  1. Ridenow sells and service the Can am. The inside of the old can am was really nice compared to even an XP... but in reviews and research the XP was the better SXS overall. Looks are cool, but if you are going to actually use it, performance is what counts. Interesting to see how this really stacks up to the XP.
  2. Mike and i went for an early morning ride on 9.14. Met mike just before 5 AM at his house. (holly crap that's early for a DJ!!) Loaded mikes bike on my trailer, hooked my trailer to mikes truck, and took off. 2 hours later, the beautiful Dumont dunes. The road in was ripped UP BAD... even broke a screw lose on mike overhead console. No water in the river. WHAT!!! really someone was there with a toy hauler when we got there. unloaded and out for first tracks about 7:30am. the access part to comp is almost closed off with dunes... first hill, west end of banshee.... trash everywhere... WTF!!. We headed over to a spot East of Banhsee hill we jumped last year and it was TOTALLY different. The dunes were pushed around a lot over the summer and there were lots of steep hills, soft and hard sand, witch eyes and more. Mike was having a hard time seeing so I led the last part. We ended up over by comp and I barely noticed it looked so different. The first place we stopped out in the dunes was pretty hard packed, with the tires riding right on the top, and walking on it was like walking on asphault almost. There was one area, heading up a hill pulling a wheelie, and the sand just gave out under the tires and i spun out. it was very weird, Since I did the mods to the Raptor a few good runs up comp were called for. Toward the top there were a few ridges, and even a little drop off, before the top. The right side area had all kinds of drops, and dips and crazy ness. Interesting to see how many guys have issues there. It would NOT be good for a car or RZR over there. You can see from the parking lot that the Entire comp hill tip edge was pushed back west-ish back over the top. First trips out for October should be interesting, make sure to be carefull out there as it's so different, steep, and all that good stuff.
  3. makes sense to me... Don't know until you ask. @ Pete, no I have only riden in Terry's car, ever. I am sure that Honda power is great, had a Converstaion with Mike about Sand Cars on the way to Dumont and learned quit a bit about the engines and the power.
  4. Terry... I realize this is a really dumb question, but can you turn the boost down or something and get your car on the 100?? It's not like you don't have enough power in there. and if you could live with Honda power, maybe a compromise?? I was running 87 in the Raptor before, but now with the tune I am just running 91. The Outlaw stated 91 all along, and when I filled the Truck up i would just fill the gas can(s) at the same time and I could save 20 cents a gallon. That adds up over a season, and the truck takes 36 gallons to fill, not running premium in that. I am pretty glad I dont have to buy diesel, since it's more than premium.
  5. all set to leave about 5am tomorrow morning, first dune trip of the season i guess... ??
  6. i prefer a C Cup... Dumont is pretty heavy course sand so as long as you got the powaaaa should be good.
  7. I'm right behind you on duning Terry... you can keep your music though.
  8. what the hell does that say?? i guess i don't speak your language.
  9. its looking like it's going to be too hot... I think i will be tagging along with Mike on their trip to Coral pink, Thursday-Saturday.
  10. there is more on this on the AB1595 thread I think. If I remember right, the new bill removing the "feet on the Floor" and one other rule was written and set to be passed a couple weeks ago. I haven't heard anything back about if it was passed or not. I know the Helmet part was set to be moved to July1st, 2013, instead of being implimented on Jan, 1 2013 allowing them time to rewrite this part as well. This is a great case of the people in office having no idea about the offroad community. They got a quick lesson and over 100 calls in one week, which they said was very high. Hopefully... hopfully... in the future they will use some lessons learned about contacting and communicating with offroaders. opptomistic i know, but i have to have some hope. http://www.dumontduneriders.com/invision/index.php?showtopic=17685
  11. well yeah, the hope is it's won't be too hot. Mike is planned Coral or Amargosa for that weekend so depending on how this go... i am going somewhere. I want to get in a good ride before my wedding and the ball and chain slow me down too much... lol I come back from the wedding on Thursday, October 20th. So i would even be down that weekend, depending on work. Staying away from holidays still. I only got a non-holiday pass.
  12. Nice Steve, looks like what i remember. I like going toward the back as it wasn't as ripped up. Those grass island areas are crazy and some tight even on a quad. Looking forward to my next Winchester trip.
  13. Sorry to hear about the death Terry, anyone i met??? Due to work i can't attend the meeting, but i do hope to go to one soon. I am getting my feet wet as an HOA board member for other things like these in the future possibly so I want to participate if/when i can.
  14. Fingers crossed for Dumont... have Tecopa saved on weather.com
  15. @ Jodi... i guess we will see what happens with temps and people for Dumont. I have Friday, Saturday gigs through Sept at the Silverton and I don't want to pay out for a DJ to cover both days. But I could do a Sat-Sun (if you ride enough on Sunday) trip to coral or gosa, I haven't riden Gosa yet. Hopefully Petey is in, and others will follow as above. and Maybe mikey can just change his mind and make it a big D trip.
  16. if you are interested, weather permitting, I would love to get a day trip (at least) in before I leave to get married. So, i am looking for before Oct. 5th. Sept 29th is also out for me. If we could do a sunday, that might be good, or a weekday, would be best for me. I realize not everyone has my kind of work schedule though. So let's get some ideas, and keep an eye on the weather. I am voting for Sunday, sept 23rd.
  17. damn i have gigs that whole weekend so I am out I am hoping to try for a day trip or something since my weekend schedule through Oct is busy and i'd hate to have to wait till Nov. Plus i will have to answer to the wife after Oct. 11th... man that is scary. lol Anyone down for day tripping if we can find decent temps?
  18. you want used, private party sale to save the taxes for After July 1st 2012. They ask for proof of tax now, except on the private sales. OHVs Purchased From a Out-of-State Dealer On or After July 1, 2012 The vehicle must be registered and titled within 30 days of the sale. You must have a VIN inspection completed by a licensed Nevada OHV dealer or a sworn law enforcement officer. You must also obtain a Use Tax Clearance Certificate (Form APP-08.01) from the Nevada Department of Taxation.
  19. here is a comparision from an Oregon sticker to the new Nevada sticker. On another note... #167. I wonder if that really means this is 167th registration given out. That's pretty low for all of Nevada. The Outlaw, which was processed later has a #368 or so.
  20. when did you buy the RZR? If if was before July 1st, 2012 you are good on the sales tax. If it was after July 1st, 2012 you will have to pay the sales tax for a title, and i beleive even to get the registration banner... ( I mean sticker, stupid f*cking HUGE sticker). there is different forms to fill out for prior to July 1st, or after July 1st, 2012. Anything sold private does not require sales tax. One thing is, if you don't really ride in Nevada, as in just ride mainly Dumont, just get a Cali sticker. Nevada has no real way to verify or even know if a bike is in Nevada unless you tell them. They are so disorganized on all of this it will take forever to figure it out. Maybe Amargosa has people checking for stickers but not sure. Not really many areas to ride Nevada around here, IMO. You also have until July 1st, 2013 to register for the first time. You are NOT required to get a title for any OHV bought before July 1st, 2012 in Nevada. I don't know how that affects out of Nevada Purchases. I am sure the out of state sales, and private party sales are going to be a mess at first. For anyone that doesn't have the right proof of purchase for an OHV bought they will have a real tough time getting a title, but getting the registration shouldn't be too bad.
  21. And the saga continues.... I got the stickers and Title today. The stickers are HUGE!!! I have no idea where i am going to put this damn thing!! I will have to look around. They are just smaller then the size of a motorcyle license plate. IT'S HUGE for a sport quad or motorcycle. The title looked great, too bad it was for the wrong bike. I paid for the title on the Raptor and got the Title for the Outlaw. Now i have to send the Outlaw title back so they can destroy it, and they will process the Raptor title.
  22. well to legally do a sound check there is a procedure they are supposed to follow. has to be a certain distance, and rpm level which is different for each bike. I am sure they were all over for Dunefest... I was watching some videos from this year's Dune fest though, and saw several people riding double and no helmets. There is no way I am putting the stock exhaust back on as this is my first good trip with my new mods, so if i get the ticket so be it.
  23. Hopefully, if i get pulled over, I can talk my way out of a ticket. I will have the paperwork for Nevada, and if i have to try and talk my way into just going and buying a sticker if they let me go. I have never been stopped, or talked to in Oregon before. Stupid thing I guess was I had the Oregon sticker, good till end of August, and took it off thinking i was getting the Nevada one. that's what i get for trusting government. I will also be hoping they don't bother me for my new Dual exhaust that has no chance of meeting 93db. I might be 96-98db. I guess i have a lot to hope for while i'm there.
