  1. yeah. there were a couple people airing down and getting stuck as we were pulling in to the whoops. funny thing is.. i was pulling the banshee with the rhino on the way out, same way, and made it through without getting stuck! guess experience was the key. now.. i'm racing three bikes at bwIV. anyone got some ideas on how to get them at the hill? JUST KIDDING. i was thinking we can ride the rhino and one bike to the hill at a time, leave the bike with someone we can trust and do it all over again until they're all there.
  2. heh, classic. last weekend i took the half ton and the flatbed out dumont for a saturday morning run. i got too close to the first finger and got stuck (half ton is 2wd.) unloaded the flatbed and rolled away with ease. parked near the first finger, walked over to the toys and rode them to the truck. we left fully loaded and pulled away with ease. it's nothing spectacular but that's my latest story and i'm sticking to it. oh, and during ddr 1st annual night drag i was towing my banshee to the hill with the rhino and gt stuck in front of the whoops. had to unhook the banshee, drive the rhino to the whoops, run back and ride the banshee to the rhino and go from there. 2 stories in one.
  3. i think my sierra 5.3 is rated at 6,500 lbs. towing. i could be incorrect though. i've pulled about 5,500-6,000 lbs. up baker grade with it once before. about 40mph in second gear but made it.
  4. i've two friends with wekend warriors, larger models however, and they've had problems with them brand new off the lot. the service department is usually 3-4 weeks out, too. i haven't heard anything bad about a sandpiper. i have a '02 sierra 5.3 as well, and i was going to purchase a fleetwood scorpion initially. it's a pop-up camper with a 12'x8' cargo bed for your toys and a 4'x8' cargo bed for your bbq and gas cans etc. it has a bed and sink and toilet etc. but then i changed my mind and purchased a 25' toyhauler and a diesel to pull it with because we needed more room for the stuff. what i do know is that you'll wanna get the lightest possible combination to pull with your half ton. when i take my half ton to dumont with my 16' flatbed trailer loaded (one quad in bed and one quad on trailer with one rhino) i have to pull it up the grade in second gear and that's only 2,400 lbs. including the trailer, plus 400 lbs. in the bed.
  5. a buddy of mine works for coca-cola in management and gets me tickets every year for some of the events. i usually take the outlaws tickets and the nhra tickets from him but i pass on the cup/busch tickets and the truck tickets. a couple years ago he had 20 tickets to the truck race in the earnhardt terrace, probably no different this year. if you need tickets i can call him and see what he's got. i can only request tickets from hm about a week before the event and sometimes i don't know if i can get tickets until the day before the event. pm me and ask and i'll see what i can do.
  6. my right leg has multiple burn marks from the expansion chamber on my shee.. darned big bore shearer pipes. i can feel the heat from my 700r but atleast it doesn't scar me. we're kind of the oddballs out at the dunes. me and my gf have four quads and a rhino. we sometimes take both trucks.. the half ton with the 16' flatbed trailer, and the 454 dually (whick we'll be selling now because we purchased a diesel yesterday) with the toy hauler. we've decided this year we're gonna fir what we can in the diesel and toyhauler and call it a trip. when we get there we mostly keep to ourselves. we have a couple camps we can go to. my gf and i don't drink so we go to bed early and wake early and mainly stay in the camper when we're not riding. i like to camp with raptoroy. roy is "the really cool guy that helps everyone, and has a solution for every problem." his camp is contained of +40/-50 crowd pretty much. the other camp is dan's (powerhouse racing) camp. they're wild over there. that's the "mcflurry" camp. that camp is huge and mostly out of control heh. i'm gonna work on figurin' out a satellite dish sometime this season so i won't have to leave early sunday morning to run home and catch the race. see you fellers and gals at the dunes.
  7. budweiser number eight chevrolet monte carlo finished a magnificent second yayee yay! i never go to the races. more comfortable to watch on my couch.
  8. i purchased $200.00 in tickets for the sand car giveaway last year at the ssss. i figure they owe me one this year. if i won, i'd sell it and do two things: 1) pay off the new diesel i purchased today and 2) purchase a hayabusa rail.
  9. i go through tecopa on day trips with the flatbed trailer. i go through baker when i have the toyhauler.
  10. i have an '89 banshee for sale, but don't let the year fool you. it's been gone through pretty well: powdercoated golden yellow frame, swingarm, & grab bar. 358cc (65mm bore) wiseco pistons. fmf fatty exhaust/powercore II silencers. stock carbs with dual k&n clamp-on filters. boyesen rad valve reed assemblies. stock head, boost bottle. '96 stator. 2001 wiring/cdi box/taillight/headlights. motion pro twist throttle. ac racing pro-peg nerf bars. alba brake block-off. msr handlebars & clutch perch/lever. 2001 blue powdercoated rear hubs. 2001 blue powdercoated front hubs, sprocket & brake hub (not installed, 89 front, sprocket, and brake hubs on it now but you get the blue ones too.) 2001 stock banshee shocks front & rear. 2001 bearing carrier w/ new bearings. 2001 gas tank. axle locknut. blue/yellow plastic (scraped up but decent) extra set of white plastic comes with it (painted pink in some areas but removable.) 22" holeshot front tires. needs new rear tires (sidewall torn in one tire) 20" maxxis razr's on 9" itp t9 wheels. itp sandstars on itp t9 wheels front and rear. um chassis and swingarm skids (not installed.) geared 15/41. thumb throttle w/ billet cover (not installed.) NO SEAT!!!!! i haven't listed this banshee for sale because i haven't got a seat for it yet, and was waiting to do that first. the engine runs like a raped ape, it is very strong. no porting. the transmission upshifts perfect but downshifts funky between 3rd and 2nd gear. it has yamaha 600 clutches, which may be that issue but i'm unsure. one of the clutch cover bolts is stripped and leaks oil in that spot very minimally. it can be re-tapped or heli-coiled. it would take probably two years to leak all of the oil out. i believe in 100% disclosure, and i have disclosed all known issues with this banshee. i'm asking $2,500 for it. i have other banshees here that i can borrow dirt tires and a seat for test riding. i think i'm going to post an ad for this in the classified section of this forum. thanks for your time, and see you at the dunes.
  11. 20x10x10 8 paddle haulers would probably be the easiest, cost efficient, and best size to get i would think. maybe a 7 paddle possibly.. but i've never tried a 7 paddle hauler so i can't comment from experience.
  12. no problem brother. i'll be out there in october on the seventh for bwIV, and the weekend before (september 30th i think it is) to make some practise runs for bwIV. after that i probably won't make it out to dumont again ntil halloween weekend. pm me when you find out you're going.
  13. i'm entering two bikes. my gf's just for fun, and mine i expect to take runner-up or higher in my class.
  14. oh, k. dave ruskowitz is my snap-on dealer, but i camp with snap-on mike and roy. i wonder if they were able to work on mike's kfx700.. it was at powerhouse having some good stuff done to the motor. i haven't talked to roy in about a week and haven't asked about it. i think i'm going to dumont real early saturday morning to run the shee's a bit if anyone is interested.
  15. do you have a yamaha quad? i have three sets of extreme grip haulers, and two sets of sandstars, all on itp t9 wheels if you'd like to try out sometime. we can go to the dunes and you can see for yourself what's a better preference for you. sizes are as follows: 22x11x10 10 paddle extreme grip hauler. 20x10x10 10 paddle extreme grip hauler. 20x10x10 8 paddle extreme grip hauler. 20x10x9 sandstar. 20x10x10 sandstar. i have two sets of 21x7x10 sandstar fronts, and two sets of 21x7x10 skat-trak mohawk front if you'd like to test them as well. from my experience.. the geckos handled awfully in my opinion. the sandstars are a very decent dune tire. i prefer the skat-trak straight blade tires myself.. they don't turn very well but it's easier to sidehill than the v-blades.
  16. i seen him out there on easter weekend. i couldn't get him to line up with me. i had been waiting all summer to line up next to him heh.
  17. i seen myself twice. they filmed the part where the, hmm politely now let's see.. the big dood on the stretched yellow banshee took off before i got to the line. i left anyway and still passed him at the top. that was the highlight of my night.
  18. no, i mean about the site. i tried to log onto the site and it was like it got hacked or something.
  19. i'll be there for bwIV definitely, but i'm not sure if i'll be able to stay any longer than that.
  20. much thanks to walt for his help. he had my problem generally diagnosed in a matter of a few minutes. dood you're awesome. my apologies for the delay.. i haven't been able to get on the site until just now. what was all that dramam about?
  21. definitely first week of october, for me. but if weather cooperates well, i may make a trip there sometime late september.
  22. oh, dan clifton @ powerhouse racing did the install. he works on all my stuff.
  23. i hear ya.. loads of fun! i just got done sending you a pm. i dunno when i'll be working, but tomorrow afternoon might work.
  24. does that mean that the alternator is bad and needs replaced, or it needs to be looked over and have wires re-ran? i'm aware that in my case a stator is run and not an alternator, but i'm thinking that you're suggesting that a similar occurence may have happened in my instance but in an automotive technical analogy. if it's the stator, i doubt black rhino will stand behind their product. they have the worst customer service around.
