Get in my truck sunday morning and, :cold: , WTF is that, thats not the way it should sound. The thing is missing, so I pop the hood, check all the plug wires at the distributer and plugs. It's all good, except for the missing cylinder. :barf:

Well this sucks extra bad because I plan to make a trip to Glamis on friday night. :beercheers:

I'm taking it up to a good Chevy guy my dad knows and get it checked out. Hopefully it doesnt cost me an arm and a leg. Wish I lived in Vegas so I can take it to 'Freak for the DDR hookup. :beercheers:

By the way, it's a 2001 S-10, 4.3l 6 banger if this has happened to anyone else and you have a suggestion. :beercheers:

That sucks, Sean. :(

I've had two 4.3's come in the shop lately (since its been cold) with injector failures. I usually replace and update the whole CPI unit with the new design instead of just replacing only one injector. If one goes, usually there's gonna be another to follow.

Injectors are about $140 each or $325 for the whole updated CPI unit which is everything (6 injectors, meter block, regulator, etc).

Good luck man. Let me know if I can help you at all even though I'm out here in Hendo. :beercheers:

Survey Says...Clogged injector in cylinder 4. :beerpint:

I guess those trips to D and G are coming back with me in the gas tank. I use 76 gas too, never buy the cheap crap. :hungry: Guess I need to start using the injector cleaner more often (never did before :drunk: )

Had a mini tune up done too, new belt, New plugs, new distributer cap. Ready to roll now. He also siad that the DEX-COOL antifreeze that GM recommends should be flushed every so often, corrosive build-up? :?:

P.S.-Hey 'Freak, should I just generally change injectors when I hit a certain mileage or will they just go out whenever? :whistle:

no you don't have to change injectors at a certain mileage. Some may last 50K miles, some may last 150K. You just never know. They take a chit when they want to. Just try and run a bottle of GOOD injector cleaner (like the GM stuff) through the tank every so often (at least once or twice a year) and don't buy chit gas.

As for the Dexcool, don't ever let it go low. That's when it really creates bad buildup from getting aerated and causes chit like heater cores to plug up. Ask fctryblack84 about that. ;) :porn: It should be flushed after about 80 or 100K miles or so.

That's why I let someone else get the headache over it. The guy I went to spent an hour and a half on #3 I think it was, next to the steering link. I guess he had to bend a wrench to fit it in there. Said it was the worst one he has ever had to do. :beat:

Com'mon, guys been workin on Chevys for 35 years, He does know his chit. He said mine was different from others for some reason, he never had that problem before. :clap:

Sometimes those old timers are the worst at being able to adapt to the new methods and strategies of working on late model cars. Things aren't like they used to be. He may know his chit, but you need many special tools but most importantly- lots of ingenuity these days to R&R even the simplest of things like a speark plug. Not sure why yours would be any different, but I'll believe you (him). Sometimes the easiest things can be a motherf*cker. Just depends how your day is going. :headbang1:

I wasn't talking about you f*cker :blink::whistle:

Pete can you buy dexacool anywhere but Chevy? Can you mix it with other coolants?

Yes you can buy Dexcool just about any parts store. You can mix different brands of Dexcool, but not different TYPES of colant. For example, you cannot mix Dex with green coolant. :whoop:
