Using smartphone for mobile hotspot
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to racegirl04's topic in General Chat
The iPhones are expensive enough. I think Sprint was charging $30 a month or something to do the hotspot thing. Android phones can do the hotspot as well. I would check the speed as well. Will they do the hotspot in 4g? 3G hotspot would be ssssllow. -
Sounds pretty dumb to me... runners don't the taxes to use the road. The road is for cars, not bikes, not runners. JMO.

Fines for season passes
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to dunefreak's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
I could see this if the people in the specific camp are being a-holes or something. But, Especially on a busy weekend, i don't see them going to every camp to check. Plus it's got to be more of a scare tactic then anything because if you have a pass what can they really do? All you are really required is to have the season pass. I will carry my receipt just in case, but that is just dumb. -
Fines for season passes
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to dunefreak's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
I bought my pass at Carter powerSports, they didn't write on the back, but I did. I guess I will have to look for my receipt just to be safe. The few times that I have been out there I haven't seen a ranger yet. I haven't seen tracks like they were looking either. -

Set of Yamaha Paddles
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to VegasRaptor's topic in ATV's/ Motorcycles for sale
I have Stake~trak rears that I just bought. I would be interested in the fronts, but I am looking for polished fronts to match the rear DWT. Doubt you want to split them up but it might be easier for you tell sell just the backs. They sell for $100-$125 on Craigslist all the time with ITP. -
Nice, I Wanted to go really bad but after my trip at the end of september it didn't want to hit the heat again. The road in when i went was just the rock, so the sand must be very recent. Seems like it might be easier to smooth out but could get real washboard with traffic.

I had to work so couldn't go, just got done with watching it on DVR. It was a good race and happy Dungey was doing good. Villipoto is FAST! Dungey needs to be more aggressive but he only practiced for 8 days on the KTM before this race. I didn't know the KTMs were a steel frame, just seems weird. Bad thing for Villipoto, he has to pay taxes, mechanic, team cut and whatever else. I bet he got $250k of that, still VERY good, but i would want it all.

Gauze or Foam air filter for the dunes?
Adam @ GTP Off Road replied to Teryx Duner's topic in Side x Side Talk
The big issue with any of these is the oil. If you don't have the filter oil right, that will cause the main issues. Too little, sand, too much sucking in oil (at least at first). I am still using stock filters, once these wear out i think i will go to Uni. I don't trust the K&N personally. I also don't think there is much power to be gained. .5HP isn't going to make any difference. -

thanks, as it got later the sun made for some cool little clips. I went for a highly editted clip film this time. People seem to like watching a highlight real vs my old style. I need 2 or 3 more GoPro cameras though so get more angles and be able to show more of my riding buddy. If you watch the wheelies, the longest one I almost ate it on, but it's hard to tell in the video. Never was much for wheelies before but I have been practicing them more latley. I am hoping to be able to meet people this year for sure. I would like to go at least once a month now that I have the season pass, as long as gas money holds out. I have to camp it for longer trips. I have no camping gear yet, and not sure I would be able to "camp." A toyhauler is out of the question for me right now, I have a wedding to pay for. I am super excited. Just after this trip to dumont I got a new Fly Carbon Kevlar helmet and some Oakley "O"frame googles. I have to test out the new stuff. I am really busy in October and have gigs every weekend, so they are out till November. I still plan on staying away from big weekends so hopefully i can meet up with people during the week on their long trips, or on the off weekends. -

I had one of my friends here from Oregon and wanted to hit up the dunes. I was hoping it wasn't going to be hot, but it was. We rode a session in the morning, then sat under the tent for several hours till it cooled back down. Not as much riding as I would have liked for the drive out, but it felt good to get out there. The new Skat~Trak paddles are very nice and had no tire issues. The road in wasn't bad at all, just the usual wash-board. The river crossing was great, no water (not surprised), nice and smooth.

The Tecopa residents seemed to be against blocking off the land. None of them were really for the offroaders, and more for their needs, but those needs still served offroaders. They were concerned about RV, Hiking, Commercial use of the "Wild" Area. None of them really said anything against offroaders IMO. One gentleman that owns land right in that area of Tecopa seems much more on our then I was expecting. Because this WSR plan is still part of the larger ACEC plan, there isn't really going to be any changes to anything for offroaders at this time. The offroaders going in closed areas really wasn't addressed much. The problem will be, as Terry pointed out, if these endagered little fish come farther down the river then the eco-terrorists will want the Recreation area closed down. There were still some grey area details for me. Mainly, how hard is it going to be for them to close Dumont crossing. -

All right, this might be kinda long, but i have been working on my email/letter and wanted to share. I want to get every point i can across. Save OHV Lands What is the purpose of preserving lands, species, and water ways if no one can be there to enjoy it? If I can’t, today or tomorrow go and see these American assets then how will my children or your children be able to enjoy them? Public land is not to be protected FROM the public but protected FOR the public as a source of enjoyment and economic growth for this generation and the generations to come. There is a broken culture which puts higher priority on the demands of environmental extremists than on the needs of ALL American Citizens and Communities. It is time to give voice to ALL Americans and not allow these extremists to take away Americans rights for OUR land. My name is Adam Czesnikowski and I am here to say ENOUGH is ENOUGH as an American and Offroad enthusiast STOP taking away OUR land. These new and extremely restricting policies are becoming more and more like a Monarchs rule in the 1300s then a modern management and control of federally owned PUBLIC land. Except for the modern lovely fencing of course. It is time we work to preserve the lands and manage them FOR the people to use and enjoy, now and for years to come. As each area gets closed or limited down for OHV use the economy suffers. There are bike salespeople, repair, and retail stores all making their living on the use of these vehicles. Many people rely on OHVs to be able to see these areas as they are unable to get there any other way. EVERY American has the right to have access to OUR PUBLIC lands. The ideas of the few on how they can increase their business by using public money are an example of what is wrong with America and the corrupt system in place to assist them in the name of “save the land”. While these same few will take an offroaders money, they wait to stab us in the back and take away our recreation area. Well if we just close this area, just put one fence here, one gate there. Soon there are dozens of areas closed, hundreds of miles of fencing, and plenty of gates to keep AMERICANS from using OUR land, set aside for PUBLIC use. So maybe you are a hiker, or you love birdwatching, GREAT be a free American and enjoy those activities. Myself, and many others, we LOVE offroading. I am asking, please don’t take away my rights as an American, don’t take away my freedom, don’t take away public lands from what I love, my OHV. -
