  1. looking for my Christmas present to myself... I have it narrowed down to the Elka Stage 4 shocks and Houser A-Arms. My question is the Long Travel A-Arms are $925, and the Standard travel is $675. I am getting a decent deal straight from Elka, but is the Long Travel worth $250 more on the a-Arms??
  2. well if you want to take the quads, what are they by the way, and have the hitch system that does add weight, but at least back there it's not hitch weight. It does sound like your close... I will leave that part of it to the guys that tow more. I just have my F150 and my little Echo trailer with the 2 quads. Trailer with bikes and gas is under 1500 lbs. Most i have towed is 3 quads (one in bed) and 3 guys and all our stuff in Oregon. it's crazy how easy it is to max out the 1/2 ton trucks.
  3. i would think that there is 2 battery set-ups in there. so the jack probly works off the coach batteries, while the gen works off its battery. so if the gen battery is bad the jack could still work. the gen has to have it's own seperate battery or when the coach batteries died over night, the gen wouldn't start. Like i said though, my experience is with expensive motorhomes, and i'm not sure how your hauler is set-up.
  4. being a 5th wheel, i don't think it will add enough wieght to make much difference. Especially if you are loaded inside with other toys, water, gas, and poo... lol
  5. what i am thinking is almost a hitch or pair of hitches that face up along the door. This could hold a pole, other platform to strap to unstead of the door. It could be held in place with hitch pins. It may not need to be that large, but it's the best "Visual" i could type.
  6. Ummm... thanks Jodi for the vote of confidence... I guess?? Michelle siad she will come out if we have a hauler. She wantes her own space, since she doesn't know anyone, and we want to bring our dog. I might be able to do something like that Mark. Yours looked like pretty much what i would be looking at. How about renting it so i can check it out and see if my truck can pull it? Maybe a rent to own program. I am out for Thanksgiving now, but maybe i can go the weekend after??
  7. each class iii hitch has a tongue rating of 500 pounds so how much do the quads weight?? I know my Raptor is 400-450 wet. i would think that 2 or 3 hitchs setup supporting the back wheels would be fine weight wise. I would just bolt through the door with supports to make sure the tie downs don't pull through the door. even better you could make the hitch system come up so the bikes are all supported by the hitchs and you don't have to tie to the door at all. Then just make the upright part removeable so the whole system doesn't weight so much if you need to remove it.
  8. i figured i would start here, more trustworthy people here, and I might be able to help DDR peeps with some extra cash. There is one for rent on Craigslist now, but it's really old, and looks pretty big for my F150. There are a couple for sale, but i can't get myself to pull the trigger right now. have to make myself wait to maybe next season to buy one.
  9. i am going to try and rent a toyhauler and make it out for part of the time... Once it gets all tore up it's no fun for me, but if i have a toyhauler, i think i can get the wife to come out. If not this time soon.
  10. I am hoping to find a 1/2 ton towable (under 8,000lbs loaded, prefered) toyhauler. I would love to rent it for Thanksgiving, at least thursday - Saturday i think. I would be interested in renting it for other weekends as well. I do have a dog that i would like to take, but I am very responsible and would take great care of your hauler. I am only hauling 2 quads.
  11. The jack is probly grounded itself by being screwed down. The generator is probly on rubber motor mounts so no real (or Good) ground connection.
  12. are you sure the Generator battery is the same battery. I know if might be a dumb question, but i am used to Motorohomes, which can have a seperate gen battery from the other coach batteries.
  13. if there is a grounding issue though, the charging system won't be able to work right. it should run without a battery, but the other cables and stuff still need to be good. If the cables are good then it must be something in the charging system. It's a weird combo to me that it won't start, and won't stay running since that seems like it would be different componenet issues.
  14. It felt so good to get back out and tear up some sand. since my last trip was, a little hot, this was pretty much perfect weather. I got out there Saturday morning, thanks to work delaying my trip. I hate getting up early. Everything loaded no worries, 2 hours later, I arrived at 9am almost on the dot. I told Mike i would be there at 9am for a morning ride. The sand was very nice, some good lines, very fun. Met several new people once we were back in camp, it was a big group to me. we went on rides with different people each time, and i have already lost track. I know Dan came with us on the first ride as well. Mike had to do some surgery on his youngest sons bike so Jodi and I went to Vendors to FINALLY get my new flag, I am now "Sworn To Speed" since there wasn't anything Yamaha for me to get. New flag on, the 90 was fixed up, had lunch then time for a Justin ride out to the North Pole. Fun little cruise, practice some wheelies, and explore a little on the way. Back at camp again and Jared (Mike's oldest) wanted to ride somemore so we headed out toward the back side of comp/ south pole-ish area. Cruised around, found one decent jump spot but not great. As we were cruising we saw a stuck XP and a blonde girl, so we figured we should help out. I did warn them that i was video taping and that they may, or may not be on Youtube later. (if i ever get to editing video again, I am very far behind) Cruised some more, popped over the top of comp, around and back to camp. Nice easy ride, good leader practice for me. Our last ride for Saturday was a pretty big group, with 3 sand cars, and somewhere around 5 or 6 quads. Lead car, (still trying to remember everyones name) i think it was Brice?? broke the left tie rod off from the steering box just after the flats toward superbowl. Patched that up and he headed back for repairs. The rest of us contiued as sun was getting pretty low. Paul led us up to superbowl, then he had to stop at the top for a look so we all stattered, leaving the other sandcar having to loop back. we finally got back going, and I wasn't really paying attention enough and went between the 2 sand cars. yeah, sorry abou that, I just blame it on being new still and just not knowing/ paying attention. I know now though. Overall we had a good little cruise to North Pole. The trip back was fun with it getting pretty dark and a few riders having tinted goggles. I tried to go the last half with out goggles, and that didn't really help much. Back to camp for the fire, dinner and the fun. Met some more of the people, and BSed a little. I even had time to jump on the kids' trampoline. lol Sunday, i unloaded my Outlaw for Mike's son Jared as his bikes was leaking oil and not running right. That was bike 2 with issues for mike, along with this Raptor making noises so 3. Jared and I went on a quick ride similar to saturday's to get him used to the bike. He seemed to like it, and it has more power then his regular bike. who doesn't like more power?? It gets a little fuzzy as to who was on the full morning ride, Mike in the rzr, Jared, Jodi, Dan on his bike, and 2 of Dan's friends on bikes. One of the Bike guys crashed over by Talledega, but nothing too bad. No video of that. Cruised more (it was a long Morning ride). Did some jumping over by Banshee hill, then we headed off to look for other jumps by Comp. The bike guys headed off and i led while jump searching. i found one spot, but Mike pointed out another one. It turned out to be probly the best jump spot i've hit. we spent some time there, and got a few photos and some video. that was a great shot right there, Nice Mike!! For our last ride Joe Duner came over, and we had another pretty big group. Joe's XP, 3 cars, Mike's Rzr, and probly 6 quads and 3 bikes. we all headed out, and man was that a good ride. I hadn't riden with Joe before, but that was a great mix and so fun. stopped for a bit and BSed, headed back out and lost a quad rider, issue with a wheel i think it was. back at it again, and even had a cool jump in there, i love hitting a good jump in the middle of a run. My last video was 21 minutes, and that was pretty much all duning. Everyone in Mikes family seemed to be having bike Issues, and Jodi's bike was the last. it was a bad one to with the tranny not sounding so good. Back to camp, and loading everything up for the trip home. It was a great first trip for me. Great runs, Great Jump, some great new people, pretty much perfect weather. Hopefully i will get some video up.
  15. sounds like a connection issue to me, i'd start with all battery cables. especially the grounds.
  16. Hey John, i was in that group. I'm still trying to remember who all was in the group but it was Paul. the beam car lost steering. Heims joint broke. The car wasn't stuck just stalled i think. Not 100% actually.
  17. I am not going to make it till Saturday morning now due to work, but i do like money. I guess that works out since i didn't have anyone to ride with Friday anyway.
  18. You beat me to it Paul. I was just going to do the same thing... Urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to Extend the Comment Period on Proposed Rule that Will Limit OHV Access In early October the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) issued a proposed rule to list the Coral Pink Sand Dunes Tiger beetle as a threatened species and to designate most of the Coral Pink Sand Dunes geologic formation as critical habitat for the subspecies. If this rule is finalized as proposed it would almost certainly ensure that OHV access in the Coral Pink Sand Dunes area will be forever lost. Comments on the proposed rule are currently due on December 3, 2012. Given the highly complex nature of the proposal, this simply does not provide enough time for the OHV community to develop comprehensive comments. It is also important to note that the USFWS will only consider comments that are made “solely on the basis of the best scientific and commercial data available.” This means that comments that only indicate support for or opposition to the designation will not be considered by FWS in making a determination on the proposal. ARRA and our partners are working on developing talking points to share with you before the ultimate comment deadline, but more time is necessary to adequately review the proposal as well as the many sources cited within. As a result, it is important that you click hereto go to regulations.gov and formally request at least a 90 day extension of the comment period. Three of Utah’s Members of Congress have weighed in already. On November 2nd, Senator Mike Lee and Representatives Rob Bishop and Jason Chaffetz wrote USFWS Director Daniel Ashe urging him to extend the comment period by 90 days. Please click hereto join them in calling for an extension. Once at the page please fill in your information and request at least a 90 day extension of the comment period. Below is a sample request that can be cut and pasted into the comment box on regulations.gov. As an off-highway vehicle (OHV) enthusiast, I request an extension of at least 90 days to the comment period on the Proposed Rule on Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Proposed Threatened Status for Coral Pink Sand Dunes Tiger Beetle and Designation of Critical Habitat. It will be impossible to review and develop comprehensive comments on this complex rule and related materials by December 3rd. The 60 days currently allotted is particularly insufficient as only comments that are made “solely on the basis of the best scientific and commercial data available” will be considered by the Fish and Wildlife Service in making a determination. This rule would have a significant impact on motorized recreation so it is imperative that other OHV enthusiasts and I have adequate time to fully understand and comment on the proposal. Thank you for your consideration.
  19. i stay in the 720 at 30 frames per second on my original HD. If i had the Hero 2 or 3 i would do the 1080p at 30 fps. it's harder to get the player to play the 60 fps stuff and i haven't found it needed when editing video.
  20. Sounds like fun. Hopefully you didn't leave too many tracks out there for us this weekend. Can't wait to head out and ride with your crew again Pete, one day i will be part of the crew to..
  21. i need someone to ride with on Friday... Mike isn't planning on going till friday night and I am just going to plan on heading out general morning time (DJ morning time). I can never keep track of the who, (is going), where, (they are camping), and when, (they are getting there) with the posts.
  22. seems like we will have a big DDR crowd.. hopefully i can find some you, and meet up since i still haven't met most of the people on here. should be a BLAST!! I'm freeking excited.
  23. pretty sure i am in. I got DJs scheduled to cover gigs, and the Raptor is all ready to go. Wife, even said it's ok.
