i still think they aren't going to enforce the floor part...i think it's geared towards the drunks fools that stand up, or put their feet on the windsheild area type stuff. Are they going to tell a Veteran who lost his leg to a IED that he can't ride in the sxs since he only has one foot to put on the floor... I would certainly hope not. Similar for the kids, if they are seated properly, with helmet and belts i don't think there will be an issue. The "feet on the floor" to me is a poor description of being "properly seated" in the sxs.
-
i would say a reasonable enforcer would not harrass a parent for driving around with their child. and may have something to do with trying to state "how" a person should be properly seated more then the fact that a child can't reach the floor. There is no mentions of children and if properly secured with a helmet i don't think they will be bothered.

wow, ok... so the kids part and not touching the floor AND handle is dumb. a small child properly fastened is perfecly safe is a sxs. Maybe get a wrist strap ( i can attest they work) to keep the childs hands inside the vehicle if needed. I can see the no added seats in the back of a rhino, thanks to the stupid people who rolled with a load of people outside the cage. I can see the helmets, especially after seeing the XP rollover accident in January and the guys head being cut. Your head can also easily hit the sand, roll bar, debris, and whatever during a rollover. The biggest problem here, as i am reading through the whole thing, they are saying ALL OHV vehicles will be subject to this law. toward the bottom it mentions Jeeps, sand rails, buggies, and more as "defined" OHVs. The top part seems to just add in the provision for the sxs. So basically any offroad vehicle with a steering wheel and seat. This leaves out the RZR 170 type vehicles that are designed for kids, and i would guess can go 30MPH+ stock. Polaris might need to jump into this part. @ Jodi... something tells me Mike's kids aren't going to be wearing those boots anytime soon...

It appears that "Greenies" will stop at nothing"
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to ynot's topic in General Chat
i have to say it doesn't surprise me at all. People will stop at nothing to get the results they want. The greenies, and religious extremists cause a lot of issues all over the world. This type of crap is what scares me about our riding areas, and all the ones we lost. -
Nevada OHV rules paperwork in..
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to Adam @ GTP Off Road's topic in General Chat
you have till July 1st, 2013 so if you have a good cali sticker i would wait. -
I sent my paperwork in today so we will see how it goes. I sent in 2 forms, one for each registration sticker. Simple enough overall but had to go to 3 places to get the Notary Public done. I tried BofA (my bank) and they said they don't do it anymore. tried a Fedex store and that store didn't do it. 3 place was a Chase bank (I have a Chase Credit Card). They did it no problem, and free. I like free. So reg stickers hopefully will at least be here before i go to Oregon, or i will have to by Oregon stickers again. The Registration stickers were $20 each. The Notary Public is required for all bikes bought previously to July 1st, 2012 to say that you actually did buy it before July 1st, 2012. I also sent in the paperwork to get a title for the Raptor as I own it. My other bike is still financed so don't need a title for it. I went to Ridenow and the Service guy came out, looked at the VIN on the bike, filled out the form. quick and easy. I copied the sales form i got when i bought the bike (from ridenow) and sent that in as proof of purchase for the bike. I called the DMV and they said that would be good. The title was $28.25. I am hoping that the money Nevada collects might mean some riding areas around here. I just don't know anywhere around Vegas that Nevada actually maintains??? Nellis i think is BLM, which Nellis sucks anyway, but that would be Federal. Not sure about Amargosa?? I still think if you don't ride in Nevada, and basically hit Dumont and have a Cali sticker they aren't going to care. Maybe if they looked at your driver's license for some reason they would know you were from Nevada (license plates on truck/ trailer) but why would Cali care? Just curious to see if Nevada is going to try and enforce sales taxes for the vehicles bought out of state trying to register. So far, i don't see it. If the vehicle is bought after July 1st, 2012 there is a different form to fill out that asks the sales price, and requires a form from the state showing that the tax was paid. Private Party sales has another form, and states no tax is due.

That is a nice hauler... looks to heavy for my 1/2 ton though Good luck with the sale.

i am guessing the Ram's front bumper is not stock, or the tire carrier in the rear. I'd go with the Raptor still, goes with my raptor, and i already have a Ford already. The 6.2 would be cool, especially with a supercharger. Would be interesting to see what Chevy does. I like the looks of the chevy more, but i got a better deal on the Ford. My 5.0 is rated better then the chevy 5.3 as well. Chevy has plenty of motors to chose from, so i am guessing something Camaro or corvette born. Raptor better daily driver and better in moderate terain, what most people are going to be using them for.

looks like a good riding area for my Outlaw... use some of that IRS i got. I need to get away from this heat, and would love to get in a good ride. That truck bed tent you stole from me looks pretty good to.

oregons rider safety education card

I think the Oregon and some other programs might help a few people. There are some people that just don't know and might learn something. Overall i have to agree that many people aren't going to pay any attention. This is most likely one of those enforce it if you ask to be messed with but not something they are really going to look for. They may if your in the parking lot and they are bored. i just hate how they force all the kids crap on people that don't have kids. The DMV does the same crap with baby seats and stuff... i have no idea what weight or hieght babay should be in what seat. I don't have kids. I almost failed the damn test cause of those damn questions. -
Finally got a Chesty today...
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to Adam @ GTP Off Road's topic in General Chat
Wow. you must be missing Mike... but i hope he doesn't wear a Black Lacy bra... lol -
yeah, i got your attention didn't I? The Chesty is the chest mount for the GoPro. Been wanting one for a while and did an impulse buy today while at best buy. Now I have for my Oregon trip in August. It's pretty nice. seems like good quality, fits nice and snug. Not any more annoying then a camel pack or other back pack. Hoping to get a chance to test it out before my August trip but it should show much more of the bike and movement then on the helmet. I like the helmet view, but always wanted a better mix of the bike and the overall ride view.

Flash Flood warning from Friday 5am - Saturday 12 Noon. 50% chance of Rain. 106 for Saturday... Think i will stay home in the A/C.
-
i am interested in doing an AM ride for sure but really need a carpool to save some cash. i almost would prefer to hit the dunes Friday night as well, that 4am time is SCARY. maybe a sleep in the truck is in order, but i need to save money more than sleep. so carpool is more important. i got 2 hours to sleep the way there if someone else drives.

raptor is tuned... finally
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to Adam @ GTP Off Road's topic in ATV / Motorcycle Talk
I installed DMC Force 4 duals, Prodesign K&N w/ outerwear, and i have the lid off with an outerwear cover over the stock airbox. I have the PC5 with timing for the tune. The timing helped for sure. 51 (50.84) is good in my book. with the temps so hot and the alititude in Vegas, and the fact his dyno reads low (but supposedly accurately) the end result is exactly what i was expecting and hoping for. i can't wait to ride,, so bad i am going to ride Apex Saturday morning. -
raptor is tuned... finally
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to Adam @ GTP Off Road's topic in ATV / Motorcycle Talk
When i rode the bike yesterday in my neighborhood, with just the canned tune, it was sweet. I was doing a burnout... sliding sideways.. and doing a wheely down the street. NOT on purpose either. I think this will be good power for me for a while, as a duner and not a racer this should be plenty of pep to keep up. The 50.8 is right where i thought i would be, so not exceeded but met is very good. with the possibility of 53-54hp though in cooler temps, exceeded is a possiblity. The top speed in 4th gear was just over 70mph... that is pretty damn fast to me, with a gear to go. I am ready for a run big D. Need some carpool options though, with my Oregon trip and wedding to pay for money is tight. Not to mention the future wife noticed the all the parts i just bought.. whoops. At least she is nice about it, and lets me have my fun. -
Loaded the bike up this morning and got to Pure Evil, since i knew where i was going it was much easier to find today. Everything went pretty smooth, he has raised his price to $200 if anyone is curious. I am pretty happy with the results. The Tune i got from the Raptorforum.com was rich somewhere in the 14 - 14.5 range to A/F. That was a 48 hp pull out of the box.. still pretty good. With the timing adjustments and getting it close to 13 the best was 50.84 at 97*. So in the cooler temps i could see as much as 54 based on his experience of .5 - 1 hp per 10* in temp. The dyno sheet here shows the difference between the open DMC pipes and with the Quiet Cores in place. he did a 2nd tune for me as well for the quiet cores. It was a good thing we checked as he thought it would run rich, but ended up putting it lean. Below 6000 is the big difference with as much as a 3hp drop, which is where i want the power.
