Foxysandchick
Rattle can? Don't get gas on that bad boy! I was wondering the same thing . I talked to the painter here at work and he gave me some tips on painting each part and what to use.
mineurbiz
I was wondering the same thing . I talked to the painter here at work and he gave me some tips on painting each part and what to use. A buddy of mine did his 350X that way and when he dripped gas on it, the paint wrinkled. I cannot wait to see the plastics though.
RAGDOLL MX
yeah its rattle can, but i have a clear coat that is going over it, it is going to cover the paint pretty well, so there shouldnt be to much of a problem...and i dont fill it to much i should be ok. Foxysandchick
Well if that paint doesn't hold up for you, I was told to use High Heat paint such as this.... http://www.krylon.com/products/bbq_stove_paints/ or http://www.krylon.com/products/high_heat_radiator_paints/ by the painter at my work. I was more concerned with the temp of the motor than gas spills, but for the tank he suggested regular rattle can http://www.krylon.com/products/indooroutdoor_paint/ 3-5 coats with proper prep, sanding and drying time followed by 1 of these http://www.krylon.com/products/uvresistant_clear/ http://www.krylon.com/products/triplethick...al_clear_glaze/ http://www.krylon.com/products/acrylic_crystal_clear/ with about 5 coats of clear. He says as long as you stick with the same brands of paint and use a quality rattle can with the proper technique you can get a finish as good as using professional automotive paint. Or of course you can buy automotive paint and do it yourself also. Going to be my summer project but I'm doing it as cheap as possible. How are you painting the plastics?? How are you painting the plastics?? you can by plastic spray paint if you want to go the cheaper route or your painter should know the additive to add to make it work. RAGDOLL MX
How are you painting the plastics?? thanks for the info, that helps, as far as painting the plastics, iam actually using Lamborghini Lime green auto paint, a flex is getting put into it, so it can handle a small amount of bending, but i can guarentee a good crash or a huge flex will crack and chip the paint. But these are getting built and more or less put into a show room. ill probably never ride these ones. the other 2 that iam building, iam going to BEAT THE HELL OUT OF!..lol..and then iam restoring the 74 back to original condition, and that will be my daughters first bike in about 3 years.
