just checked before the trip, but that doesn't mean one wasn't going flat. I just think he turned into the hill after reaching the top and made the SxS unstable, and making it slide. Based on the way it rolled, i think the tires were popped in the rollover, still a chance one of the rears was going flat. The right rear going flat would have made it tip much easier in this case. I give up on the 4x4. I would erase it if i could, but it's too late, i'm not removing the video or editting now.
  14. fair enough, i guess the state of California general fund could always pay back the money they STOLE from the OHV fund (twice). that should cover the road paving and a few other things for several areas. just a thought. Trust me not holding my breathe for any of that to happen.
  15. I really doubt the brake caliper and the chain make much of a difference, why did they put that on there?
  16. I am going to plan on going, and figuring out a carpool scenario as people that are really going lock in. After our trip in today, i would say the road is a concern. to me it was in pretty bad shape. I have seen it worse, but with the fees we pay the road should be smooth. I would still put in a vote for it to be paved.

(seriously just messing with you) I was reffering to Carter charging $10 per bike as a rip off since Ride now does the same thing for free to anyone that asks. Not sure if the Yamaha store down there charges or not. $10 is no much of a big deal if Carter is close to you with towing and all. But for 5 or 10 OHVs that ads up. Personally I think Carter, who I do like as a store just fine, is just being greedy. (but I am also cheap) As i said earlier in regards to Pete though, if people think the $10 is fair and it works out better for them then it makes sense. At least people might know the difference in going to different places now that we have beat the dead horse... lol Now just go out and .
  18. LOL, i guess that is true. I am cheap... I'd rather buy gas, or shocks... I'll go with the Time=Money, and the To-Each-His-Own statements on this one.
  19. This guy was coming back down the hill. Instead of coming down more like a "U", I/ We think he came down more like "C", after getting to the top, turning back into the hill causeing the slide, and roll over. He is a quad rider, so i am pretty sure it was just the lack of exeprience, and a bad decision that led to this rollover, but you never know, sh*t happens out there as well. Since i don't really drive a SxS, i am not able to argue about using 4x4 or not. I was merely stating something based on what i had seen, and been told by others I know who do drive a SxS.
  20. lol, It's a rip off when the other deal does it for free, for anyone. The OHV site says the dealer MAY charge up to $2 to submit the paperwork. It doesn't say whether they can charge for inspections or not. Bottom line i guess if someone is happy with paying $10, instead of free then it really doesn't matter.
  21. ridenow did mine for free, and I beleive the VIN inspections are supposed to be free. The dealer can charge $2 to file, but pretty sure they are NOT supposed to charge to do a VIN inspection. How to Register Your OHV A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) inspection will have to be completed by a licensed Nevada OHV dealer or a sworn law enforcement officer if your vehicle has never been registered or titled in Nevada. See OHV Business License Verification for a list of licensed dealers. The dealer who completes the inspection may submit the application and other documents on your behalf or you may mail them yourself. Dealers may charge up to $2 for each registration and/or title application submitted. Decals are issued by mail only. The Nevada Certificate of Title, if issued, is processed separately from the registration decal. The DMV may contact you for additional information or proof of ownership. The title will be mailed to the lender or other lienholder, if any, or to the owner if there is no lienholder. The above is from the ohvnv.com site. I was lucky enough to have the Ridenow Bill of sale to get my title, and i had some issues with the sticker, but i did mine really early. The tag on my raptor is #000168.

  23. I have to agree that many duner's are our own worst enemy... Like complaining about getting a ticket for not having a sticker. everyone knows you are supposed to have a sticker, so guess who's fault it is?? I did manage to read Terry's Original post, and did manage to follow instructions. I hope others did as well.
