  1. some good info there... it's always interesting getting both sides of sorts. I just know i would be pissed waiting in line... that's why i have the pass as well, so I can just drive in. To me doing some patrols and watching for the people that look like idiots might be better served.
  2. i'm pretty sure they do DUII check points... no cause their either. but they do catch some drunks... It would be a good thing for the current goverment to listen to what people like Ben Franklin thought, since they did write the constitution and all. what they thought, IS what the consitution is supposed to mean. I have to go back to, the bad apples spoil the barrel. if people didn't go out there is illegal drugs, they wouldn't need to search. it's a vicious circle.
  3. the XP looks really good there Steve... i sure am ready for my trip to Dumont now.
  4. i am hoping to make a weekend of it for Veterans day just depends on who all goes. Hoping for some day trip(s) soon, and a few before the end of the year also.
  5. I see your point, but if my stuff was stolen, i would be happy to see them making some kind of effort. with the hundreds to thousands of people out there, seems like a good place to look for stolen stuff... and drugs. 15 might be a little excessive, but i also don't like waiting in line. lol
  6. They were checkin vins on bikes and stuff?? wow, well. i am all legal so they can check all they want. if it helps detour the bad apples then i guess... drug sniff all you want to, i dont do that sh*t either. the theives and druggies sound like good people to keep out of the dunes.
  7. you would get better photos by putting it on the burst setting and just taking photos.
  8. that looks about how it was when Mike and I went for a day trip last month... the whole right side was/ is pretty ugly so definitely be careful. When we were riding there was even a ridge across Comp about 3/4 of the way up. only about 6 inchs, but it was weird.
  9. i tried the narrow view, and it didn't make much difference on my HD, maybe it makes more difference on the 2. It looked like Villipoto was wearing a 3 on his helmet at Monster energy tonight. It didn't look like it had a case at all?? not sure. I now the sound my buddy had on his 2 was bad compared to mine when we were in Oregon. not sure what's up with that. I need the audio, and video distortion to go away when i mount the camera on the bike, like the heal guard. I love those views.
  10. i am in for a drive if possible. Closing Coral would suck.. and for a beetle to ruin the State park, and 50,000 visitors is insane. the state said the beetle doesn't even live in the riding area. hopefully they can keep it open, and not make it any smaller,
  11. i think i am going to try and go early haloween. I need to work the Friday night Gig i have scheduled even though i don't want to, but it's money. Hoping to do a Thursday-Friday style trip or earlier arrival depending on whos out there for support.
  12. the 3 has a few features i am interested in seeing for sure. mainly the flat lense. I kinda think the 3 is geared more toward water sports users, as they sell the flat lense cases and mods for underwater. Worst thing about the Go-pro is that everything looks so far away, would be nice to correct that. Plus the wi-fi would be very nice, but i could buy a 2 and pac to get that.
  13. $400 comes with Flat lens for underwater, and Wi-fi. Better Camera, audio as well. Might be worth it. If your not using your hero 2 Pete, i am sure i could make use of it,
  14. Yes, i am in Hawaii, and on my honeymoon.. and of course i am posting on DDR. . love this place and the people. And, yes i have to pay for this whole wedding/ honeymoon thing now as well. It's cool though, i got my quad, and good friends to help me through the season.
  15. i am stil in Hawaii... till Thursday. then I have work Friday night and Saturday night..
  16. maybe i can bring some Duvets for the motorhome. next trip to Dumont start of November as a married man.
  17. the feet flat on the floor part is gone, and i thought they postponed the helmet law taking affect until later as well. but the feet on the floor is gone for sure . "AB 1266 removes the language requiring passengers to be able to sit "with both feet flat on the floorboard" while restrained. This will ensure that children can continue to ride, allowing families to continue enjoying off-roading together. This bill also delays the implementation of the provision prohibiting the use of post-manufactured seats until July 1, 2013. This will give legislators time to work on a solution that would allow operators who have safely modified their vehicles to continue riding. Now that AB 1266 has been signed into law, my office will work on securing an author for a bill to resolve your remaining concerns. I will update you in the coming weeks on the progress of draft legislation as well as information about which legislators will be carrying the legislation next year."
  18. the dunes were very weird, so a wind change might help to push it all back. several areas were very different. Comp, the entrance to comp, the East side of Banshee, and the dunes... lol. Just be carefull on the right side of the comp face. it makes that old witches eye, look like a pimple.
  19. I'm just saying... No amenities, so where are the Nevada OHV fees going? No Patrols... if you do ride there, who is going to say "where is your registration." I don't need amenities or patrols. I will agree with open riding areas for sure, just saying if I could drive to Dumont, or say outside of Tonopah, I am going to pick Dumont for the drive and time involved.
  20. how are the Tonopah dunes? that's pretty far away, not sure if it's worth it. I like Coral pink during the summer for the most part. The sand in the parking area makes a huge freaking mess. During Dumont season i can't imagine driving farther for anything not as good. @ Mike... no i haven't been to Amargosa, but from what i have heard it's no Dumont, and no ammenities, and haven't heard of patrols.
  21. When i went to Utah in May i had an Oregon tag, it was checked while in camp, but they didn't ask any questions. It is true, you are required by the OHV laws to have a registration from your state, OR the state you are visiting. That depends on being caught, and like Terry said, he doesn't ride in Nevada, like many others. And what OHV areas does Nevada even patrol? Amargosa? I am still hoping Nevada will use the new money for improving OHV areas, but i dont have high hopes. It would be nice though if NV at least isn't as bad as CA. To me Nevada doesn't really have much at all for riding areas anyway. Amargosa is small and not that good, Nellis Dunes Sucks, mayb the areas by Reno are better, but that's not worth the drive for sure.
